Wave observations using a marine X-band radar are conducted by analyzing the backscattered radar signal from sea surfaces. Wave parameters are extracted using Modulation Transfer Function obtained from 3D wave number and frequency spectra which are calculated by 3D FFT of time series of sea surface images (42 images per minute). The accuracy of estimation of the significant wave height is, therefore, critically dependent on the quality of radar images. Wave observations during Typhoon Maysak and Haishen in the summer of 2020 show large errors in the estimation of the significant wave heights. It is because of the deteriorated radar images due to raindrops falling on the sea surface. This paper presents the algorithm developed to increase the accuracy of wave heights estimation from radar images by adopting convolution neural network(CNN) which automatically classify radar images into rain and non-rain cases. Then, an algorithm for deriving the Hs is proposed by creating different ANN models and selectively applying them according to the rain or non-rain cases. The developed algorithm applied to heavy rain cases during typhoons and showed critically improved results.

This paper proposes a new convolutional neural network (CNN) based spectrum sensing technique for cognitive radio communications. The proposed technique determines the existence of the primary user (PU) by using energy detection without any prior knowledge of the PU's signal. In the proposed method, the received signal is high-rate sampled to sense the entire spectrum bands of interest. After that, fast Fourier transform (FFT) of the signal converts the time domain signal to frequency domain spectrum and by stacking those consecutive spectrums, a 2 dimensional signal is made. The 2 dimensional signal is cut by the sensing channel bandwidth and inputted to the CNN. The CNN determines the existence of the primary user. Since there are only two states (existence or non-existence), binary classification CNN is used. The performance of the proposed method is examined through computer simulation and indoor experiment. According to the results, the proposed method outperforms the conventional threshold-based method by over 2 dB.
A seagrass that is marine vascular plants plays an important role in the marine ecosystem, so periodic monitoring ofseagrass habitatsis being performed. Recently, the use of dronesthat can easily acquire very high-resolution imagery is increasing to efficiently monitor seagrass habitats. And deep learning based on a convolutional neural network has shown excellent performance in semantic segmentation. So, studies applied to deep learning models have been actively conducted in remote sensing. However, the segmentation accuracy was different due to the hyperparameter, various deep learning models and imagery. And the normalization of the image and the tile and batch size are also not standardized. So,seagrass habitats were segmented from drone-borne imagery using a deep learning that shows excellent performance in this study. And it compared and analyzed the results focused on normalization and tile size. For comparison of the results according to the normalization, tile and batch size, a grayscale image and grayscale imagery converted to Z-score and Min-Max normalization methods were used. And the tile size isincreased at a specific interval while the batch size is allowed the memory size to be used as much as possible. As a result, IoU was 0.26 ~ 0.4 higher than that of Z-score normalized imagery than other imagery. Also, it wasfound that the difference to 0.09 depending on the tile and batch size. The results were different according to the normalization, tile and batch. Therefore, this experiment found that these factors should have a suitable decision process.

In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based person re-identification method using a three-dimensional RGB-Depth Xtion2 camera considering joint coordinates and dynamic features(velocity, acceleration). The main idea of the proposed identification methodology is to easily extract gait data such as joint coordinates, dynamic features with an RGB-D camera and automatically identify gait patterns through a self-designed one-dimensional convolutional neural network classifier(1D-ConvNet). The accuracy was measured based on the F1 Score, and the influence was measured by comparing the accuracy with the classifier model (JC) that did not consider dynamic characteristics. As a result, our proposed classifier model in the case of considering the dynamic characteristics(JCSpeed) showed about 8% higher F1-Score than JC.
Retrieving a 3D model from a 3D database and augmenting the retrieved model in the Augmented Reality system simultaneously became an issue in developing the plausible AR environments in a convenient fashion. It is considered that the sketch-based 3D object retrieval is an intuitive way for searching 3D objects based on human-drawn sketches as query. In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning based approach of retrieving a sketch-based 3D object as for an Augmented Reality Model. For this work, we introduce a new method which uses Sketch CNN, Wasserstein CNN and Wasserstein center loss for retrieving a sketch-based 3D object. Especially, Wasserstein center loss is used for learning the center of each object category and reducing the Wasserstein distance between center and features of the same category. The proposed 3D object retrieval and augmentation consist of three major steps as follows. Firstly, Wasserstein CNN extracts 2D images taken from various directions of 3D object using CNN, and extracts features of 3D data by computing the Wasserstein barycenters of features of each image. Secondly, the features of the sketch are extracted using a separate Sketch CNN. Finally, we adopt sketch-based object matching method to localize the natural marker of the images to register a 3D virtual object in AR system. Using the detected marker, the retrieved 3D virtual object is augmented in AR system automatically. By the experiments, we prove that the proposed method is efficiency for retrieving and augmenting objects.

In our daily life, we come across different types of information, for example in the format of multimedia and text. We all need different types of information for our common routines as watching/reading the news, listening to the radio, and watching different types of videos. However, sometimes we could run into problems when a certain type of information is required. For example, someone is listening to the radio and wants to listen to jazz, and unfortunately, all the radio channels play pop music mixed with advertisements. The listener gets stuck with pop music and gives up searching for jazz. So, the above example can be solved with an automatic audio classification system. Deep Learning (DL) models could make human life easy by using audio classifications, but it is expensive and difficult to deploy such models at edge devices like nano BLE sense raspberry pi, because these models require huge computational power like graphics processing unit (G.P.U), to solve the problem, we proposed DL model. In our proposed work, we had gone for a low complexity model for Audio Event Detection (AED), we extracted Mel-spectrograms of dimension 128×431×1 from audio signals and applied normalization. A total of 3 data augmentation methods were applied as follows: frequency masking, time masking, and mixup. In addition, we designed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with spatial dropout, batch normalization, and separable 2D inspired by VGGnet [1]. In addition, we reduced the model size by using model quantization of float16 to the trained model. Experiments were conducted on the updated dataset provided by the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Events and Scenes (DCASE) 2020 challenge. We confirm that our model achieved a val_loss of 0.33 and an accuracy of 90.34% within the 132.50KB model size.

Image deblurring aims to remove image blur, which can be generated while shooting the pictures by the movement of objects, camera shake, blurring of focus, and so forth. With the rise in popularity of smartphones, it is common to carry portable digital cameras daily, so image deblurring techniques have become more significant recently. Originally, image deblurring techniques have been studied using traditional optimization techniques. Then with the recent attention on deep learning, deblurring methods based on convolutional neural networks have been actively proposed. However, most of them have been developed while focusing on better performance. Therefore, it is not easy to use in real situations due to the speed of their algorithms. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel deep learning-based deblurring algorithm that can be operated in real-time on HD resolution. In addition, we improved the training and inference process and could increase the performance of our model without any significant effect on the speed and the speed without any significant effect on the performance. As a result, our algorithm achieves real-time performance by processing 33.74 frames per second at 1280×720 resolution. Furthermore, it shows excellent performance compared to its speed with a PSNR of 29.78 and SSIM of 0.9287 with the GoPro dataset.

Rice paper is an element of Vietnamese cuisine that can be used to wrap vegetables and meat. Rice and starch are the main ingredients of rice paper and their mixing ratio is important for quality control. In a commercial factory, assessment of food safety and quantitative supply is a challenging issue. A rapid and non-destructive monitoring system is therefore necessary in commercial production systems to ensure the food safety of rice and starch flour for the rice paper wrap. In this study, fluorescence hyperspectral imaging technology was applied to classify grain flours. Using the 3D hyper cube of fluorescence hyperspectral imaging (fHSI, 420 - 730 nm), spectral and spatial data and chemometric methods were applied to detect and classify flours. Eight flours (rice: 4, starch: 4) were prepared and hyperspectral images were acquired in a 5 (L) × 5 (W) × 1.5 (H) cm container. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA), partial least square discriminant analysis (PLSDA), support vector machine (SVM), classification and regression tree (CART), and random forest (RF) with a few preprocessing methods (multivariate scatter correction [MSC], 1st and 2nd derivative and moving average) were applied to classify grain flours and the accuracy was compared using a confusion matrix (accuracy and kappa coefficient). LDA with moving average showed the highest accuracy at A = 0.9362 (K = 0.9270). 1D convolutional neural network (CNN) demonstrated a classification result of A = 0.94 and showed improved classification results between mimyeon flour (MF)1 and MF2 of 0.72 and 0.87, respectively. In this study, the potential of non-destructive detection and classification of grain flours using fHSI technology and machine learning methods was demonstrated.
With the recent development of deep convolutional neural network learning, deep learning techniques applied to single image super-resolution are showing good results. One of the existing deep learning-based super-resolution techniques is RDN(Residual Dense Network), in which the initial feature information is transmitted to the last layer using residual dense blocks, and subsequent layers are restored using input information of previous layers. However, if all hierarchical features are connected and learned and a large number of residual dense blocks are stacked, despite good performance, a large number of parameters and huge computational load are needed, so it takes a lot of time to learn a network and a slow processing speed, and it is not applicable to a mobile system. In this paper, we use the residual dense structure, which is a continuous memory structure that reuses previous information, and the residual dense channel attention block using the channel attention method that determines the importance according to the feature map of the image. We propose a method that can increase the depth to obtain a large receptive field and maintain a concise model at the same time. As a result of the experiment, the proposed network obtained PSNR as low as 0.205dB on average at 4× magnification compared to RDN, but about 1.8 times faster processing speed, about 10 times less number of parameters and about 1.74 times less computation.
