  • The microbial contamination rate of contact lens cases in multi-purpose solution(MPS) care systems of 80 asymptomatic soft contact lens wearers was investigated. In caring for their lenses 72 patients (90%) used chemical disinfection(include MPS), six patients(7%) used hydrogen peroxide, and two patients(3%) used heat. Fifty-nine percent of patients used MPS in their care systems. Of 80 contact lens cases, contamination was found in 68%(54) of cases. There is a significant relationship between the ages of lens cases and contamination: older cases being more frequently contaminated. Of the contaminated 31 lens cases(57%) in MPS care systems, four contact lens cases(13%) were contaminated by single organism, 15 cases(48%) by two kinds of organisms, and 12 cases(39%) by more than three kinds of organisms. Of the organisms that were contaminated lens cases, Pseudomonas. Serratia, Bacillus, E. coli and Aspergillus were frequently isolated. When considering the high contamination rate of soft contact lens cases in MPS care systems more effective and hygienical lens care system is important, especially frequent and regular disposal of lens cases may prove to prevent the build-up of microbial colonisation in containers.

  • Graphical Processing Units(GPUs) achieve high performance undertaking from relatively uniformed computation in parallel. The technology related to General Purpose GPU(GPGPU) has been enhanced, which provides concurrent kernel execution of multi and diverse applications at the same time, but it is still limited to support resource sharing or planning. NVIDIA recently introduces Multi-Process Service(MPS), which allows kernels from different applications can be execute concurrently. However, the strength of MPS comes along with the characteristics of applications and the order of their execution. This paper shows the performance analysis of diverse scientific applications in real world. Based on the analysis, we prove that it is important to the identify characteristics of co-run applications, and to schedule multiple applications via profiling to maximize MPS functionality.

  • Objective : To research the trends of study related to myofascial pain syndrome(MPS) and acupuncture in PubMed, and to establish the hereafter direction of myofascial pain syndrome(MPS) with acupuncture. Methods : We searched in PubMed, with myofascial pain syndrome and acupuncture, trigger point and acupuncture limitted by abstract. Results : 1. The pattern of the study was as follows : Review article(11), Clinical(11) rondomized controlled trials(21). We further estimated 24 articles. 2. Many of these studies provide equivocal results because of designs, sample size and the other, affirmative view is 10 articles, contradictive view is 6 articles, and somewhat reservative regards are 8 articles for therapeutic effect of myofascial pain syndrome with acupuncture. 3. Suggestions on further endolphin related research, neurophysiology, biophysics and phamacology are made. 4. More clinical data would be needed to prove effects of myofascial pain syndrome with acupuncture.

  • Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is a disorder of storage in which there is excessive accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) from lysosomal enzyme defect. Lysosomal accumulation of GAGs eventually results in cell, tissue and organ dysfunction. This patient may manifest mental retardation and physical disorders. This clinical report presents a girl with MPS having severe gingival hyperplasia. Gingivectomy was performed under general anesthesia. The pediatric dentist must be aware of oral manifestations present in the MPS. The approach to dental management will require teamwork between the dentist and the patient's physician.

  • Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is an inherited metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency in enzymes that participate in the degradation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as heparin sulfate and dermatan sulfate. Left untreated, patients show progressive mental and physical deterioration due to deposition of GAGs in organs. Death often occurs due to cardiac or respiratory failure before patients reach their early twenties. MPS has several oral and dental manifestations. An enlarged head, short neck, and open mouth associated with a large tongue are major characteristics of MPS patients. Dental complications can be severe, including unerupted dentition, dentigerous cyst-like follicles, malocclusions, condylar defects, and gingival hyperplasia. A 21-year-old female patient with MPS was described in this article, with special emphasis on oral manifestations and dental treatment.

  • Enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is a well-established means of treating lysosomal storage disease (LSD). However, classical IV infusion based ERT method produces less than ideal results, especially, CNS defects and quality of life in patients. To improve these main problems of parental IV formulation for LSDs, we investigate modified ERT method and evaluated the efficacy in animal model.

  • The purpose of this review was to examine the clinical characteristics of patients who had a diagnosis of Myofascial Pain Syndrome(MPS). Myofascial pain is a painful condition of skeletal muscle characterized by the presence of one or more trigger points. A trigger point(TrP) is a focus of hyperirritability in a tissues. Of the patients with MPS, 21(44.7 %) were male and 26(55.3 %) were female. The mean duration of MPS was 9.6 months for males and 11.3 months for females. Trigger points with associated referred patterns of pain were found in muscles of the post neck(trapezius, infrasupinatus) and in quadratus lumborum muscle. Patients reported increased fatigue(87.2 %), tingling sensation(66.0 %), numbness(66.0 %), tension(55.3 %), anxiety(44.7 %), headache (59.6 %), pilomotor activation(59.6 %).

  • Korean adjectives in general cannot combine with measure phrases (MP), but MPs are compatible with adjectives when they appear with the inchoative morpheme -(e)ci. In this case, MPs can only denote the difference between two states along the dimension denoted by the root adjective. To account for this, this paper proposes that i) -(e)ci is a spell-out of V in the directed motion construction which takes an abstract path argument, like become, and ii) this path argument contains a comparative morpheme. By assuming this we can explain why MPs appear with -(e)ci, as well as other interesting phenomena such as variable telicity in deadjectival verbs with -(e)ci.

  • In this report, the phenotypes of three patients from two families with mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II) are compared: a novel variant and recombinant variant of IDS gene. The results of urine in patients showed a pronounced increase in glycosaminoglycan excretion with decreased iduronate-2-sulfatase enzyme activity in leukocyte, leading to a diagnosis of MPS II. A patient has a novel variant with 1 bp small insertion, c.1224_1225insC in exon 9, which caused frameshifts with a premature stop codon, and two patients have a recombination variant, c.418+495_1006+1304del, leading to the loss of exons 4, 5, 6, and 7 in genomic DNA, which is relatively common in Korean patients. They had different phenotypes even in the same mutation. The patients have now been enzyme replacement therapy with a significant decrease in glycosaminoglycan excretion. Further study on residual enzyme activity, as well as experience with more cases, may shed light on the relationship between phenotypes in MPS II and gene mutations.

  • The KSTAR Magnet Power Supply (MPS) was dedicated to the SC coil commissioning and $1^{st}$ plasma experiment as a part of the system commissioning. Although many efforts to develop large-current power supplies that are useful for high power electronic devices have been made in various application fields, such as for large metal-plating devices, there were clear discrepancies between conventional power supply technologies and that for the SC coils due to the special SC coil load conditions. Therefore, most of the power supply technologies for the SC coils were a challenge in the domestic research area due to their limited application. However, the MPS commissioning result showed that all of the hardware and controlling software operated well, and this result finally led to the success of SC coil commissioning and the KSTAR $1^{st}$ plasma experiment. This paper will describe key features of KSTAR MPS for the $1^{st}$ plasma experiment, and will also report the commissioning results of the magnet power supplies.
