  • 본 연구에서는 오염물의 선택적 흡수가 가능한 반응재료의 분광정보 예측을 위하여 반응재료 배합 조건에 따른 분광정보와 최대건조단위중량의 상관관계를 평가하였다. 그 결과, 배합 조건에 따라 최대건조단위중량 증가하게 되면, 최대분광반사율은 감소하였고, 이를 바탕으로 분광정보 경향의 예측이 가능하였다.

Effect of Cyclic Wetting-drying on Self-healing of Cementitious Materials Containing Superabsorbent Polymers (습윤/건조 반복 작용이 고흡수율 폴리머를 함유한 시멘트계 재료의 자기치유에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of cyclic wetting-drying on the self-healing of cementitious materials containing superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) were experimentally evaluated. In each cycle, cracked cement paste specimens containing various SAP dosages were exposed to wet conditions for 1 h, during which the capillary water absorption tests and water flow tests were conducted, and then exposed to dry conditions for 47 h. The capillary water absorption test results showed that the sorptivity values of the specimen without SAPs, SAP 0.5%, SAP 1.0%, and SAP 1.5% specimens were decreased by approximately 22.9%, 36.8%, 42.8%, and 46.3%, respectively, after 8 cycles. In addition, the water flow test results showed that the amount of water runoff through the cracks of all cracked specimens gradually decreased over wet/dry cycles, especially the reduction ratio of the amount of water runoff increased with increasing SAP dosage. Furthermore, the swelling behavior of SAPs in cracks by in gress water was con firmed via X-ray computed tomography (CT) analysis. These results indicate that the effective crack width can be reduced as SAPs absorb water and swell, while the water absorbed in SAPs can be released to crack surfaces under dry conditions, further promoting healing product formation. This study demon strates that the in corporation of SAPs can in crease the water tightness of cracks, thereby improving the self-healing efficiency of cementitious materials.

Effect of Air Circulation Velocity on the Rate of Lumber Drying in a Small Compartment Wood Drying Kiln (소형 목재인공건조실에 있어서 공기순환속도가 목재건조율에 미치는 영향)

This study indicates that above the fiber saturation point the drying rate can be increased with increasing the velocity of the air circutation, i.e., the drying rate of sample boards is proportional to the air velocity, but below the fiber saturation point, the effect of the velocity of air circulation is very low as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. 2. Under the controlled temperature and humidity in the kiln, the more the sample boards have moisture, the higher drying rate of it can be obtained. In other words, this means that even though in the case of drying various moisture content of wood, at the final drying stage, approximately the same percentage of moisture content of wood can be secured by employing the higher velocity of air circulation. 3. This study shows that the rate of drying in kiln changes distinctly at the fiber saturation point, i, e., above the fiber saturation point, the drying curve shows concave aginst the X axsis, but below the fiber saturation point, in the range from 30 percent of moisture content to 20 percent of moisture content, the curve shows convex as shown in Fig. 3. As the drying progresses, however, the drying curve shows concave again below 20 percent of moisture content. This means that inflection point of drying curve may be located clearly at the fiber saturation point, i.e., 30 percent of moisture content. As mentioned above, the 30 percent of moisture content of wood at which the inflectional point appears can be recognized as a critical point, i. e., the fiber saturation point at which all free water was removed from wood. The existence of inflectional point indicates that the evaporation of hygroscopic water in a cell wall is more difficult than the evaporation of free water in a cell cavity and the minor space of cell wall. The convex curve in the range of moisture content from 30 percent to 20 percent means that the evaporation of capillary condensed water has a tendency of the same rates of drying approximately, but as approaching to the 20 percent of moisture, the transfusion of moisture from wood becomes difficult because of having less moisture in cell wall. Below 20 percent of moisture content, the drying curve shows concave again, which means that it is difficult to remove the moisture located nearer to the surface of cellulose molecules and the surface bound water. These relations were revealed in Fig. 4. In comparison AC curve which does not have the two inflection points with BD curve which has two inflection points, i.e., Band D, they are mentioned already, by existence of the inflection points, the curve BD shows that the change of drying rate in the interval from 20 percent of moisture content to 30 percent of moisture content is not greater than in the case of the curve AC in the same interval. At the inflection point of 30 percent of moisture content, it can be noticed that the changing of the drying rate is very conspicuous. This phenomenon also can be recognized, as it is noticed by the Fig. 3, the drying rate from green to 30 percent of moisture content is very great. But the inclination of the curve is very slow from 30 percent of moisture content to 20 percent of moisture content, i.e., the inclination of the curve becomes almost horizontal lines.   • 강우시 불포화 자연사면의 파괴메커니즘을 규명하기 위하여 사면내 모관흡수력의 변화를 고려한 안정해석을 수행하였다. 사면에는 강우계, Tensiometer, Pizometer, Water mock, 경사계 등이 설치되었으며 강우시 사면내 부간극수압과 임시지하수위의 거동을 관찰하였다. 실내실험으로부터 불포화 사면의 안정해석을 위하여 입력 값으로 사용되는 불포화투수계수, 불포화강도정수를 시료의 No.200체 통과량과 건조밀도를 기준으로 경험계수를 이용하여 추정 사용하였다. 강우의 침투로 인한 사면내 부간극수압의 분포는 계측값과 수치해석결과가 차이를 보였으며 이는 불포화 흐름시 흙속의 공기의 영향, 강우의 나무와 수풀에 의한 중간차단효과 및 증발의 영향을 해석에 고려하지 못했기 때문으로 사료된다. 사면안정해석결과 강우초기 모관흡수력을 고려하는 경우 약 10%의 안전율의 증가를 나타냈으며, 침투가 진행되면서 그 차이는 좁아져 임시지하수위가 표층까지 도달했을 때 흡수력을 고려하지 않는 해석과 안전율은 일치하였다.

Studies on Fire-Retardant-Treatment and Press Drying of Plywood (합판(合板)의 내화처리(耐火處理)와 열판건조(熱板乾燥)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • Plywood used for construction as a decorative inner material is inflammable to bring large fire accidents and burn out human life and their properties. To diminish the fire disaster, fire retardant plywood has been required indeed. In the methods of manufacturing the fire retardant plywood the soaking method is occasionally used. However after soaking plywood into fire retardant chemical solutions, redrying of soaked plywood is the most important. In this study, 3.5mm thin and 5.0mm thick plywoods were selected for fire retardant treatment. Treating solutions were prepared for 20% dilute solutions of ammonium sulfate, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, borax-boric acid and minalith, and water solution. 1-, 3-, 6-, and 9 hour-soaking treatments were applied and after treatments hot plate drying was applied to those treated plywoods at $90^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$, of press temperature. Drying rates, drying curves, water absorption rates of fire retardant chemicals, weight per volume and fire retardant degree of plywood were investigated. The results may be summarized as follows: 1. The plywoods treated with ammonium sulfate, monoammonium phosphate and diammonium phosphate and diammonium phosphate showed increase of chemical absorption rate with proportion to increase of treating time, but not in case of the plywood treated with borax-boric acid and minalith. 2. In the treatment of definite time, the absorption rate per unit of volume of plywood showed higher in thin plywood (thickness of 3.5mm) than in thick plywood (thickness of 5.0mm). In both thin and thick plywoods, the highest absorption rate was observed in 9 hour-treatment of ammonium sulfate. The value was 1.353kg/$(30cm)^3$ in thin plywood and 1.356kg/$(30cm)^3$ in thick plywood. 3. The volume per weight of plywood after chemical treatment increased remarkably and. after hot plate drying, the values were to a little extent higher than before chemical treatment. 4. The swelling rates of thickness in chemical-treated plywoods increased similarly with that of water-treated plywood in 1- and 3 hour-treatment of both thin and thick plywoods. But in 6- and 9 hour-treatment, the greater increased value showed in water-treated ply wood than any other chemical, especially in thick plywood. 5. The shrinkage rates after hot plate drying showed the same tendency as the swelling rate, and the rate showed the increasing tendency with proportion to increase of treating time in thick plywood of both chemical and water treatments. 6. Among drying curves, the curves of water-treated plywood placed more highly than chemical-treated plywood without-relation to thickness in 6- and 9 hour-treatment except in 1- and 3 hour-treatment. 7. The drying rate related to thickness of treated plywood, was twice above in thin plywood compared with thick plywood. 8. The drying rate remarkably increased with proportion to increase of the plate temperature and, the values were respectively 1.226%/min., 6.540%/min., 25.752%/min. in hot plate temperature of $90^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$ in thin plywood and 0.550%/min., 2.490%/min, 8.187%/min, in hot plate temperature of $90^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$ in thick plywood. 9. In the treatment at $120^{\circ}C$ of hot plate temperature, the drying rates of chemical-treated plywood showed the highest value in monoammonium phosphate of thin plywood and in diammonium phosphate of thick plywood. But the drying rate of water-treated plywood was highest in 6- and 9 hour-treatment. 10. The fire retardant degree of chemical-treated plywood was higher than that of the untreated plywood as shown in loss of weight, burning time, flame-exhausted time and carbonized area. 11. The fire-retardant effect among fire retardant chemicals were the greatest in diammonium phosphate, the next were in monoammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate, and the weakest were in borax-boric and minalith.

Effect of Absorbent Materials and Initial Sealed Curing on Drying Shrinkage and Compressive Strength of Hwangtoh Mortar (흡수성 물질과 초기 밀봉양생이 황토 모르타르의 건조수축과 압축강도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of the absorbent materials on the material properties(compressive strength and drying shrinkage) of natural hwangtoh mortar which is one of the traditional building material in Korea. The absorbent materials used are seaweed paste and Super-Absorbent Polymer(SAP). In addition to the absorbent materials, the initial sealed curing recommended by the standard specification of properties for Korean traditional building materials is also a main interest of this study. Based on the test results of 28 days compressive strength and converged drying shrinkage, it is confirmed that the initial sealed curing for 7 days is effective to reduce the drying shrinkage and to enhance the compressive strength. Thus, it is verified that the recommendation is reasonable and has positive effects on the properties of the mortar. Next, the test results show that the addition of absorbent materials into the mortar is also effective to the two properties depending on their absorption capacity. Thus, it is more effective to use SAP than the seaweed paste because of higher absorption capacity. However, both the initial sealed curing and keeping total water contents of the mortar are required to show this effectiveness. Lastly, the compressive strength is inversely proportional to the drying shrinkage. By using this relation, the reason of the increase of compressive strength due to the initial sealed curing or the addition of absorbent materials is quantitatively explained.

Analysis of the Correlation between Compaction Characteristics and Spectral Information of Reactive Materials for Absorption of Oil Contaminant (유류 오염물 흡수가 가능한 반응재료의 다짐 특성-분광정보 상관관계 분석)

  • Purpose: The response technology is needed to prevent the spill of highly toxic oil contaminants in advance. Therefore, this paper described the results of an experimental study to predict the engineering properties of the developed reactive material. Method: Compaction tests and spectral information acquisition experiments were conducted on the reactive materials, and the results were evaluated. In addition, the correlation between spectral information and maximum dry unit weight was analyzed to evaluate the possibility of predicting the engineering properties for reactive materials. Result: The compaction test results showed that the maximum dry unit weight was in the range of approximately 9kN/m3 to 10kN/m3. The spectral information confirmed that the maximum reflectance decreased as the polynorbornene decreased. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the maximum dry unit weight of the reactive material for absorbing oil contaminants can be predicted using the maximum reflectance according to the component ratio of the reactive material.

Spray-dried powder preparation of pumpkin sweet potato hydrolysates and its physicochemical properties (호박고구마 효소 분해물의 분무건조 분말 제조 및 물리화학적 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted prepare spray-dried powder using pumpkin sweet potato hydrolysates and examine the physicochemical properties of the powder. The insoluble dietary fiber and soluble dietary fiber of the pumpkin sweet potato treated by enzyme were 4.17% and 2.07%, respectively. The spray-dried pumpkin sweet potato hydrolysates was manufactured via spray-drying with different forming agents: i.e., pectin 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, and 2.0%. The moisture contents and total starches of the spray-dried powders were approximately 1.68-2.46 and 45.32-46.51%, respectively. The color of the L and a value decreased, and that of the b and ${\Delta}E$ value increased. The particle size and outer topology of the spray-dried powders were $37.17-42.32{\mu}m$, and its shape was generally globular. The water absorption index of the spray-dried powder (1.74-1.91) was lower than that of the freeze-dried powder (2.15). The water solubility index of the spray-dried powder, 80.75-87.61%, was higher than that of the freeze-dried powder (70.47%). The adhesion values of spray-dried powder to epithelial HT-29 cells were 2.66-6.18% of the initial cell counts, whereas freeze-dried powder showed lower adhesive ability (1.79%). The in vitro human digestibility in the spray-dried powder was 70.09% which is very effective in digestion.

A Study on the Mechanical Properties and Moisture Control Performance of Diatomite filled Olefin Foams (규조토를 함유한 올레핀계 폼의 기계적 물성 및 수분 제어 성능에 관한 연구)

  • Products using diatomaceous earth, which are used in various fields, are optimized for moisture absorption, but have problems such as high hardness, powder flying, and rough surface feel. To improve this, an olefin-based foam having low hardness and high elasticity was prepared by adding an excessive amount of inorganic material using EVA (Ethylene vinyl acetate) having low hardness and excellent elasticity. Diatomaceous earth was added to impart moisture absorption characteristics of the foam, and the moisture absorption/drying characteristics showed a moisture absorption rate of about 10 to 15% and a moisture drying rate of 10 to 70% depending on the content of the diatomaceous earth. Through this study, it was possible to manufacture a water-absorbing olefin-based foam with diatomaceous earth added, and it was confirmed that the diatomaceous earth added to the foam had a great influence on water absorption and dissipation due to its microstructure and characteristics.

  • The effect of the dehydration method and EDTA or BHA treatment upon the pigment degradation and water re-absorption of the dehydrated meat of the surf clam Mactra Sulcataria REEVE was studied. Sun drying Produced a realer decrease in pigment content as compared to that produced by hot-air dehydration. The hot-air dehydrated product which was treated with BHA showed little pigment loss in comparison with the pigment of the fresh surf clam meat. The BHA treatment upon the dehydrated surf clam products had an outstanding effect on the pigment retention and the EDTA treated one had a weak effect on it. The hot-air dehydrated products more rapidly re-absorbed water than the sun dried one. It could be seen that there was tittle difference among the rate of rehydration of the BHA or EDTA treated product and untreated one.
