1987년 정보교환용 부호가 완성음절형 부호계로 개정되면서 한글 음절 표현은 극히 제한되어 컴퓨터상에서 한글의 표현은 제약을 받게 되었다. 1446년 훈민정음이 공포된 후로 목판, 활자시대를 지나서 타자기를 만나면서 한자와 다른 길을 걸어왔다. 특히 컴퓨터시대가 되면서 한글은 타자 이상의 적합성을 가지고 있지만 훈민정음 창제원리에 대한 이해부족으로 음절문자로 분류하여 완성음절형 부호를 지원하게 됨에 따라서 많은 문제를 야기하고 있다. 국제표준인 유니코드에는 세가지 종류의 부호가 반영되어 있는데 음절문자 중심의 부호화이므로 훈민정음의 특성을 해치는 일이며 또한 한글의 과학성을 부정하는 일이기도 하다. 본 논문은 훈민정음 창제원리에 입각하지 않음으로 생긴 문제에 대한 근본적인 해결책으로 훈민정음을 표현하는 최적 폰트 설계 방안을 검토하고 현행의 한글부코드표준의 개선 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

훈민정음 창제당시의 모든 한글 음절을 모두 표현함에 있어서 현재의 컴퓨터 환경은 표현방법과 폰트의 부족으로 입력 및 출력을 완전하게 할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 훈민정음해례에서 정의한 약 399억 음절을 컴퓨터 위에서 표현할 수 있는 폰트를 제작함에 있어서 글꼴 설계의 경제적이고 효율적인 방법을 개발하는 데 초점을 둔다. 그렇게 하려면 완성형이 아닌 조합형 글꼴 설계가 요구되며, 자소들을 복자모를 뺀 오직 낱자소만으로 제작함으로써, 음절구성 형태에 따른 낱자소 8개 형식과 세 가지 타입으로 설계한다. 즉, 컴퓨터상에서는 모든 한글이 낱자소만 이용하여 풀어쓰기 형태로 입력되며, 화면에 출력할 때는 풀어쓰기 형태의 자소들을 모아쓰기로 표현하여 낱자소를 초성, 중성, 종성만으로 둘 또는 세 글자 복자모로 확장하여 표현한다. 그러므로 최소한의 폰트모양을 이용하여 훈민정음 창제 당시의 모든 한글 399억 음절을 컴퓨터에 표현할 수 있도록 한다.

세계화가 진행되는 요즘, 외국어의 한글 표기 수요가 점차 증가하고 있다. 하지만 현대 한글은 11,172자 밖에 표현할 수 없는 반면 훈민정음은 약 399억 음절을 표현할 수 있다. 하지만 기존 컴퓨터 시스템에서의 훈민정음은 훈민정음 창제원리가 반영되어 있지 않아 약 399억 음절을 온전히 표현할 수 없다. 본 연구의 목적으로 약 399억 음절 입력이 가능한 윈도우용 정음 입력기를 구현하기 위해 기존 연구에 이어 정음 조합 자동 장치를 연구하고 구현하여 이식함에 있다.

So far, it has been a general opinion that 'Hunminjeongeum' creation was made only by King Sejong himself under Jiphyeonjeon scholars' help. However, this paper stresses that 'Hunminjeongeum' was made not only by King Sejong but also by Sinmi's positive effort on King Sejong's secret order, and examines the possibility of the culture-convergence contents related to these tales as well. To reveal the ground, the method of this research was proceeded particularly focusing on following texts: Sejongsillok, Munjongsillok, Hangukbulgyojeonseo, etc. The result was as followings. 1) King Sejong's absolute trust in Sinmi, 2) Sinmi's outstanding linguistic talent in Sanskrit. 3) King Sejong's donation of Amitaba-Triad Buddha images to Bokcheonsa Temple and Sejong's granting a respecting title of 'Wugukise Hyeogakjonja' to Sinmi. 4) Sinmi's vow to educate and spread 'Hunminjeongeum' based on Buddhism, and 5) Sejo's visit Sinmi at Bokcheonsa Temple. Furthermore, if the tales related to 'Hunminjeongeum' creation are activated into a type of national or regional events or festivals without remaining simply in a story level, it would be a good way to spread the excellence of convergence K-culture with various culture contents.

This paper proposes the Hunminjungum Keypad that applied the creation principle of Hunminjungum to the design of keypad. The proposed keypad arranged 28 letters of Hunminjungum to have correlations with each other between consonants, between vowels, and between consonants and vowels. That is, Consonant buttons are arranged by grouping letters of the same sound by sounds of five voices. And the vowel buttons are arranged at the bottom and the right side of the consonant area according to the position where a vowel is attached to the consonant. In the meantime, Hangul keypads have mainly used 12 button keypads in 4 lines and 3 columns. These keypads have structurally disadvantageous in the touch count and moving distance. Recently, keypads with many letter buttons such as QWERTY and single-vowel are also used a lot. If the number of letter buttons provided in the keypad increases, touch count decreases. And If the letter buttons are arranged to have a correlation with each other, the moving distance becomes smaller. The experimental results show that the proposed keypad has high efficiency in all evaluation factors such as touch count, moving distance and input time.

The process of creating Hunminjeongeum described in Haerye version of Hunminjeongeum shows a rule of signification by which a signifiant represents a referent. In this article, I will suggest two types, the mythical and the anti-mythical, that affect the iconic relation between signifiant and referent, and consider how they are realized in Hunminjeongeum. The mythical type is shown as Yin-Yang and the Five Elements Theory and Three Elements Theory of Heaven, Earth and Man dominating the thought of intellectuals at that time. It had became mythos, that is the object of absolute belief, by connecting with the power of King at that time. It is very metaphysical and involves a kind of grand narrative. It is also the voice from the past in time and from China in space. It is reflected in Hunminjeongeum's letter system intactly. Meanwhile, the anti-mythical type also affects the creation of Icon in Hunminjeongeum. Even if Hunminjeongeum had been created from King Sejong's project, its intention seemed to be educational and practical. That is the problem of that time, not of past time, and for common class, not for ruling class. It can be considered as logos in that it had been planned and processed at a real-life situation at that time. Some arguments between King Sejong and liege Choi, Manri about the validity of Hunminjeongeum also show that the creation of Hunminjeongeum had involved the problem of critical logos. Above all, in that referents of Icons of Hunminjeongeum are the figures of human vocal organs, we can suggest that these Icons also implied an Indexicality implying actual connection between voice and body. It can be considered as a deconstrucion of metaphysics and grand narrative that had been dominated by foresaid mythical type. Hereafter, from time when Hunminjeongeum have been widely used, mythos of metaphysics and grand narrative that had dominated Hunminjeongeum have been deconstructed and Hunminjeongeum has become to realize its potential competence of pragmatic sign system for the convenience of common people. Therefore, I expect that the cultural potentiality of Hangul today can be realized by such tendency of logos incessantly deconstructing mythos, that is one direction of mythosemiosis.

훈민정음 창제당시의 모든 한글 음절인 약 399억 음절을 표현하기 위해서 자소형 코드만을 입력하여 이를 조합 음절 형태로 구성하고, 최적 폰트 코드를 출력함으로써 모든 한글을 표현할 수 있었다. 하지만, 이러한 최적 폰트 코드는 모든 한글을 표현하는 데에만 치중하였지만, 키보드로부터 입력되는 자소형 코드와 화면에 음절을 구성하며 출력되는 폰트 코드의 일치하지 않는 문제점이 발생하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 실험을 통하여 입력된 자소형 코드를 파일입출력을 이용하여 파일로 저장 후 이를 본 연구에서의 옛한글 입력기의 폰트 변환 모듈을 사용하여 음절을 표현하여, 자소형 코드와 폰트 코드와의 일치함을 보이고자 한다.

유니코드에 있는 3가지 한글코드를 훈민정음의 과학적 원리를 기준으로 정비하기 위하여 각각을 분석해서 평가한 다음 훈민정음 창제원리를 반영한 정음형 코드 즉 한글자모 코드가 나머지 음절표현을 포괄한다는 결과에 따라서 U+1100만 남기고 나머지 공간은 반납해야 한다는 정비 방향을 제안한다.

Oullim is Vital principle Which allows humanity to continue its inherent culture. By proposing the evaluative authority of the creative significance of the invention of Hangul and its formation and superiority from the stand point of Oullim, I would like to focus on Hangul's creative significance on the grounds of 'broadly profound design'. The ideas of Hunminchongum's invention id based on the philosophy of Great Absolute. The philosophy of Great Absolute is natural phenomenon and metaphysical understanding of cosmology. But King Sejong could keep a good balance between identity and practicality. It is a high value of Hangul. The main idea of design is seeking for principle of nature and systematical vitality. King Sejong also put this main idea of design in practice for inventing Hunminchongum. In the process, Oullim appeared as an essential function for the Great Design.
