The Environmental and Ecological Meaning of Bibo Landscape in Otgol Village (옻골마을 비보경관의 환경생태적 의미)

  • An empirical study and environmental and ecological analysis were conducted on Otgol Village(a village of the Gyeongju Choi's clan in Daegu) where an enclosed pond and groves are still observed. In particular, the enclosed pond and groves and village water system were investigated from an ecological perspective. The enclosed landscape is described based on feng shui principles and the environmental and ecological significance were examined. In general, the environmental and ecological significance is very broad; however, they were analyzed in terms of the quality of life as an empirical study as follows: First, water quality was measured to investigate the improvement of continuous water system functions. In other words, water quality was measured at East Valley(resting space), West Valley(living space), the enclosed pond where the two valleys merge, and the stream that flows out of the pond. Second, the climate functions of the enclosed groves that border the village were examined. In other words, temperature was measured in two places(200m distance from the center of the groves). Third, whether or not a sound ecosystem can be sustained was investigated. In other words, landscape ecological indicators were chosen and measured. The results are as follows: First, the enclosed pond played the role of purifying water quality. While the East Valley has been popular with men for its rock walls and torrents, the West Valley has been popular with women as a living space(ex: doing the laundry). Therefore, the difference of water quality can be explained. Second, since enclosed groves are in a small village forest, they are very weak in terms of being wind proof and temperature reduction effects. Instead, they play the role of the village boundary. Third, the groves are ecologically sound considering the landscape ecological indicators and are similar to ordinary traditional rural villages. In terms of the connection of the green zone, the village groves are well connected to the village boundary wood. If the village groves are restored, in particular, they would offer a decent habitat for grove creatures. According to this study, the traditional village space was formed upon the influence of Feng Shui theories that are based on environmental and ecological principles that focus on the harmony between humans and nature. From the environmental and ecological perspective, the enclosed pond and groves are important factors in building a sustainable village. The diverse water space would help to improve water quality and increase water volume by promoting the water circulation system. In addition, the village woods would surround the village and decrease the temperature and humidity difference between winter and summer. If the groves are small and badly damaged, however, they are meaningful only in dividing the region. The overall improvement of a forestation system and botanical composition may increase the biological diversity and promote the migration of species. Otgol Village has developed an enclosed landscape to improve the village environment. In other words, a sound and refreshing living environment can be developed when the natural ecological system is well understood and properly preserved. Additionally, this traditional village planning will be the environmental and ecological method. From the perspective of environmental ecology, therefore, a traditional village is recommended.

Evaluation of pore water pressure on the lining during tunnel operation (운영 중 터널에 작용하는 간극수압 평가기법)

  • Control of ground water is one of the most important factors for long-term operation of tunnel because most of tunnel is located in the ground. In case of leakage tunnel, there is no pore water pressure on the lining when the drainage system is properly working. After long-term operation, however, the pore water pressure can be developed on the lining due to the deterioration of the drainage system. The increased pore water pressure on the lining is termed here as 'residual pore water pressure'. Residual pore water pressure can be measured by piezometer, but it is generally not allowed because of damages of drainage system. Therefore, an indirect and nondestructive method is required for evaluating the residual pore water pressure. Moreover, understanding of pore water pressure is needed during healthy operation of the lining. In this study, a new method for evaluation of pore water pressure on the lining during operation is proposed using theoretical and numerical analysis. It is shown that the method is particularly useful for stability investigation of pore water pressure on the lining during operation using theoretical analysis with normalized pore water pressure curve.

A Study of optimal algorithm for high-speed process of image signal (영상신호의 고속처리를 위한 최적화 알고리즘에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, the method of processing a blurred noisy image has been researched. The conventional method of processing signal has faluts which are slow convergence speed and long time-consuming process at the singular point and or in the ill condition. There is the process, the Gauss Seidel's method to remove these faults, but it takes too much time because it processed singnal repeatedly. For overcoming the faults, this paper shows a image restoration method which takes shorter than the Gauss-Seidel's by comparing the Gauss Seidel's with proposed alogorithm and accelerating convergence speed at the singular point and/or in the ill condition. In this paper, the conventional process method(Gauss-Seidel) and proposed optimal algorithm were used to get a standard image($256{\times}56{\times}bits$). and then the results are simulated and compared each other in order to examine the variance of MSE(Mean Square Error) by the acceleration parameter in the proposed image restoration. The result of the signal process and the process time was measured at all change of acceleration parameter in order to verify the effectveness of the proposed algorithm.

A Study on the Vegetation Ecological Characteristics and Management of Ansan Reclaimed Wetlands (안산 간척 습지의 식생 생태적 특성 및 관리에 관한 연구)

  • Floral study and present vegetation survey were conducted at a representative reclaimed wetland located behind the Rural Research Institute at Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. The importance values were calculated from the ground cover and frequency of recorded species within quadrats and detrended canonical correspondence analysis was conducted using environment variables, such as total nitrogen, electric conductivity, available phosphate, nitrate nitrogen and the distance from the inner roads. And basal areas for the trees encroaching on the reclaimed wetland were estimated to take a look at the on-going situation about the succession routes on land. As a result, 46 families and 158 species of plants were recorded and Pragmites communis was found to be a dominant species as the present vegetation. The ordination analysis results showed that species distribution was purposely explained by total nitrogen in soil and its content in nitrate nitrogen. The invasion of Robinia pseudoacacia and Pinus rigida whose basal areas were $22.3m^2$ and $1.6m^2$ respectively, into the interior areas of the reclaimed wetland was found to cause a disturbance making some parts of the wetland into land. The zoning program using water level control and migratory roads is becoming a contributing factor in destroying a wetland, so it's suggested that some adjustments should be needed to take care of it.

  • 생체 시료인 세포나 조직을 분석을 위해 임의로 파괴하거나 훼손하지 않은 본래의 상태에서 세포에 존재하는 다양한 생체분자 물질의 질량과 조성을 분석하고 영상화할 수 있는 대기압 표면 질량분석 이미징 기술을 개발했다. 생체 시료의 표면을 질량 분석을 하기 위해서는 대기압 분위기에서 시료에 열적 손상이 없는 조건으로 시편의 이온화 및 탈착 과정이 이루어지게 하기 위해 저온 대기압 탈착/이온화원으로 저온대기압 플라즈마 젯과 펨토초 적외선 레이저를 결합하여 대기압 이온화원을 제작하였다. 기존에 잘 알려진 저온 대기압 플라즈마 젯 소자는 유리관에 방전기체를 흘려주고 전극에 고전압을 인가하는 방식으로 제작했으며, 또 다른 대기압 이온화원으로서 근적외선 대역의 고출력 펨토초 레이저 빔을 현미경용 대물렌즈로 집속하여 생체시료에 조사시켰다. 수백 나노미터에서 수 마이크로미터 수준으로 빔을 집속할 수 있는 펨토초 레이저는 금나노로드의 도움으로 생체 시료를 매우 작은 수준으로 탈착하는 데 주로 사용하며, 수십 마이크로미터에서 수 밀리미터 정도의 크기를 가지는 저온 대기압 플라즈마 젯은 탈착된 물질을 이온화시키는데 사용하여, 이 두 가지 이온화원을 결합하여 이온화원으로 사용한다. 시료에서 발생한 이온을 질량분석기 입구까지 잘 끌고 갈 수 있도록 이온 전달관을 설계하고 보조펌프를 장착 사용한다. 이렇게 자체 개발한 대기압 이온화원을 상용 질량분석기기와 결합하여 대기압 분위기에서 시료의 표면을 질량분석할 수 있는 시스템과 측정 기술을 개발했다. 현미경 스테이지에 정밀 2-D 자동 스캐닝 스테이지를 장착하여 질량분석 정보에 공간 정보를 더할 수 있는 질량분석 이미징 기술 방법을 개발하여 생체 시편의 질량분석 이미징을 얻었다. 수분을 포함하는 생채시료로부터 단백질, 지질, 대사물질을 직접 분리하여 분석하는 이 새로운 질량분석법은 기존의 분석법에 비해 훨씬 더 많은 생체분자 정보를 얻을 수 있으며 공간정보를 더해 영상화할 수 있는 큰 장점이 있다. 대기압 표면 질량분석 기술은 생체시료를 파괴해서 용액화할 필요도 없으며, 진공 챔버에 넣기 위해 필요한 복잡한 전처리 과정 단계를 간략화 할 수 있으며 최종적으로는 살아있는 세포나 생체 조직도 정량 분석이 가능하여 생명과학 및 의료진단 분야에서 응용할 수 있는 분야는 무궁무진할 것이다.

Techniques for Evaluation of Ecological and Aesthetic Aspects of Landscapes through GIS Overlay Method (생태경관다양성과 시각경관민감도를 적용한 GIS중첩평가 계획기법)

  • In this study a landscape evaluation was carried out for the submission of a natural landscape conservation plan with the intention to prevent damage to natural landscapes through incautious exploitation. In the case of Korean landscape evaluation, in fact, only the aesthetic value of the landscape is evaluated as related to development projects but the ecological relevance of the landscape cannot be estimated by evaluating only the aesthetic. For that reason, this study performed a landscape evaluation, including the sensitivity limit of visible scenery and the diversity of ecological scenery. For the intention of landscape evaluation in the designation of an essential conservation area and for devising a plan related to this area, a GIS applied to Ian McHarg's map overlay method was used and both the ecological landscape diversity and the aesthetic value of the landscape was surveyed using this map overlay method. A region can be analyzed in relation to the needs for concentration of management in influence analysis of landscape effect elements.

Light Pollution of Outdoor Lighting in Coastal Area - Focused on Busan City - (해안가 야간경관조명의 빛공해 평가 - 부산시를 중심으로 -)

  • Outdoor lighting has become a necessary essential part of society for safety and comfortable space. However, inappropriate outdoor lighting leads to energy waste and poor landscape. Outdoor lighting is a very important social element, which enables us to conduct various activities at night in a safe, efficient and comfort way. River Thames in UK, Venice in Italy and Sydney in Australia is a good example of the coastal area. This paper aims to evaluate the light pollution of outdoor lighting in coastal area in Busan city. The Radiant Imaging ProMetric-1400 was used to measure the luminance of Gwangalli Beach, Marine City and Haeundae Beach. Compare to the CIE recommendation level the luminance of the all outdoor lighting were about 2~20 times higher. Outdoor lighting of the building facade luminance level and color should be particularly limited.

Effects of Habitat Environment and Land Use on the Abundance of Japanese Tree Frog (Hyla japonica) in Incheon, Korea (인천에서 서식지 환경과 토지 이용이 청개구리 (Hyla japonica) 수도에 미치는 영향)

  • The damage and fragmentation of habitat due to urbanization pose a great threat to amphibians worldwide. To understand the effect of urbanization on the distribution and abundance of Hyla japonica, we measured their population sizes by listening frog calling and investigated the habitat their population sizes and land use in the 18 rice paddy fields located in Incheon and its surroundings. Abundance of H. japonica was 0 - 17 male adults / habitat or 0 - 41 male adults / ha in Incheon. The number of the frog was increased as the distance between the habitat and the road became longer or the ratio of circumstance / area of the habitat increased. Unlike the general prediction, the density of H. japonica showed a negative correlation with the size of the habitat and a positive correlation with the surrounding land use intensity. Our results suggested that H. japonica could be concentrated in a narrow habitat due to the habitat size decrease and the periphery development according to the urbanizaion.

Study on Reducing Processing Time for Restoration Method (영상신호 복원의 처리 시간단축을 위한 알고리즘에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, the method of processing a blurred noisy signal has been researched. The conventional method of processing signal has faults which are slow-convergence speed and long time-consuming process at the singular point and in the ill condition. There is the process, the Gauss-Seidel's method to remove these faults, but it takes too much time because it processes signal repeatedly. For overcoming the faults, this paper shows a signal process method which takes shorter than the Tikhnov-Miller's by comparing the Tikhnov-Miller's with proposed algorithm and accelerating convergence speed at the singular point in the ill condition. In this paper, the conventional process method and proposed optimal algorithm were used to get a standard image (256 * 256 * 8bits),and then the results are simulated and compared each other in order to examine the variance of MSE ( Mean-Square Error ) by the acceleration parameter in the proposed two dimensional signal procedures. The result of the signal process and the processing time was measured at all change of acceleration parameter in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Characterization and Analysis of Painted Pigments for the Clay Statues in Donggwanwangmyo Shrine, Seoul (서울 동관왕묘 소조상 채색안료의 정밀분석 및 동정)

  • The Donggwanwangmyo Shrine was built in the period of Joseon Dynasty in 1602. There are Clay Statues (Gwanwo, Jangbi, Woojanggun, Juchang, Jojaryoung and so on) enshrined in the inside of the main hall. Original color of these Clay Statues are deteriorated by inorganic pollutant like dust. And the origanal forms were damaged during several process of restorations and repaintings. This study carried out XRD, SEM-EDS, P-XRF and chromaticity measurement for characterization of pigments which painted on Clay Statues. As a result, cinnabar, hematite and red lead were used to paint in pigments for the red and brown colors. Light red pigment was made by gypsum with these minerals that make colors. Graphite and gold were used to color of black and gold pigment, respectively. Green pigment is identified of malachite, atacamite and glauconite. Blue pigment which is clearly painted on Clay Statues is interpreted a morden industrial pigment that were painted at repair work. White pigments are detected calcite, gypsum and silver white. Orpiment and litharge were used to color of yellow and light yellow pigment.
