Coronoid process hyperplasia (CPH) of the mandible is a rare condition in which abnormal elongation of the coronoid process leads to chronic mandibular hypomobility. CPH causes impingement or impedance of the coronoid process on the inner surface of the frontal part of the zygomatic bone during mouth opening. The lack of significant symptoms makes the diagnosis difficult. Its etiology remains inconclusive despite several theories being suggested. In this report, three reviewed cases are presented. All three patients visited our clinic with limited mouth opening as the chief complaint. Standard clinical and radiographic examinations were conducted under the initial impression of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), and restricted jaw movements were confirmed in all cases. The absence of improved signs and symptoms following conservative treatment for TMDs or the indeterminate plain radiographs required the attending clinicians to consider three-dimensional imagery. Computed tomography revealed bilateral coronoid hyperplasia in all cases and impingement on the zygomatic bone in two of the three cases. After concluding that this condition caused the patients' limited mouth opening, the patients were referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for possible bilateral coronoidectomy or coronoidotomy. CPH usually presents no symptoms apart from a progressive reduction of mouth opening over time. Diagnosis is often delayed, and patients may undergo unnecessary treatment procedures. Clinicians should be aware of this condition and exercise caution in the differential diagnosis of patients with chronic mandibular hypomobility.

Uterine rupture is uncommon in small animals and can be caused by trauma, infection, dead fetus, or inappropriate obstetric techniques. A 4-year-old, intact female mixed-breed dog weighing 3 kg presented for elective ovariohysterectomy with a history of a motor vehicle accident two months previously. The patient showed no clinical signs of uterine abnormalities or evidence of pregnancy during physical examination. Clinical examinations, radiography, and ultrasonography revealed no significant findings. During ovariohysterectomy, a completely transected left uterine horn and dome-shaped ends were identified. The uterine layers were everted such that the endometrium could be seen outside the uterine horn. The dog recovered without post-operative complications and was discharged the following day. This report describes a rare case of an asymptomatic uterine rupture caused by trauma in a non-gravid dog.

Radial nerve palsy after surgery of humerus fracture is uncommon complication. Occasionally it needs operative treatment because of difficulty to accurate evaluation. We report this case of radial nerve palsy after surgery of humerus shaft fracture with ultrasound examination. We checked the continuity of radial nerve and radial nerve palsy was complete recovered with conservative treatment.

Anatomical reduction and strong fixation in displaced patella fracture are needed for restoration of knee function and strength and early range of motion exercise. According to the type of fracture and various operational methods, their many complications have been reported. We report 2 cases of transverse patella fracture which were caused by transverse screw fixation in longitudinal patella fracture and fracture of bipartite patella in athletes.

The fur mite is a highly contagious zoonotic mite that causes skin disorders in rabbits. In this case report, four rabbits with a fur mite infestation were treated with a single dermal application of permethrin (65%) at a dose of 0.1 ml. All the rabbits were treated successfully with permethrin without any adverse reactions at 8 weeks after treatment. This suggests that permethrin is an effective treatment for fur mite infestations in rabbits.

Purpose: The study explored the influence of the suicide of two famous entertainers on the suicide attempts of the public. Method: The subjects of the descriptive study were 888 suicide attempt patients recruited from October 2007 to September 2009 in an emergency centre located in S-city. The research tools were developed at the Centre for Disease Control. Results: The frequency of suicide attempts during the 6 months and 12 months preceding and following the gas-related suicide of celebrity A were ${\chi}^2$=18.14 and ${\chi}^2$=25.97, respectively, and both were significant(both p<.001). The frequency of suicide attempts of the 6 and 12months before and after the release of report of celebrity B's hanging suicide were ${\chi}^2$=3.85 and ${\chi}^2$=3.47, respectively, and both were significant (both p<.05). Conclusion: These results showed that reports of suicide of celebrities influences suicide attempts of the public. Multiple factors that can influence suicide attempts should be further identified and researched.

This report documents a case of paraplegia which apparently occurred following epidural injection of triamcinolone (40 mg) and 0.125% bupivacaine(10 ml). The patient's condition was progressive until she experienced paraplegia and dissociative sensory loss below T5(Rt) and T10(Lt) dernatomes, along with urinary and fecal incontinence lasting 24 hours. CT and MRI were normal. Three months after the onset of paraplegia, the patient could only slightly move her legs. After 8 months of the initial paraplegia, she was able to walk with assistance, and to perceive pinrick sensation in her right leg, and tingling in her left leg. She could also void and defecate. At 16 months, paraplegia and sensory loss were slightly recovered. The cause for this paraplegia is still unknown, but it may be from exacerbation of preexisting disease, acute transverse myelitis, anterior spinal artery syndrome, or neurotoxicity.

Objectives: The present study reports a case of chronic anemia patient who was significantly improved after taking Nokyongdaebo-tang (NYDBT) Methods: A 48-year-old male patient diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) visited the Daejeon Korean medicine Hospital of Daejeon University on June 2018. The patient was treated with Korean medicine for 23 months including acupuncture, herbal medicine and Sasang constitutional medicine prescription. Improvement of anemia was assessed by changes of Hemoglobin value. Laboratory analysis was used to evaluate the safety of treatment. Results: Chronic anemia has significantly improved since taking NYDBT on 9 days (2019.12.09-2019.12.17). The Hb value has been maintained in the normal range since it first entered the normal range on January 18, 2020. The patient had become transfusion-free and this condition persisted for 6 months after stopping the transfusion. Conclusion: This case demonstrates the therapeutic potential of Sasang constitutional medicine for chronic anemia as a personalized medicine.

Objectives : This case report aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of incisional needle therapy in treating facial scars resulting from autoimmune disorder. Methods : A single case of a 29-year-old female patient with facial scars due to systemic sclerosis was treated with incisional needle therapy. The treatment was applied over 14 sessions from February to September 2023. The efficacy of the treatment was evaluated using clinical photographs and the Physician's Global Assessment(PGA). Results : The treatment significantly improved scar appearance and reduced blood vessel visibility. The PGA scores, with an average of 2.66, indicating moderate improvement. Conclusions : Incisional needle therapy demonstrated potential as an effective treatment for scars caused by autoimmune disorders, due to minimal side effects and non-interference with ongoing treatments. It offers a promising alternative to conventional treatments, suggesting a need for further research for wider applications.

Nevus lipomatosus superficialis (NLS) is a hamartoma of adipose tissue, rarely reported in the past 100 years. We treated one case, and we conducted a systematic review of the literature. A 41-year-old man presented with a cutaneous multinodular lesion in the posterior region near the right auricle. The lesion was excised and examined histopathologically. To review the literature, we searched PubMed with the keyword "NLS." The search was limited to articles written in English and whose full text was available. We analyzed the following data: year of report, nation of corresponding author, sex of patient, age at onset, duration of disease, location of lesion, type of lesion, associated symptoms, pathological findings, and treatment. Of 158 relevant articles in PubMed, 112 fulfilled our inclusion criteria; these referred to a total of 149 cases (cases with insufficient clinical information were excluded). In rare cases, the diagnosis of NLS was confirmed when the lesion coexisted with sebaceous trichofolliculoma and Demodex infestation. Clinical awareness for NLS has increased recently. NLS is an indolent and asymptomatic benign neoplasm that may exhibit malignant behavior in terms of huge lesion size and specific anatomical location. Early detection and curative treatment should be promoted.
