Histone acetylation and deacetylation play central roles in the regulation of chromatin structure and transcription by RNA polymerase II (RNA Pol II). Although Hda1 histone deacetylase complex (Hda1C) is known to selectively deacetylate histone H3 and H2B to repress transcription, previous studies have suggested its potential roles in histone H4 deacetylation. Recently, we have shown that Hda1C has two distinct functions in histone deacetylation and transcription. Histone H4-specific deacetylation at highly transcribed genes negatively regulates RNA Pol II elongation and H3 deacetylation at inactive genes fine-tunes the kinetics of gene induction upon environmental changes. Here, we review the recent understandings of transcriptional regulation via histone deacetylation by Hda1C. In addition, we discuss the potential mechanisms for histone substrate switching by Hda1C, depending on transcriptional frequency and activity.
Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by the Hummers and Offeman method from graphite. Two different types of functionalized graphene sheets (FGSs) were synthesized by using GO. Hexamethylamine (HDA) substituted vertically to the graphene sheet (Ver-HDA-GS) was synthesized from HDA and epoxy group in GSs. Whereas, horizontally substituted hexadecanol (HDO) to the GS(Hor-HDO-GS) was synthesized from HDO and alcohol groups via reduced GO (RGO), respectively. The structures of the GO, RGO, Ver-HDA-GS, and Hor-HDO-GS were identified by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). In addition, we examined the thermal stability and morphology. Atomic force microscope (AFM) disclosed that Ver-HDA-GS consisted of one- or two-layer graphene regions. However, the Ver-HDA-GS layers showed average thickness of 1.76 nm. The thermal stabilities of the FGSs were better than those of the GO and RGO. The Ver- HDA-GS was well dispersed in common solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), toluene, chloroform, and decalin.
In this paper, durability evaluation and surface damage mechanism were investigated through solid particle erosion (SPE) test after applying hot-dip aluminizing (HDA) technology for the purpose of maintenance of marine economizer tube. Damaged surface shape was analyzed using SEM and 3D microscope. Compositional changes and microstructure of the HDA layer were analyzed through EDS and XRD. Durability was evaluated by analyzing weight loss and surface damage depth after SPE. HDA was confirmed to have a two-layer structure of Al and Al5Fe2. HDA+HT was made into a single alloy layer of Al5Fe2 by diffusion treatment. In the microstructure of HDA+HT, void and crack defect were induced during the crystal phase transformation process. The SPE damage mechanism depends on material properties. Plastic deformation occurred in the substrate and HDA due to ductility, whereas weight loss due to brittleness occurred significantly in HDA+HT. As a result, the substrate and HDA showed better SPE resistance than HDA+HT.
Autonomous vehicle is a car which drives itself without any human interaction. SAE provides technical definitions for autonomous and international standards for test evaluation. Accordingly, automobile industry is actively researching development and evaluation of various ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), : representative technology of autonomous technology. Recently, ADAS is in the commercialization level such as ACC, LKAS, AEB, and HDA etc. And it also has issues about safety evaluation. The purpose of HDA in ADAS is reduced the driving load on highway. It has a function which can maintain lane keeping and control distance from forward vehicle. This function is evaluated to be useful for accident prevention. Therefore, this paper proposes the safety evaluation scenario of HDA, considering the domestic highway design criteria and the situation that may arise on the actual highway. We compared and analyzed the data acquired through simulation and actual vehicle test. And verified the reliability of the proposed safety evaluation scenario. The verified result is expected safety evaluation of HDA is possible even under the bad condition, which cannot be tested.

Interplay between histone acetylation and deacetylation is one of the key components in epigenetic regulation of transcription. Here we report the requirement of MoHDA1-mediated histone deacetylation during asexual development and pathogenesis for the rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae. Structural similarity and phylogenetic analysis suggested that MoHDA1 is an ortholog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Hda1, which is a representative member of class II histone deacetylases. Targeted deletion of MoHDA1 caused a little decrease in radial growth and large reduction in asexual sporulation. Comparison of acetylation levels for H3K9 and H3K14 showed that lack of MoHDA1 gene led to significant increase in H3K9 and H3K14 acetylation level, compared to the wild-type and complementation strain, confirming that it is a bona fide histone deacetylase. Expression analysis on some of the key genes involved in asexual reproduction under sporulation-promoting condition showed almost no differences among strains, except for MoCON6 gene, which was up-regulated more than 6-fold in the mutant than wild-type. Although the deletion mutant displayed little defects in germination and subsequent appressorium formation, the mutant was compromised in its ability to cause disease. Wound-inoculation showed that the mutant is impaired in invasive growth as well. We found that the mutant was defective in appressorium-mediated penetration of host, but did not lose the ability to grow on the media containing H2O2. Taken together, our data suggest that MoHDA1-dependent histone deacetylation is important for efficient asexual development and infection of host plants in M. oryzae.
In distributed video coding, low complexity encoder can be realized by shifting encoder-side complex processes to decoder-side. However, not only motion estimation/compensation processes but also complex LDPC decoding process are imposed to the Wyner-Ziv decoder, therefore decoder-side complexity has been one important issue to improve. LDPC decoding process consists of numerous iterative decoding processes, therefore complexity increases as the number of iteration increases. This iterative LDPC decoding process accounts for more than 60% of whole WZ decoding complexity, therefore it can be said to be a main target for complexity reduction. Previously, HDA (Hard Decision Aided) method is introduced for fast LDPC decoding process. For currently received parity bits, HDA method certainly reduces the complexity of decoding process, however, LDPC decoding process is still performed even with insufficient amount of parity request which cannot lead to successful LDPC decoding. Therefore, we can further reduce complexity by avoiding the decoding process for insufficient parity bits. In this paper, therefore, a parity request estimation method is proposed using bit plane-wise correlation and temporal correlation. Joint usage of HDA method and the proposed method achieves about 72% of complexity reduction in LDPC decoding process, while rate distortion performance is degraded only by -0.0275 dB in BDPSNR.
Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of water extracts from Nelumbinis semen (NSW) in dopaminergic cells. Methods : We performed 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay, 2,2-azinobis3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) cation scavenging assay, and determination of total polyphenolic content to examine the antioxidant effects of NSW. We also evaluated the neuroprotective effects against 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced toxicity using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)- 2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide assay (MIT) assay, trypan blue cytotoxicity assay, and nitric oxide assay in SH-SY5Y cells and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunohistochemistry in primary rat dopaminergic neurons. Results : NSW showed $IC_{50}$ values of 184.80 and 92.90 ${\mu}$g/mL in DPPH and in ABTS assays, respectively. NSW showed 1.05% of total polyphenol contents. NSW showed protective effect against 6-0HDA-induced neurotoxicity whereas no influence on cell viability at the concentration of 1${\sim}$50 ${\mu}$g/mL. NSW reduced NO generation while 6-OHDA produced it. Moreover, it protected rat dopaminergic neurons against 6-0HDA at a dose of 1 ${\mu}$g/mL. Conclusions : These results indicated that NSW has neuroprotective effect against 6-0HDA-induced neurotoxicity through antioxidant activity in dopaminergic cell culture.
Elongated CdSe nanoparticles with a diameter of 3-7nm have been successfully synthesized using two surfactants of trioctylphospine (TOP) and hexadecylamine (HDA) at $160^{\circ}C$. The formation of elongated CdSe nanoparticles is possibly due to the cooperative effects from both the different binding capability of two surfactants (TOP and HDA) and intrinsically anisotropic crystal structure of the CdSe. The electron diffraction pattern of CdSe nanoparticles revealed the formation of wurzite phase. The CdSe samples showed red-shifted wavelength from 560 to 580nm with increasing the refluxing time due to the gradual growth of CdSe nanoparticles. The relatively broad absorption band can be attributed to the surface state of CdSe nanoparticles. The possible formation mechanism of elongated CdSe nanoparticles was proposed and the characteristics of CdSe have been discussed as well.
The study was carried out to compare the antioxidant activities of products from caramel-type-browning reaction of xylose(XY), glucose(GL), sucrose(SU), glucose + citric acid (GLCA), glucose + sodium citrate(GLSC), glucose + glycine(GLGC) heated at 80, 120 or 140$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. 1. The hydrogen donating ability (HDA) of browning reaction products was generally enhanced as the browning temperature and time increased. The HDAs of the browning reaction products heated at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr were in the order of GLSC (0.387) > GLSC (0.362) > GLCA (0.301) > GL (0.299) > XY (0.290) > SU (0.281). But they were in the order of GLSC (0.543) > SU (0.328) > GL (0.309) > GLGC (0.325) > XY (0.298) > GLCA (0.275) under the condition of heating at 140$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. 2. The antioxidant activities of the anhydrous ethanol extracts of the browning mixtures were inferior to that of TBHQ as measured in com oil, but SU was superior to tocopherol in its antioxidant activity. All the browning mixtures showed antioxidant activities when heated at 80$^{\circ}C$; however, only SU and GLCA showed the activites at 120 or 140$^{\circ}C$. And the antioxidant activity of the SU extract was higher than that of TOCO. The antioxidant activities of the ethanol extracts were in the order of TBHQ > GLCA > GLGC > TOCO > SU > XY > GL > GLSC > control at 80$^{\circ}C$, TBHQ > SU > TOCO > GLCA > control > GLSC> XY > GL > GLGC at 120$^{\circ}C$, and TBHQ > SU > TOCO > GLCA > control > GLSC > GLGC > XY > GL at 140$^{\circ}C$.

This research was carried out to evaluate the royal jelly production in Apis mellifera through the selection of superior honeybee lines. For the study, two inbred honeybee lines A and C were evaluated for the production of royal jelly by their workers, royal jelly production per colony (g), and the acceptance percentage of grafted larvae (%). The results showed that, the average royal jelly production per colony was highest ($33.7{\pm}7.41g$) in the inbred line C in comparison to other lines and the percentage of larvae acceptance ($87.8{\pm}7.5%$) was also highest in the inbred line C in comparison to other liens. The royal jelly produced by the three honeybee lines was analyzed for their trans-10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA) content using a column liquid chromatography technique. Chromatographic results showed that the royal jelly produced by the inbred honeybee line C had the maximum amount of 10-HDA. We also observed age-dependent alterations of the major royal jelly proteins (MRJPs), which were differentially expressed in the two inbred lines and the commercial line, using quantitative real time-PCR (qRT-PCR).
