The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of cleansing action of irrigation solutions which are 3% hydrogen peroxide, 5% sodium hypochlorite and 15% EDTA solution on the root canal wall. After the root canal wall is enlarged with K-file in distilled water, the canal wall which is irrigated with each irrigant for 2 minutes, is compared with the. control group without using any irrigants. Each sample is dehydrated, and coated with 200-250${\AA}$ of gold, and observations are made with the use of scanning electron microscope. The results are as follows: 1. The canal walls irrigated with 3% hydrogen peroxide, 5% sodium hypochlorite and 15% EDTA solution are cleaner than the walls without using irrigants. 2. There are no significant difference of cleansing effect among 3% hydrogen peroxide, 5% sodium hypochlorite and 15% EDTA. 3. After using 3% hydrogen peroxide and 5% sodium hypochlorite solution, large debris are removed on root canal walls, but micro debris remain on the canal walls. 4. The root canal walls irrigated with 15% EDTA solution are decalcifed slightly and show clean surfaces.

We evaluated storage stability of hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, glutaraldehyde and didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (DDAC). Hydrogen peroxide and DDAC have been stabilized for 6-month storage at room temperature and $4^{\circ}C$ after opening. However sodium hypochlorite and glutaraldehyde were degraded to 15% and 39% for 6 month storage at $4^{\circ}C$ after opening, respectively. Therefore we have to take special attention wherever long term storing hydrogen peroxide and DDAC, also organic contents and pH in water should be considered for effective application in fish farms.

The bleaching of discolored nonvital teeth is conservative treatment that satisfy the cosmetic desire. The most common method for this treatment, walking bleaching, is using 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate. Many alternatives are suggested for preventing the external cervical root resorption that is the common complication of the nonvital teeth bleaching with 30% hydrogen peroxide The same extent of oxidation reactions as that resulted by the bleaching with the application of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate can also be acquired more safely by materials that contain 10% carbamide peroxide, used primarily for the bleaching of vital teeth. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of 10% and 15% carbamide peroxide bleaching gel in nonvatal teeth bleaching. The internal bleaching of intentionally discolored teeth was performed in vitro with 10% carbamide peroxide (Group 1), 15% carbamide peroxide (Group 2), mixture of distilled water and sodium perborate (Group 3), and mixture of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate (Group 4). The bleaching materials were refreshed following 3, 6, 9 and 12 days. To evaluate the bleaching effect, the color change of the crowns was measured at 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 15 days of bleaching using the colorimeter. The results were as follows:1. L$^*$ and $\Delta$E$^*$ values were increased with time in all bleaching agents (p<0.01). 2. There was no significant difference in L$^*$ and $\Delta$E$^*$ value among bleaching agents. 3. $\Delta$E$^*$ value higher than 3 was shown after 3 days of bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide gel, 1 day with 15% carbamide poroxide gel, 4 days with mixture sodium perborate and distilled water and 4 days with mixture sodium perborate and 30% hydrogen peroride, respectively. These results revealed that the use of 10% and 15% carbamide peroxide bleaching gel in non-vital teeth bleaching is as effective as mixture of distilled water and sodium perborate and mixture of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate. Accordingly, carbamide peroxide could be used clinically to bleach discolored non-vital teeth.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of baicalein (BA) on the production of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide (NO) in RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages stimulated with polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly-IC) and lipoteichoic acid. Methods : RAW 264.7 co-stimulated with poly-IC and lipoteichoic acid were incubated with baicalein at concentrations of 25 and 50 μM. Incubation time is 16 h, 18 h, 20 h, 22 h, and 24 h. After incubation, The production of hydrogen peroxide in RAW 264.7 was measured with dihydrorhodamine 123 assay. Chrysin was used as a comparative material. NO production was evaluated by griess assay. Results : For 16 h, 18 h, 20 h, 22 h, and 24 h incubation, BA at the concentration of 25 and 50 μM significantly inhibited the production of hydrogen peroxide in RAW 264.7 stimulated by poly-IC and lipoteichoic acid (p <0.001). In details, production of hydrogen peroxide in 'poly-IC and lipoteichoic acid'-stimulated RAW 264.7 treated for 16 h with BA at concentrations of 25 and 50 μM was 82.36% and 77.24% of the control group treated with poly-IC and lipoteichoic acid only, respectively; the production of hydrogen peroxide for 18 h was 83.15% and 77.91%, respectively;production of hydrogen peroxide for 20 h was 82.88% and 77.82%, respectively; production of hydrogen peroxide for 22 h was 83.27% and 78.17%, respectively; production of hydrogen peroxide for 24 h was 83.54% and 78.35%, respectively. Additionally, BA at the concentration of 50 and 100 μM significantly inhibited NO production in lipoteichoic acid-induced RAW 264.7 (p <0.001). Conclusions : BA might have anti-oxidative activity related to its inhibition of hydrogen peroxide production in 'poly-IC and lipoteichoic acid'-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of ozonated water and ozonated water+hydrogen peroxide treatment of residual procymidone in perilla leaf containing 20 mg/L procymidone. Samples was treated with ozonated water containing 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 mg $O_3/L$ ozone and hydrogen peroxide water containing 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 mg $H_2O_2/L$ hydrogen peroxide in pH 5, 7 and 9, respectively, at $15^{\circ}C$. Procymidone removal rate was 26.5% in 7 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and optimum condition of procymidone removal was the case of treating with ozonated water containing 2.0 mg $O_3/L$ and pH 9. As the result procymidone removal rate was about 96.5%. In this case of adding hydrogen peroxide, optimum condition of procymidone removal was $1:0.5{\sim}1(O_3:H_2O_2)$. However, procymidone was nearly removed with the treatment of hydrogen peroxide water only.
Streptomyces coeUc%r (Muller) cells were treated with $100 \mu$M hydrogen peroxide for I hour and proteins synthesized during hydrogen peroxide stress were labeled with L-[$^{35}S$]-methionine. Total cellular proteins were extracted and analyzed by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. In exponential growth phase, synthesis of about 100 proteins was increased by hydrogen peroxide treatment. These proteins were named as Pin (£eroxide-inducib]e) proteins and classified into 4 subgroups according to their induction time after hydrogen peroxide treatment. About 60 of them were found to be induced within 20 minutes and maintained throughout I hour of treatment. In stationary growth phase. synthesis of 62 proteins was increased by hydrogen peroxide and 21 of them were the same Pins found in exponential growth phase. Proteins from the mutants which are resistant to hydrogen peroxide were obtained in exponential growth phase and compared with those from the wild type on two-dimensional gel. The three mutants, N7, N9. and N24, were found to have higher constitutive leve]s of ]5, 17, and 15 Pin proteins respectively, than the wild type. 9 of these Pin proteins (D74.7a, E76.0c, E23.3. F50.7, F47.2a. F25.5, G39.6b, G24.0, H39.6a) increased in two of the three mutants and 3 proteins (F39.7, H6I.7. 120.8) increased in all of the three mutants. These proteins might play important roles in the response of S. coelic%r to hydrogen peroxide.
Mesoporous SBA-15 was synthesized using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as the silica source and Pluronic (P123) as the structure-directing agent. The defective Si-OH groups present in SBA-15 were successively grafted with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (CPTMS) followed by tris-(2-aminoethyl) amine (TAEA) and/or tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) for effective immobilization of silver nanoparticles. Grafting of TAEA and/or TEPA amine and immobilization of silver nanoparticles inside the channels of SBA-15 was verified by XRD, TEM, IR and BET techniques. The silver nanoparticles immobilized on TAEA and /or TEPA grafted SBA-15 was subjected for electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$). The TEPA stabilized silver nanoparticles show higher efficiency for reduction of $H_2O_2$ than that of TAEA, due to higher number of secondary amine groups present in TEPA. The amperometric analysis indicated that both the Ag/SBA-15/TAEA and Ag/SBA-15/TEPA modified electrodes required lower over-potential and hence possess high sensitivity towards the detection of $H_2O_2$. The reduction peak currents were linearly related to hydrogen peroxide concentration in the range between $3{\times}10^{-4}\;M$ and $2.5{\times}10^{-3}\;M$ with correlation coefficient of 0.997 and detection limit was $3{\times}10^{-4}\;M$.
Fucoidans were degraded by hydrogen peroxide under the electron beam (2.5 MeV) with various radiation doses (5 kGy, 10 kGy, 15 kGy, and 20 kGy) at room temperature. The degradation property was analyzed with a gel permeation chromatography (GPC-MALLS) method. An average molecular weight of fucoidan decreased from 99,956 at the irradiation dose of 0 kGy to 6,725 at the irradiation dose of 20 kGy. The solution viscosity of fucoidans showed a similar pattern to the molecular weight change. The number of chain breaks per molecule (N) increased with increasing the irradiation dose and concentration of hydrogen peroxide. The radiation yield of scission value markedly increased with increasing the irradiation dose up to 15 kGy. Also a 10% hydrogen peroxide concentration was more efficient than that of 5%. The structures of degraded fucoidan samples were studied with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results showed that the degradation process did not significantly change the chemical structure or the content of sulfate group. The sulfur content of each sample was determined with an Elemental Analyzer. With increasing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the ratios of sulfur/carbon, hydrogen/carbon, and nitrogen/carbon slightly decreased. The antioxidant activities of fucoidans were investigated based on hydroxyl radical scavenging activities. The ability of fucoidan to inhibit the hydroxyl radical scavenging activity was depended on its molecular weight.
The feasibility and efficiency of the hydrogen peroxide produced by an electrolysis cell reactor was investigated, From regulating voltages for the given reaction time, the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide was gradually increased with increasing voltages. Optimal voltage range was found to be 10~15 V. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide was much higher with oxygen gas than without oxygen gas in the cathodic chamber. But there was a little difference in the generating rate of hydrogen peroxide regardless of the presence of nitrogen gas. Under given conditions, the maximum value of ICE(Instantaneous Current Efficiency) was about 38%, and then current density was 74 $mA/\textrm{cm}^2.$ The specific energy consumption was $0.694[kWh/kg-H_2O_2].$ Since Esp (Specific Energy Consumption)was very little value, It did not demand high energy in this system. Using the hydrogen peroxide gained in the experiment, Fenton's reaction was conducted and the removal of nitrobenzene, 3-chlorophenol and dye wastewater was studied. This results were very similar to the Fenton's reaction by using commercial hydrogen peroxide.
The purpose of this study was to examine the shear bond strength of resin-enamel bond formed at specific time intervals after the termination ov vital bleaching. A total of 72 human extracted maxillary premolars were divided into nine groups : untreated control (group 1) ; enamel treated with 35% hydrogen peroxide(group 2, 3, 4, 5) ; and enamel reated with 15% carbamide peroxide gel (group 6, 7, 8, 9). After the treatment with 35% hydrogen peroxide for 2 hours and 15% carbamide peroxide for 24 hours, adhesion of a resin to bleached enamel was formed at 1 hour (group 2, 6) and 24 hours(group 3, 7) ; 3days(group 4, 8) and 7 days(group 5, 9) post-termination of bleaching treatment. A $3{\times}3mm$ mold was filled with Scotchbond Multi-Purpose and Z100. After 24 hours later, the specimens were shear-tested at crosshead speed 1mm/min and analyzed statistically. Fractured specimens from group 1,2, 6 were gold-coated with Eiko ion coater and observed under Scanning electron microscope at 25KV. The following results results were obtained : 1. Bonds formed at 1 hour post-termination of 35 % hydrogen peroxide(P<0.01) and 15 % carbamide peroxide bleaching treatment groups(P<0.05) showed significantly lower shear bond strength than untreated group. 2. Bonds formed at 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days post-termination of 35% hydrogen peroxide and 15 % carbamide peroxide bleaching treatment groups showed no significant differences in shear bond strength with untreated group(p>0.05). 3. SEM examinations of the untreated fracture specimen indicated cohesive fracture within enamel and exposed enamel prisms, but the bleached fracture specimens indicated adhesive fracture.
