Comparison of the Total Nitrogen Determination Methods by UV spectrophotometric method and Standard method (수질공정시험법과 Standard Method의 총질소 분석방법비교)

  • 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 수중의 총질소를 간편하면서도 신속하고 정확하게 분석할 수 있는 방법으로 각각의 질소성분을 standard method에 의해 분석한 후 이들을 합산하는 방법보다 회수율이 좋게 나타났다. 자외선 흡광광도법을 이용할 경우 Cr(VI)이온과 Br이온에 의해 방해를 받으므로, Br이온을 다량 함유하는 해수의 총질소 분석방법으로는 적합하지 않은 것으로 관찰되었다. 전처리를 한 후 220 nm에서 흡광도를 측정하기 위해서는 탄산염의 방해를 방지하기 위해 pH를 2~3으로 조절한 후 분석해야만 하고, 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 총질소를 분석하는 방법으로 우수성이 입증되었으나 각 형태별 질소의 농도를 측정할 수 없는 단점이 있으므로 각 형태별 질소의 농도를 측정하기 위해서는 standard method를 이용해야 된다. 본 연구에서 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 총질소를 분석하는데 있어서 standard method에 의한 합산법보다 시간과 노력을 절약할 수 있는 것으로 검토되었다.

Analysis of Absorbance for Tinted Dye Absorbed into Tinted Lenses by Spectrophotometric Method (분광광도법에 의한 칼라 렌즈 내 염색제에 대한 흡광도 분석)

  • We studied absorbance of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses by Spectrophotometric method. Used lenses and tinted dye were CR-39 plastic optical lenses and Ons & $Lavas^{(R)}$ Blue, respectively. Absorbance values of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses were obtained from the differences of absorbance values between tinted lenses and CR-30 lenses. Average concentrations of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses were obtained from the mass differences between tinted lenses and CR-30 lenses. The relationship between absorbance and average concentration for tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses was also confirmed to follow Beer’s law. The absorption coefficient calculated from the tangent of the calibration curve was determined to be a=0.983 $Lg^{-1}cm^{-1}$.

  • Criteria for insulating oil condition of pole transformer were suggested by applying the UV-Visible spectrophotometric method. Aging of insulating oil caused the change in absorbances of oil as well as the deterioration of electrical properties of oil. By comparing the electrical properties such as tan$\delta$ and dielectric breakdown voltage with the UV-Visible absorbances of oil, following criteria for absorbance values determining oil condition were established, fair condition is below 0.580, need attention is 0.580-0.900 and poor condition is above 0.900. This W-Visible spectrophotometric method may be applied in aging analysis of oil and expected to replace the current visual method. It is necessary to develop cheap, light and portable UV-Visible spectrophotometer in near future for field application.

  • The spectrophotometric methods for the determination of Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Ho, Er were developed, using the multicomponent method of absorption spectra cointerference. The absorption spectra of individual Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Ho, Er, mixture of Sm, Eu, Ho, Er in hydrochloric acid solutions were investigated, and also a band register which includes the molar absorptions for all trivalent Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Ho and Er absorption band maxima were measured. The spectrophotometric determination of Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Ho and Er were investigated using the analytically significant absorption bands at 444.2, 575.1, 401.7, 394.2, 416.6, and 379.7 nm, respectively.

Evaluation of a Diffusive Sampler for the Measurement of Formaldehyde using Colorimetric Method (흡광광도법을 이용한 포름알데히드 확산측정기의 평가)

  • The badge-type diffusive sampler for the measurement of formaldehyde in indoor air using three types of colorimetric methods such as chromotrophic acid(CTA), 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone(MBTH), and 4-amino-3-hydrazino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole(AHMT) method. The washing of the collection filter with several cleaning solution was effected with satisfactory results, regardless of the types of cleaning solutions. The concentrations of absorbance solution in each colorimetric method were experimentally determined by considering the sampling rates. The variation blank values in each colorimetric method was below 15%. As compared with CTA and AHMT methods, the reproducibility of MBTH method was excellent and was below 10% relative standard deviation. The collected formaldehyde mass and time-weighted concentration had a good correlation (correlation coefficient > 0.93). The limit of detection and limit of quantitation, and minimum sampling time were closely correlated to the sampling rates for the measurement of formaldehyde in each method.

  • Pipethanate*HCl reacts with ammonium cobaltothiocyanate to form a stable ion pair which has an absorption maximum at 626nm. The reaction product was insoluble in water but freely soluble in most organic solvents. 1, 2-Dichloroethane was the best extracting solvent among the several organic solvents. Pipethanate*HCl can be determined not only by the spectrophotometry but also inderectly by estimation of cobalt in the organic phase by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Linear relationship was found between absorbance and concentration in the range of $1.0{\times}10^{-3}~4.0{\times}10^{-3}M$ by spectrophotometry and $1.5{\times}10^{-4}~4.0{\times}10^{-4}M$ by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. With this method it was possible to determine pipethanate$\cdot$HCl in the pharmaceutical preparations.
