The effect of finger joint location and distance from joint to joint one another on 3 point mid-concentration bending strength properties was investigated in this experiment. Resorcinol-phenol formaldehyde (RPF) and aqueous vinyl urethane (AVU) was used to domestic Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc and imported Picea sitchensis Carr. that have been cut to different width of 0.15 mm between finger tip and root width and the distance from loading point to finger joint was 0, 30, 40, 50, 60 mm. The effect was not found on the location and distance of finger joint for bending modulus of elasticity, while the efficiency of bending strength property increased proportionally as the location of finger joint from the load point and the distance between finger joint increased. No influence was shown by finger joint location and distance beyond 3 times of specimen thickness, since similar values were shown between the solid wood and no destruction occurred materials.

This study was carried out to scrutinize possibility of manufacturing pitch pine (Pinus rigida) glued laminated timber in order to add values of pitch pine trees. Also, it was investigated to improve bending performance of pitch pine glulam. Pitch pine was imported as one of major plantation species in Korean peninsula. Machine stress rated grades of pitch pine lumber mostly ranged between E7 and E9. which grades were more or less inferior to producing high quality glulam. However, the adhesive properties between pitch pine and pitch pine, and between pitch pine and Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi Carr.), such as shear bond strength, wood failure rate and de-lamination rate of bonded layer submerged in cold and boiling water, were higher than Korean Standard criteria. These properties are essential for manufacturing glulam with single species or multiple species. The modulus of rupture (MOR) of pitch pine glulam exceeded the criterion of Korean Standard for glulam strength grade but modulus of elasticity (MOE) was lower than the criterion. On the other hand, the bending performances (MOR and MOE) were improved 20 percent by mixing with Japanese larch laminar. It is effective to arrange higher quality Japanese larch laminar at the outer layer of glulam for improving bending performances. In conclusion, it is possible to use low quality pitch pine as laminar of structural glulam for adding values of pitch pine.
Despite Korea forest take 63.7% of the nation's territory, productivity of domestic structural lumber is low. Studies of domestic small lumbers need to be improved domestic structural timber productivity. In this study, small diameter lumber and finger joint small diameter lumber took bending test to calculate MOE and MOR. MOE of small diameter lumber was $9.3kN/mm^2$ and MOE of finger joint small diameter lumber was $15.4kN/mm^2$. Allowable standard bending stress of small diameter lumber and finger joint small diameter lumber was calculated according to ASTM D 2915. Standard allowable bending stress of small diameter lumber was $12N/mm^2$ and standard allowable bending stress of finger joint small diameter lumber was $11N/mm^2$. Standard allowable bending stress of finger joint small diameter lumber should be considered to design structural beam members.
Two species which belong to a needle-leaf tree, three species which belong to a broad-leaved tree and three resins were selected and made into samples. They were glued in the amount of spread-$200g/m^2$, clamping pressure-$10kg/cm^2$ and room temperature during 48 hrs. This experiment was carried out to investigate results on gluing faculty tests with examining block shear strength, wood failure, tensile strength and bending strength. The result obtained may be summarized as follows. 1. Strength values of each resin made not difference, but those of each species had difference. 2. The result which Picea Koraiensis Nakai had good wood failure reveals better resin strength than wood strength. 3. Pinus Koreaiensis sieb. et Zucc. had poor tensile strength regardless of resins. 4. A broad-leaf tree, Robinia pseudoacacia Linne had good bending strength.

The effects of polymer-binder ratio and metakaolin content on the properties of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes using metakaolin are examined. As a result, regardless of the metakaolin content, the flexural, compressive and adhesion in tension strength of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes tend to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio. Regardless of the polymer-binder ratio, the strengths of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes increase with increasing metakaolin content, and reaches a maximum at metakaolin content of 5%. The water absorption, carbonation depth and resistance of chloride ion penetration of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio. The resistance of freezing and thawing improvement is attributed to the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the incorporation of polymer dispersion.

Bonded CFRP Plate method used murk in reinforcement method is very efficient for stress increment of reinforced members. But CFRP plate dosen't display enough its capacity and have the destruction characteristic of premature failure that reach failure by debond plate, because near-surface-bond using epoxy. Such destruction character of reinforced specimens take the influence at variables as steel reinforcement ratio, concrete strength, kind of reinforcement materials, reinforced length, property of epoxy used in binder and so on. In this study, performed experiment results are compared and considered on flexural performance of Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement used CFRP-Rod, as complement about structural behavior of RC beam reinforced flexural capacity in CFRP plate and premature failure of reinforcement material. Main variables of RC beam applied CFRP Plate external bond method are experimental variables as reinforcement length, reinforcement position (tension face and side face of beam) and existence of ironware in end parts. In case of CFRP-Rod, variable is reinforcement length.

External bonding of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets has been widely accepted as a popular method for strengthening of deteriorated RC structures. The long-term behavior of CFRP-strengthened RC structure is often affected by that of the interface between CFRP sheets and concrete. This study aims at applying a viscoelastic model to describe the creep behaviour of the adhesive layer bonding CFRP sheet to concrete, the CFRP-concrete interface. Reviews of available models on concrete creep behavior have been first carried out and then new FE analysis model is proposed. The proposed FE analysis model based on the maxwell model has been verified by previous experimental results. It is shown that the creep effect of interfacial adhesive layer is very important on the long-term behavior of concrete structures strengthened with CFRP.
The permeable polymer-modified concrete has a lot of internal voids, which has more excellent performance in permeability and durability than asphalt and cement concrete. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to ascertain the strength properties of water-permeable polymer concretes with SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder. The water-permeable polymer concretes using SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder with water-binder ratio of 29 %, polymer-cement ratios of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 % are prepared, and tested for compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, water permeablility. From the test results, improvements in the strength properties of the water-permeable polymer concretes due to the addition of the SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder are discussed.

This study was used particleboard with urea-formaldehyde resin and cross linking vinyl resin. Manufactured particleboard had high cross linking vinyl resin content that internal bonding strength was low value but flexural strength was increased. For emission test of particleboard using VOC Analyzer, it was confirmed that more cross linking vinyl resin had reduced 4 volatile organic compounds (Toluene, Ethylbenzen, Xylene, Styrene) but also TVOC (Total VOC), 5 VOCs (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzen, Xylene, Styrene) and formaldehyde emissions from manufactured particleboard were also lower emission factor than particleboard with only urea formaldehyde resin.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the physical properties and self-healing effects of hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars(EMMs) using ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS). The EMMs with GGBFS were prepared with various polymer-binder ratios and GGBFS contents, and tested for strengths, adhesion in tension, water permeation and self-healing effects. The conclusions obtained from the test results are summarized as follows. The compressive strength of the EMMs with GGBFS is reduced with increasing polymer-binder ratios because of reduction of the degree of hardening in the EMMs, and is somewhat inferior to that of unmodified mortars. In the flexural and tensile strengths, the flexural strength of the EMMs is almost constant with increasing polymer-binder ratios. However, the tensile strength of the EMMs is gradually increased with increasing polymer-binder ratios. Regardless of the GGBFS contents, the adhesion in tension of the EMMs increases sharply with increasing polymer-binder ratios. The water permeation of the EMMs is remarkably reduced with increasing polymer-binder ratios and GGBFS contents. The self-healing effect of the hardener-free EMMs with GGBFS is improved with increasing water immersion period at a GGBFS content of 20%.
