Culture Conditions on the Early Growth of Hizikia fusiformis(Phaeophyta) (톳(Hizikia fusiformis)의 초기생장에 대한 배양조건)

  • Effects of light and temperature on the early growth of Hizikia fusiformis were investigated for establishment of artificial seed production. Young germlings were cultured for 70 days under different culutre conditions : light intensities (500, 1, 000, 2, 000, 4, 000, 8, 000 lux), photoperiods (8 : 16, 12 : 12, 16 : 8, (L : D)) and temperatue (10, 15, 20, 25, $30^{\circ}C$). Growth of the germlings was facilitated in 2, 000~4, 000 lux of light intensities, 16 : 8 (L:D) of photoperiods and 15~$20^{\circ}C$ of temperature. Culture conditions were revealed for the mass culture of artificial seeds of effective early growth in Hizikia cultivation.

  • LINK16 is a system which is designed to maximize performance in a particular tactical environment with high levels of jamming. In this paper, transmission performance of synchronization pattern for cipher communication in aerial tactical communication link is presented. Transmission architecture of operating mode (standard DP, P2SP, P2DP, P4mode) in LINK16 network is discussed, and an effect of synchronization pattern, a quality of degraded effect of transmission communication for collision probability between hopping frequencies and fading channel in crypto communication is analyzed.

  • To enhance the performance of the IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless access system, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of the radio link. The efficiency of the uplink can be improved by using more efficient random access method. As new random access methods, we propose a RA_NBRM method which is based on the number of bandwidth request messages and a RA_CRA method which is based on the conflict resolution algorithm. The simulation results show that the performance of the new methods is superior to that of the existing binary exponential backoff method.

Thermal Resistance and daf-16 Regulation of Fermented Zizyphus jujuba Fruits in Caenorhabditis elegans

  • The mechanism of anti-aging of fermented jujube (Zizyphus jujuba fruits (ZJF)) was investigated using transgenic daf-16 and mev-1 strains of C. elegans. Jujube extracts fermented for 7 days (F7-ZJF) and 14 days (F14-ZJF) with Laetiporus sulphureus were treated to a NGM agar plate with 10-15 transgenic daf-16 and mev-1 strains of the synchronized age. There was no difference of lifespan between the drug-treated group (7-day fermented ex. (F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL), 14-day fermented ex. (F14-zjf-200 ㎍/mL)) and the non-treatment group in both daf-16 and mev-1 strains. In the thermal stress experiment, F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL showed a significant (t = 4.017) activity in thermal stress resistance with a 12% higher survival rate than the control group. In the survival test in H2O2, F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL and F14-zjf-100 ㎍/mL have significant activity in oxidative stress resistance compared to the control group. This study indicates that life span expand of N2 strain of the jujube extract is related to the regulation of daf-16 and inhibition of mev-1 signal in C. elegans.

Isolation of Lactococci Inhibiting Listeria monocytogenes from Kimchi Habitat and Its Identification by 16S rDNA Analysis (김치 서식처에서 Listeria monocytogenes를 억제하는 lactococci의 분리와 16S rDNA분석에 의한 동정)

  • A bacteriocin-producing strain was isolated from kimchi at the early stage of kimchi fermentation. It was identified as Lactococcus lactis by morphological, cultural and physiological characteristics and partial sequence of 16S rDNA. The bacteriocin from isolate had antimicrobial activity against gram positive pathogenic bacteria, such as Listeria monocytogenes. Staphylococcus aureus and several strains of lactic acid bacteria but not to gram negative bacteria, Yersinia enterocolitica. The bacteriocin was sensitive to protease, protease ⅩⅣ, a-chymotrypsin and pepsin but not to lipase, trypsin and lysozyme. The bacteriocin activity was stable at pH 2-11 and temperature of 100 for 10 min. Thus, Listeria monocytogenes could be inhibited by Lactococcus lactis at early stage of fermentation.

  • This paper proposes an approximated soft decision demapping algorithm with low computational complexity for coded 4+12+16 amplitude phase shift keying (APSK) in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. To derive the proposed algorithm, we approximate the decision boundaries for 4+12+16 APSK symbols, and then decide the log likelihood ratio (LLR) value for each bit from the approximated decision boundaries. Although the proposed algorithm shows about 0.6~1.1dB degradation on the error performance compared with the conventional max-log algorithm, it gives a significant result in terms of the computational complexity.

  • The crystal structure of isoimperatorin, f-[(3-methyl-2-butenyl)oxy]-7H-furo[3,2-g][1] benzopyran-7-one, has been determined from single crystal x-ray diffraction study; C16H14O4, Monoclinic, P21/c, a=8.865(1) Å, b=9.331(1) Å, c=16.156(1) Å, β=98.12(1)', V=1322.9(2) Å3, T=293(2)K, z=4, Cu Kα(λ=1.5418 Å). The structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least squares to a final R=5.72% for 1922 unique observed Fo>4o(F0) reflections and 182 parameters.

Expression of Gal4-VP16 and Gal4-DNA binding domain under the control of the T lymphocyte-specific lck proximal promoter in transgenic mice

  • Thymocyte-specific transcriptional regulatory systems can be used to better understand the relationship between transcription and V(D)J recombination during early T cell development. In this study, we generated transgenic mice expressing the transactivator Gal4-VP16 or the Gal4 DNA binding domain (Gal4-DBD) under the control of the lck proximal promoter, which is only active in immature thymocytes. From these studies Gal4-VP16 and Gal4-DBD expression was shown to significantly alter thymic cellularity and differentiation without significantly changing the $CD3^+$ thymocyte distribution. Furthermore, the presence of Gal4-VP16 or Gal4-DBD in the transgenic thymocytes retarded the mobility of the Gal4 DNA binding motif as determined by a gel mobility shift assay, suggesting that the developmental alteration did not affect the functional property of the transgenic proteins. These results indicated that lck promoter-driven Gal4-VP16 or Gal4-DBD expression did not affect $CD3^+$ mature thymocytes, thus this system can be applied to study transcriptional regulation of transresponder genes in bigenic mouse model thymocytes.

  • This study is about the excavated female shroud while moving the graveyard of Nam-yang Hong clan in Yang-pyeong, Gyeonggi Province to other place. It is acquired as Yeon-An Kim clan who is a wife of one of Nam-yang Hong clan and history is estimated to 16th Century. Significance of this excavated female costumes is, 1) a Dan-ryeong, which is typical costumes during 16C. for woman is excavated. It is embroidered with peacocks shaped badge in fore and backside on a clothes, which is understood as the symbol of highest status but it is considered as much higher than actual status of her husband. from this, we can assume that burial costumes and regulation for actual clothes by the status are not exactly matched. 2) Various form of Chima and Jegori also found in the grave along with a Buddhist banner(幡) printed with Darani(多羅尼) which is unusual in Chosun dynasty, under confucian influence. 3) An embroidered design pillow was collected first time, which make us enable to understand the in-house life style of 16C.

A Study on Inter Prediction Mode Determination using the Variance in the Motion Vectors (움직임 벡터의 변화량을 이용한 인터 예측 모드 결정에 관한 연구)

  • H.264/AVC is an international video coding standard that is established in cooperation with ITU-T VCEG and ISO/IEC MPEG, which shows improved code and efficiency than the previous video standards. Motion estimation using various macroblock from 44 to 1616 among the compression techniques of H.264/AVC contributes much to high compression efficiency. Generally, in the case of small motion vector or low complexity about P slice is decided $P16{\times}16$ mode encoding method. But according to circumstances, macroblock is decided $P16{\times}16$ mode despite large motion vector. If the motion vector variance is more than threshold and final select mode is $P16{\times}16$ mode, it is switched to $P8{\times}8$ mode, so this paper shows that the storage capacity is reduced. The results of experiment show that the proposed algorithm increases the compression efficiency of the H.264/AVC algorithm to 0.4%, even reducing the time and without increasing complexity.
