음파 가진을 이용한 2차원 웨이크 유동 제어에 관한 연구 (A study on 2-D wake flow control by acoustic excitation)

  • In a low speed open-type wind tunnel, a group of parallel wakes downstream of two dimensional grid model consisting of several circular cylinders were experimentally investigated to study the response of the wake flows to the acoustic excitation, in hoping to promote the understanding of the underlying mechanism behind the gross flow change due to artificial excitation. In the unexcited wake flows, the development of the individual wakes behind cylinders was almost uniform for the ratio of the spacing to the cylinder diameter of s/d.geq.1.5. For smaller s/d, however, the jet streams issued through the gaps between the cylinders became biased in one side and the cylinders had wakes of different sizes. At s/d=1.25, the gap flow directions change in time, leading to unstable wake patterns. Further reduction in s/d made this unstable flip-flopping of the jets stable. The most effective excitation frequency was found to be in the Strouhal number range of St=0.5-0.6. This frequency was related to the vortex shedding. At s/d=1.75, the excitation frequency was 2 or 4 times the vortex shedding frequency. When the flow was excited at this frequency, the vortex sheddings were energized, and pairings between neighboring vortices were generated. Also, the merging process between individual wakes was accelerated. The unstable and unbalanced wake patterns at s/d=2.15 were made stable and balanced.   • The phase-averaged velocity fields of 3 dimensional turbulent wake behind a marine propeller measured by 2D PIV and stereoscopic PIV(SPIV) were compared directly. In-plane velocity fields obtained from the consecutive particle images captured by one camera in 2D PIV have perspective errors due to out-of-plane motion. However, the perspective errors can be removed by measuring three component velocity fields using SPIV method with two cameras. It is also necessary to measure three components velocity fields for the investigation of complicated near-wake behind the propeller for the suitable propeller design. 400 instantaneous velocity fields were measured for each of four different blade phases of $0^{\circ},\;18^{\circ},\;36^{\circ}C\;and\;54^{\circ}$. They were ensemble averaged to investigate the spatial evolution of the propeller wake in the downstream region. The phase-averaged velocity fields show the viscous wake developed along the blade surfaces and tip vortices were formed periodically. The perspective errors caused by the out-of-plane motion was estimated by the comparison of 2D PIV and SPIV results. The difference in the axial mean velocity fields measured by both techniques are nearly proportional to the mean out-of-plane velocity component which has large values in the regions of the tip and trailing vortices. The axial turbulence intensity measured by 2D PIV was overestimated since the out-of-plane velocity fluctuations influence the in-plane velocity vectors and increase the in-plane turbulence intensities.

제어봉이 부착된 원관 후류의 주파수특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Frequency Characteristics of Wake Flow a Circular Cylinder with Control Cylinder)

  • 제어봉이 부착된 원관 후류의 유동특성을 관찰하기 위해 입자영상유속계(PIV)를 사용한 계측을 수행하였다. 실험은 소형회류수조에서 유업 유속을 0.lm/s, 0.2m/s, 0.4 m/s 로 하고, 원관(D=50mm) 에 제어봉이 없는 경우와 제어봉이 5mm, 10mm, 20mm 가 부착된 총 l27가지로 정하였고, 속도신호에 따른 주파수특성을 고찰하였다. 실험에서 제어봉의 영향으로 인하여 와류흘림 주파수가 작게 나타났으며, 유동제어의 지배변수로는 d/D와 레이놀즈수이며, 원관 후류의 주파수특성에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 와류흘림 주파수는 제어봉이 0.20인 경우 가장 작게 나타났다.

자유단이 있는 원주의 후류 유동특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Flow structure of wake behind a finite circular cylinder)

  • Flow characteristics of the wake behind a finite circular cylinder(FC) mounted on a flat plate was experimentally investigated. Three finite cylinder models having aspect ratio (length to diameter ratio, L/D) of 6,10 and 13 were tested in this study. Wake velocity was measured by a hot-wire anemometry at Reynolds number of 20,000, and the results were compared with those of two-dimensional circular cylinder. As a result, the free-end effect on the wake structure becomes more dominant with decreasing the aspect ratio(L/D) of the finite cylinder. Invisid flow entrained into the wake region decreases the turbulence intensity and periodicity of the vortex shedding due to existence of the free end. From spectral analysis and cross correlation of the velocity signals, vortices having 24Hz frequency characteristics are found in the down wash flow just behind the free end. There exists very complicated flow near the free end due to interaction between the entrained flow and streamwise vortices. Vortex formation region is destroyed significantly in the near wake and shows quite different wake structures from those of 2-D cylinder.

  • A new stereoscopic PIV is developed using two CCD cameras, stereoscopic photogrammetry, and a 3D-PTV principle. The wake of a circular cylinder is measured by the developed stereoscopic PIV technique. The B mode vortical structure of the wake over the Reynolds number 300 is clearly seen by the developed technique. The arrangement of the two cameras is based on angular position. The calibration of cameras and the pair-matching of the three-dimensional velocity vectors are based on 3D-PTV technique.

Aerodynamics of a cylinder in the wake of a V-shaped object

  • The interaction between two different shaped structures is very important to be understood. Fluid-structure interactions and aerodynamics of a circular cylinder in the wake of a V-shaped cylinder are examined experimentally, including forces, shedding frequencies, lock-in process, etc., with the V-shaped cylinder width d varying from d/D = 0.6 to 2, where D is the circular cylinder diameter. While the streamwise separation between the circular cylinder and V-shaped cylinder was 10D fixed, the transverse distance T between them was varied from T/D = 0 to 1.5. While fluid force and shedding frequency of the circular cylinder were measured using a load cell installed in the circular cylinder, measurement of shedding frequency of the V-shaped cylinder was done by a hotwire. The major findings are: (i) a larger d begets a larger velocity deficit in the wake; (ii) with increase in d/D, the lock-in between the shedding from the two cylinders is centered at d/D = 1.1, occurring at $d/D{\approx}0.95-1.35$ depending on T/D; (iii) at a given T/D, when d/D is increased, the fluctuating lift grows and reaches a maximum before decaying; the d/D corresponding to the maximum fluctuating lift is dependent on T/D, and the relationship between them is linear, expressed as $d/D=1.2+{\frac{1}{e}}T/D$; that is, a larger d/D corresponds to a greater T/D for the maximum fluctuating lift.

  • A stereo-PIV (particle image velocimetry) technique is used to investigate the vortical structure of the wake behind a rotating propeller in the present study. A four bladed propeller is tested in a cavitaion tunnel without any wake screen. Hundreds of instantaneous velocity fields are phase-averaged to reveal the three dimensional spatial evolution of the flow behind the propeller. The results of conventional 2-D PIV are also compared with those of the stereo-PIV to understand the vortical structure of propeller wake deeply. The variations of radial and axial velocities in the 2-D PIV results seem to be affected by the out-of-plane motion. generating a little perspective error in the in-plane velocity components of the slipstream. The strong out-of-plane motion around the hub vortex also causes the perspective error to vary the axial velocity component a little at the near wake region. The out-of-plane velocity component had the maximum value of about 0.3U0 in the tip vortices and continued its magnitude in the wake region.

  • The flow around free end of a finite circular cylinder(FC) embedded in an atmospheric boundary layer has been investigated experimentally. The experiments were carried out in a closed-return type subsonic wind tunnel with varying aspect ratio of the finite cylinder mounted vertically on a flat plate. The wake structures behind a 2-D cylinder and a finite cylinder located in a uniform flow were also measured for comparison. Reynolds number based on the cylinder diameter was about Re=20,000. A hot-wire anemometer was employed to measure the wake velocity and the mean pressure distributions on the cylinder surface were also measured. The flow past the FC free end shows a complicated three-dimensional wake structure and flow phenomenon is quite different from that of 2-D cylinder. The three-dimensional flow structure was attributed to the downwashing counter rotating vortices separated from the FC free end. As the FC aspect ratio decreases, the vortex shedding frequency is decreased and the vortex formation length is increased compared to that of 2-D cylinder. Due to the descending counter-rotating twin-vortex, in the region near the FC free end, regular vortex shedding from the cylinder is suppressed and the vortex formation region is hardly established. In the wake center region, the mean velocity for the FC located in atmospheric boundary layer has large velocity deficit, compared to that of uniform flow.

난류박리기포에 대한 비정상 후류의 영향 (Influence of Unsteady Wake on a Turbulent Separation Bubble)

  • An experimental study was made of turbulent separated and reattaching flow over a blunt body, where unsteady wake was generated by a spoke wheel-type wake generator with cylindrical rods. The influence of unsteady wake was scrutinized by altering the rotating direction (CW and CCW) and the normalized passing frequency (0 St$\_$H/ 0.20). The Reynolds number based on the cylindrical rod was Re$\_$d/=375. A phase-averaging technique was employed to characterize the unsteady wake. The effect of different rotating directions was examined in detail, which gave a significant reduction of x$\_$R/. The wall pressure fluctuations on the blunt body were analysed in terms of the spectrum and the coherence.

임의 λ에 대한 근사해 B(ξ)를 이용한 잠수함 난류항적 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Submarine's Turbulent Wake using Analytical Solution of B(ξ) for the given λ)

  • 다양한 ${\lambda}$에 대한 근사적 $B({\xi})$를 이용한 잠수함 난류항적의 특성은 대략 ${\xi}{\approx}0.6$근처에서 $B({\xi}){\approx}{\frac{B({\xi})_{max}}{2}}$, 그리고 ${{\int}_{0}^{{\approx}0.6}}B({\xi})d{\xi}{\approx}0.85{{\int}_{0}^{1}}B({\xi})d{\xi}$인 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 전제인 에너지 준 평형상태에 따라 잠수함 난류항적을 기술하는데 $4{\leq}{\lambda}{\leq}8$${\lambda}$가 현실에 보다 부합하였으며, ${\lambda}$는 난류항적 에너지 분포와 반지름, 최대 탐지 거리에 영향을 미치고 있고, 함의 속도는 난류항적의 모양보다는 지속시간에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 극한 경우로 만약 $7{\leq}{\lambda}{\leq}8$이라면 서해에서는 잠수함의 난류항적이 수면에서 관찰될 것으로 판단되나 동해에서는 snorkel을 한 잠수함의 신호를 파악하는 데 사용될 수 있다.
