Synthesis and Properties of Poly(1,1-diethynyl-1-silacyclopent-3-enes and -1-silacyclobutane)

  • Polycarbosilanes containing diacetylene and organosilacyclic groups, such as poly(1,1-diethynyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene), poly(1,1-diethynyl-3-triethylsilyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene), and poly(1,1-diethynyl-1- silacyclobutane), were synthesized by the Glaser oxidative coupling polymerization reactions of 1,1-diethynyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, 1,1-diethynyl-3-triethylsilyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, and 1,1-diethynyl-1-silacyclobutane, respectively. These materials are almost insoluble in usual organic solvents such as $CHCl_3$ and THF. The polymers were characterized by using several spectroscopic methods in solid state. FTIR spectra of all the polymeric materials show that the characteristic C≡C stretching frequencies appear at 2146-2170 $cm^{-1}$, in particular. The polymers in the solid state show that the strong maximum excitation peaks appear at 255-257 nm and the strong maximum fluorescence emission bands at 401-402 nm. About 71-87% of the initial polymer weights remain at 400 ℃ in nitrogen according to thermogravimetric analysis.

  • 1:1 복합 페로스카이트 물질인 La(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O3 and La(Mg1/2Zr1/2)O3의 양이온 규칙 존재와 고주파 유전특성을 x선 회절과 회로망분석기를 사용하여 조사하였다. 기존의 연구에서는 두 물질 모두 양이온 규칙이 없으며 입방정 구조를 갖는다고 보고되었지만, 본 연구에서의 x선 분석에서는 양이온 규칙을 나타내는 초격자회절선과 비입방정 구조를 의미하는 기본회절선의 split이 발견되었다. 고주파 영역에서의 유전율은 La(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O3의 경우 29,La(Mg1/2Zr1/2)O3는 24, 품질계수(Q*f)는 각각 73000, 49000이다. 공진주파수 온도계수는 La(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O3의 경우 - 65ppm/$^{\circ}$C,La(Mg1/2Zr1/2)O3는 -80ppm/$^{\circ}$C로 음의 값을 가진다.

GSTM1과 GSTT1, 그리고 CYP1A1, CYP2E1 다형성이 폐암발생에 미치는 영향에 대한 환자-대조군연구 (A Case-Control Study on Effects of Genetic Polymorphisms of GSTM1, GSTT1, CYP1A1 and CYP2E1 on Risk of Lung Cancer)

  • 1997년 3월부터 1998년 6월까지 충북대학교병원 내과에 입원하여 치료를 받은 폐암환자 98명과 암 아닌 다른 질환을 가진 대조군 98명을 대상으로 흡연, 음주, 여러 가지 질병과거력 등을 포함한 생활습관과, GSTM1과 GSTT1, 그리고 CYP1A1, CYP1E1 유전자 다형성 양상을 조사하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. GSTM1의 결손은 환자군이 67.01%, 대조군이 58.16%로 확인되었으며, OR(95% CI)이 1.46(0.82-2.62)으로 폐암 발생에 대해 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 2. GSTT1의 결손은 환자군이 58.76%, 대조군이 50.00%로 확인되었으며, OR (95% CD가 1.43(0.81-2.51)으로 폐암 발생과 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 3. CYP1A1 유전자 다형성은 Ile/Ile, Ile/Val, Val/Val 환자군이 각각 59.18%, 35.71%, 5.10%, 대조군이 각각 52.04%, 45.92%, 2.04%로 CYP1A1 유전자 다형성과 폐암 위험도 사이의 관련성은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다$(x^2trend=0.253,\;p-value>0.05)$. 4. CYP1E1 유전자 다형성은 c1/c1, c1/c2, c2/c2 형 이 환자군에서 각각 50.00%, 42.86%, 7.14%, 대조군에서 각각 66.33%, 30.61%, 3.06%로 CYP1E1 활성이 폐암 발생에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다$(x^2trend=5.783,\;p-value<0.05)$. 특히 환자군이 대조군에 비하여 아주 드문 대립유전자인 c2형이 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 5. 폐암과 밀접한 연관이 있는 흡연습관의 OR(95% CI)이 3.03(1.58-5.81)으로 확인되어, 폐암의 위험인자로 재확인 되었다. 6. GSTM1, GSTT1, CYP1A1, CYP2-E1과 흡연습관을 포함한 다변량 분석에서 흡연습관만이 유의한 폐암의 위험인자로 나타났다. 이 결과로부터 위의 4가지 유전자의 다형성이 폐암발생에 미치는 영향은, 흡연을 포함한 환경적 요인에 비하여 크지 않을 것으로 판단된다.

Susceptibility of Lung Cancer with Polymorphisms of CYP1A1, GSTM1, GSTM3, GSTT1 and GSTP1 Genotypes in the Population of Inner Mongolia Region

  • Background: To study the relationship of susceptibility to lung cancer with the gene polymorphisms of CYP1A1, GSTM1, GSTM3, GSTT1, GSTP1 and smoking status in Han and Mongolian populations of Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of China. Materials and Methods: PCR-RFLP, allele-specific and multiplex PCR were employed to identify the genotypes of CYP1A1, GSTM1, GSTM3, GSTT1 and GSTP1 in a case-control study of 322 lung cancer patients diagnosed by bronchoscopy and 456 controls free of malignancy. Results: There is a significant difference in genotypic frequency of GSTT1 of healthy Mongolian and Han subjects. A statistically prominent association was found between CYP1A1 Msp1 (vt/vt) (OR=4.055, 95%CI:2.107-7.578, p=0.000), GSTM1 (-) (OR=2.290, 95%CI:1.467-3.573, p=0.000) and lung cancer in Mongolians. Similarly, in the Han population, CYP1A1 Msp1 (vt/vt) (OR=3.194, 95%CI:1.893-5.390, p=0.000) and GSTM1 (-) (OR=1.884, 95%CI:1.284-2.762, p=0.001) carriers also had an elevated risk of lung cancer. The smokers were more susceptible to lung cancer 2.144 fold and 1.631 fold than non-smokers in Mongolian and Han populations, respectively. The smokers who carried with CYP1A1 Msp1 (wt/vt+vt/vt), exon7 (Val/Val+Ile /Val), GSTM1 (-), GSTM3 (AB+BB), and GSTT1 (-) respectively were found all to have a high risk of lung cancer. Conclusions: CYP1A1 Msp1 (vt/vt) and GSTM1 (-) are risk factors of lung cancer in Han and Mongolian population in the Inner Mongolia region. The smokers with CYP1A1 Msp1 (wt/vt+vt/vt), CYP1A1 exon7 (Val/Val+Ile /Val), GSTM1 (-), GSTM3 (AB+BB), and GSTT1 (-) genotypes, respectively, are at elevated risk of lung cancer.

  • 캘릭스[n]아렌 (1-4)의 다양한 이형체들에 대한 구조들이 DFT B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) 와 mPW1PW91/ 6-31+G(d,p) (hybrid HF-DF) 계산 방법들에 의하여 최적화 되었다. 모든 캘릭스[n]아렌 (1-4)의 다양한 이형체들 중에서, 수소결합들의 영향으로, cone 이형체가 가장 안정하였다. 그러나, 이형체들의 상대적인 안정성은 다음과 같이 서로 달랐다. 1. t-부틸캘릭스[4]아렌(1): cone > partial-cone > 1,2-alternate > 1,3-alternate. 2. t-부틸캘릭스[5]아렌(2): cone > 1,2-alternate > partial-cone > 1,3-alternate. 3. 탈부틸화된 캘릭스[6]아렌(3): cone(pinched) > partial-cone > cone(winged) ~ 1,2-alternate - 1,2,3-alternate > 1,4-alternate > 1,3-alternate > 1,3,5-alternate. 4. t-부틸캘릭스[6]아렌(4): cone(pinched) > 1,2-alternate > cone(winged) > 1,4-alternate - partial-cone > 1,2,3-alternate > 1,3,5-alternate > 1,3-alternate. 분자 내부의 수소결합의 개수와 강도들이 캘릭스[n]아렌의 다양한 이형체들의 상대적인 안정성에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 인자들이었다. 두 가지 서로 다른 계산방법들 (B3LYP과 mPW1PW91)에 대한 여러 가지 이형체들에서의 수소결합 길이들이 비교되었다.

Blood Lead Concentration Correlates with All Cause, All Cancer and Lung Cancer Mortality in Adults: A Population Based Study

  • Background: This study used National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III to study the relationship between blood lead concentration and all cause, all cancer and lung cancer mortality in adults. Patients and Methods: Public use National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) data were used. NHANES III uses stratified, multistage probabilistic methods to sample nationally representative samples. Household adult, laboratory and mortality data were merged. Sample persons who were available to be examined in aMobile Examination Center (MEC) were included in this study. Specialized survey analysis software was used. Results: A total of 3,482 sample participants with complete information for all variables were included in this analysis. For all cause death, the odds ratios (S.E.) for statistically significant variables were body mass index, 1.03 (1.01-1.06); 1.01 (1.01-1.01); blood lead concentration, 1.05 (1.01-1.08); poverty income ratio, 0.823 (0.76-0.89); and drinking hard liquor, 1.01 (1.00-1.02). For all cancer mortality, the odds ratios (S.E.) of the statistically signigicant variables were: age, 1.01 (1.01-1.01); blood lead concentration, 1.07 (1.04-1.12), black race, using non-Hispanic white as reference, 1.69 (1.12-2.56); and smoking, 1.02 (1.01-1.04). For lung cancer mortality, the odds ratios (S.E.) of the statistically significant variables were: age, 1.01(1.01-1.01); blood lead concentration, 1.09 (1.05-1.13); Mexican Americans, using non-Hispanic white as refrence, 0.33 (0.129-0.850); other races, 1.80 (0.53-6.18); and smoking, 1.03 (1.02-1.05). Conclusion: Blood lead concentration correlated with all cause, all cancer, and lung cancer mortality in adults.

  • 다양한 bis(silacyclopentadienyl)aromatic 화합물 합성에 필요한 전구체인 1,4-bis(alkyldichlorosilyl)benzene을 합성하였다. 이 전구체에 1,4-dilithio-1,2,3,4-tetraphenyl-1,3-butadiene을 첨가하여 고리화반응을 시킴으로써 리간드로 또는 안정한 silacyclopentadienyl anion 전구체로 사용될 1,4-bis(1'-alkyl-2',3',4',5'-tetraphenyl-1'-silacyclopentadienyl)benzene을 합성하였다.

6배체 트리티케일과 4배체호밀 교잡에서의 교잡율, 염색체수 변이 및 작물학적 특성 (Crossability, Variation in Chromosome Number, and Agronomic Characters in Hybrid of Hexaploid Triticale with Tetraploid Rye)

  • 6배체 트리티케일 신기호밀과 4배체 호밀 품종 두루호밀을 교잡하여 이들의 임실율, 잡종 후대들의 염색체수의 변이, 작물학적 특성등을 검토하므로써 트리티케일 품종육성의 기초자료로 제공코져 실시한 본 시험의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 신기호밀(P$_1$)과 두루호밀(P$_2$)의 교잡에서 교잡율은 30.5%, 역교배에서는 3.26%였다. F$_1$/P$_1$(=BC$_1$)에서는 8.75%, F$_1$/P$_2$(=BC$_2$)에서 7.20%, 그리고 F$_1$/F$_1$(=F$_2$)은 1.53%의 교잡율을 보였다. 2. 교잡된 교배종자의 발아율은 F$_1$ 종자 37%, F$_2$ 43.0%, BC$_1$, 39.0%, BC$_2$, 50.0%로 나타났으며, 천립중은 각각 20.7g, 24.5g, 25.4g, 23.6g 이었다. 3. F$_1$(=P$_1$/P$_2$) 식물체의 화분임성은 30.2%였고, 69.8%는 비정상 화분이었다. 4. F$_1$식물체의 화분 모세포 감수분열에서 1가 염색체 13.5%개, 2가 염색체 8.89%, 3가 염색체 1.24개로 2개 염색체는 50.8%였다. 5. 체세포 염색체수는 F$_1$ 35개 였고, F$_2$는 32-33개, 35-36개를 갖는 개체가, BC$_1$은 35-39개를 갖는 개체가 많았다. 그리고 BC$_2$는 28-36개의 분포를 보였다. 이는 F$_1$ 식물체에서 14-18개의 염색체를 갖는 배우자와의 결합이 많음을 보여준다. 6. 임성 개체의 비율은 F$_1$, 100%, F$_2$, 4.5%, BC$_1$, 42.9%, BC$_1$, 50.0%였으며 임성개체의 평균수당 임실립수는 F$_1$, 1.17개, F$_2$, 13.3개, BC$_1$, 2.36개, BC$_2$, 3.75개 였다. 7. 출수기는 F$_1$이 양친의 중간을 보였고, BC$_1$과 BC$_2$는 양친의 영향을 보였으며, F$_2$는 만숙친 보다도 늦었다. 간장은 F$_1$이 장간친과 비슷 하였으나 F$_2$, BC$_1$, BC$_2$는 단간친보다 작았고 특히 BC$_1$은 단간친보다 35cm나 짧았다. 수장과 수당 소수수는 F$_1$이 양친보다 길거나 많았다. 소수당 영화수는 양친의 영향을 크게 받았다.

Field Studios of In-situ Aerobic Cometabolism of Chlorinated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons

  • Results will be presented from two field studies that evaluated the in-situ treatment of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons (CAHs) using aerobic cometabolism. In the first study, a cometabolic air sparging (CAS) demonstration was conducted at McClellan Air Force Base (AFB), California, to treat chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons (CAHs) in groundwater using propane as the cometabolic substrate. A propane-biostimulated zone was sparged with a propane/air mixture and a control zone was sparged with air alone. Propane-utilizers were effectively stimulated in the saturated zone with repeated intermediate sparging of propane and air. Propane delivery, however, was not uniform, with propane mainly observed in down-gradient observation wells. Trichloroethene (TCE), cis-1, 2-dichloroethene (c-DCE), and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration levels decreased in proportion with propane usage, with c-DCE decreasing more rapidly than TCE. The more rapid removal of c-DCE indicated biotransformation and not just physical removal by stripping. Propane utilization rates and rates of CAH removal slowed after three to four months of repeated propane additions, which coincided with tile depletion of nitrogen (as nitrate). Ammonia was then added to the propane/air mixture as a nitrogen source. After a six-month period between propane additions, rapid propane-utilization was observed. Nitrate was present due to groundwater flow into the treatment zone and/or by the oxidation of tile previously injected ammonia. In the propane-stimulated zone, c-DCE concentrations decreased below tile detection limit (1 $\mu$g/L), and TCE concentrations ranged from less than 5 $\mu$g/L to 30 $\mu$g/L, representing removals of 90 to 97%. In the air sparged control zone, TCE was removed at only two monitoring locations nearest the sparge-well, to concentrations of 15 $\mu$g/L and 60 $\mu$g/L. The responses indicate that stripping as well as biological treatment were responsible for the removal of contaminants in the biostimulated zone, with biostimulation enhancing removals to lower contaminant levels. As part of that study bacterial population shifts that occurred in the groundwater during CAS and air sparging control were evaluated by length heterogeneity polymerase chain reaction (LH-PCR) fragment analysis. The results showed that an organism(5) that had a fragment size of 385 base pairs (385 bp) was positively correlated with propane removal rates. The 385 bp fragment consisted of up to 83% of the total fragments in the analysis when propane removal rates peaked. A 16S rRNA clone library made from the bacteria sampled in propane sparged groundwater included clones of a TM7 division bacterium that had a 385bp LH-PCR fragment; no other bacterial species with this fragment size were detected. Both propane removal rates and the 385bp LH-PCR fragment decreased as nitrate levels in the groundwater decreased. In the second study the potential for bioaugmentation of a butane culture was evaluated in a series of field tests conducted at the Moffett Field Air Station in California. A butane-utilizing mixed culture that was effective in transforming 1, 1-dichloroethene (1, 1-DCE), 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane (1, 1, 1-TCA), and 1, 1-dichloroethane (1, 1-DCA) was added to the saturated zone at the test site. This mixture of contaminants was evaluated since they are often present as together as the result of 1, 1, 1-TCA contamination and the abiotic and biotic transformation of 1, 1, 1-TCA to 1, 1-DCE and 1, 1-DCA. Model simulations were performed prior to the initiation of the field study. The simulations were performed with a transport code that included processes for in-situ cometabolism, including microbial growth and decay, substrate and oxygen utilization, and the cometabolism of dual contaminants (1, 1-DCE and 1, 1, 1-TCA). Based on the results of detailed kinetic studies with the culture, cometabolic transformation kinetics were incorporated that butane mixed-inhibition on 1, 1-DCE and 1, 1, 1-TCA transformation, and competitive inhibition of 1, 1-DCE and 1, 1, 1-TCA on butane utilization. A transformation capacity term was also included in the model formation that results in cell loss due to contaminant transformation. Parameters for the model simulations were determined independently in kinetic studies with the butane-utilizing culture and through batch microcosm tests with groundwater and aquifer solids from the field test zone with the butane-utilizing culture added. In microcosm tests, the model simulated well the repetitive utilization of butane and cometabolism of 1.1, 1-TCA and 1, 1-DCE, as well as the transformation of 1, 1-DCE as it was repeatedly transformed at increased aqueous concentrations. Model simulations were then performed under the transport conditions of the field test to explore the effects of the bioaugmentation dose and the response of the system to tile biostimulation with alternating pulses of dissolved butane and oxygen in the presence of 1, 1-DCE (50 $\mu$g/L) and 1, 1, 1-TCA (250 $\mu$g/L). A uniform aquifer bioaugmentation dose of 0.5 mg/L of cells resulted in complete utilization of the butane 2-meters downgradient of the injection well within 200-hrs of bioaugmentation and butane addition. 1, 1-DCE was much more rapidly transformed than 1, 1, 1-TCA, and efficient 1, 1, 1-TCA removal occurred only after 1, 1-DCE and butane were decreased in concentration. The simulations demonstrated the strong inhibition of both 1, 1-DCE and butane on 1, 1, 1-TCA transformation, and the more rapid 1, 1-DCE transformation kinetics. Results of tile field demonstration indicated that bioaugmentation was successfully implemented; however it was difficult to maintain effective treatment for long periods of time (50 days or more). The demonstration showed that the bioaugmented experimental leg effectively transformed 1, 1-DCE and 1, 1-DCA, and was somewhat effective in transforming 1, 1, 1-TCA. The indigenous experimental leg treated in the same way as the bioaugmented leg was much less effective in treating the contaminant mixture. The best operating performance was achieved in the bioaugmented leg with about over 90%, 80%, 60 % removal for 1, 1-DCE, 1, 1-DCA, and 1, 1, 1-TCA, respectively. Molecular methods were used to track and enumerate the bioaugmented culture in the test zone. Real Time PCR analysis was used to on enumerate the bioaugmented culture. The results show higher numbers of the bioaugmented microorganisms were present in the treatment zone groundwater when the contaminants were being effective transformed. A decrease in these numbers was associated with a reduction in treatment performance. The results of the field tests indicated that although bioaugmentation can be successfully implemented, competition for the growth substrate (butane) by the indigenous microorganisms likely lead to the decrease in long-term performance.
