  • An experimental study was made of turbulent separated and reattaching flow over a blunt body, where unsteady wake was generated by a spoke wheel-type wake generator with cylindrical rods. The influence of unsteady wake was scrutinized by altering the rotating direction (CW and CCW) and the normalized passing frequency $(0{\leq}St_H{\leq}0.20)$. The Reynolds number based on the cylindrical rod was $Re_d=375$. A phase-averaging technique was employed to characterize the unsteady wake. The effect of different rotating directions was examined in detail, which gave a significant reduction of $X_R$. The wall pressure fluctuations on the blunt body were analyzed in terms of the spectrum and the coherence.

  • In this study, blowoff was investigated in a ducted combustor with the bluff body when acoustic excitation was forced. To observe the flame structure, OH radical chemiluminescence was used and the image was analyzed by using POD (Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) algorithm. Natural gas mainly composed of methane was used as fuel. Blowoff occurred when the equivalence ratio was reduced. Equivalence ratio causing blowoff was measured by changing air flow rate, excitation frequency and sound pressure. Blowoff equivalence ratio was varied depending on the experimental conditions. Vortex frequency behind the bluff body and resonance effect in combustor are the main factors that affect the blowoff equivalence ratios with the excitation.

  • An experimental study of the aerodynamic characteristics of a stealth configuration, the test techniques developed for the testing in the Low Speed Wind Tunnel of Agency for Defense Development(ADD-LSWT), and the lessons learned have been presented. The main objectives of this test are to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of a stealth configuration and to measure the flow field characteristics with a 5-hole pressure probe. The test results are discussed and the effect of the leading edge shape on the aerodynamic characteristics is also given.
