An Empirical Study on the Effects of e-Mail Marketing : A focus on e-Mail Campaign for Credit Card Consumers (이메일 마케팅 성과에 관한 연구: 신용카드 고객을 대상으로 한 캠페인을 중심으로)

  • E-mail marketing is the cheapest channel in target marketing. The channel works amazingly well for marketers who know how to use it. The e-mail marketers are able to integrate transactional and behavioral data to improve the targeting content of e-mail marketing campaigns. The cost in e-mail marketing is low and e-mail marketing makes no pollution. But, the e-mail response rate is lower than all the other channels. So, it is very hard for companies to increase their sales volumes, though the companies are ready to execute e-mail marketing campaigns on the side of computer systems. Marketers can send messages easily to target customers compared to other channels. But, the possibility to be read by the customers is low. Normal e-mails are continually devalued by spam mails. This study shows the influence of e-mail marketing to increase sales used by credit cards, on the basis of the real data promoted by A bank, in the Republic of Korea. The analysis on the traits of the respondent can help marketers to target customers. If additional studies on the response prediction model on the basis of traits of potential respondents are done, the targeting method to increase the effectiveness of e-mail marketing will be better structured and organized.

  • It is expected that logistics standardization have an great effect on industry and national economy due to cost saving and improving efficiency. Therefore all countries of the world make a strenuous effort to take a lead of logistics standardization Despite such efforts of every country, our country remained a lukewarm attitude about logistics standardization. Especially, our country remained a lukewarm attitude about logistics standardization effect quantify. We have to suggest the necessity of standardization and the effect for carrying out logistics standard. So, this study performed literature review and case study for development of effect valuation method. Also, this study developed effect valuation standard for quantifiable standardization effect and drew the effect valuation standard model. First, the measure of preliminary effectiveness was chosen for MOE selection. As a results, vehicle load ratio, delivery cost, keeping space efficiency warehouse automation ratio, etc. were selected. Then, vehicle/truck load ratio, warehouse keeping efficiency, up unloading hour, packaging cost, consistency transportation ratio were chosen for MOE of pallet standardization.

Meta-Analysis of Research Papers on Horticultural Therapy Program Effect (원예치료 효과 검증을 위한 연구논문의 메타분석)

  • To analyze the effectiveness of horticultural therapy reported in research papers, a meta-analysis was carried out with 108 of 377 Korean and overseas research papers on horticultural therapy from 1985 to February 2009 (196 Korean dissertations, 113 Korean journal articles, 5 overseas dissertations, and 63 overseas journal articles). The results revealed a large effect size of 0.71. The effectiveness according to the type, age and number of participants were also analyzed. The therapy was most effective in children, and it was more beneficial for children with special needs and elderly people affected by dementia than for the typical population. The greatest effect was found with group sizes of five people or less, and when carried out by researchers from departments related to horticultural therapy than by researchers from unrelated fields of study. The most effective horticultural therapy programs involved floral decorations; and participants who took part in 21 to 30 sessions or at least 31 sessions benefited the most. Among the main effects of short-term horticultural therapy are cognitive, social, physical and emotional; the greatest effect was observed in the physical domain.

A Study for the stability of chopped garlic quality (다진 마늘의 품질안정을 위한 연구)

  • Preservative effects of natural preservatives, citric acid and salt on chopped garlic were investigated. Citric acid was very effective for the repression of bacteria multiplying and browning of chopped garlic in 0.5%~1% concentration. Salt had an effect on the repression of bacteria multiplying and browning color of chopped garlic except for 1% NaCl. Synergy effect between citric acid and NaCl was also very good for the decreasing of bacteria multiplying and the maintaining of Hunter color of chopped garlic. Compounded effect among the GF, CA and ascorbic acid was somewhat proper in the sensory evaluation of chopped garlic. And the sensory evaluation score was best in chopping size 3mm(diameter) of chopped garlic and viscosity 4500cp. of chopped garlic.

Binocular Visual Functions Effect of Vision Therapy Programs : A Meta-Analysis (Vision Therapy 프로그램의 양안시기능 개선 효과에 대한 메타분석)

  • Purpose: In order to aggregate effect of the improvement of binocular vision function by vision therapy, total mean effect size, mean effect size by dependent variables, and effect size by characteristics of the subjects and characteristics of treatment were analyzed by meta-analysis. Methods: We analyzed data from 14 Korean National primary studies, which reported effects of vision therapy programs, using meta-analysis. Results: The effect size of total mean was 1.207, which showed high effect. The mean effect size according to the subcategory of the binocular dysfunctions was the highest for vergence dysfunctions group (2.989), followed by accommodative dysfunctions group (0.868) and group with both vergence dysfunctions and accommodative dysfunctions (0.692). The effect size according to the characteristics of the subjects was the highest in the vision therapy conducted in the binocular dysfunctions group (2.509) that had no other dysfunctions. The mean effect size according to the number of programs was the highest (2.310) for 7 times a week. Vision therapy for improving the binocular functions was the most effective (2.019) in 8 weeks later from vision therapy start. Conclusions: It can prove that the therapy for the improvement of binocular vision function is effective through that each result of the vision therapy effect is converted to mean effect size, and being objectifying the mean effect size.

Antioxidative Effect of Methionine and Lysine on Oil Rancidity (유지의 산화에 대한 Methionine과 Lysine의 항산화 효과)

  • Soybean oil and lard containing different level (0.02, 0.1, 1%) of methionine, lysine and some antioxi-dants (TBHQ, a-tocopherol) were stored at 60$^{\circ}C$ and heated at 180$^{\circ}C$ to compare their antioxidative effects. Peroxide values (POV) and acid values (AV) of each oil were monitored. Methionine and Iysine showed antioxidative effects in all concentration and the higher concentration, the higher effect. In case of incubating antioxidative effect of methionine was similer to that of TBHQ and that of lysine was considerably higher than that of a-tocopherol, but was lower than that of methionine. In case of heating the antioxidative effects of methionine and lysine were showed higher than those of THHQ and u-tocopherol. Methionine and lysine also had higher antioxidative effects in animal fat than in vegetable oil. Synergistic effects among methionine, Lysine and some food antioxidants were shown to be available in all substrates and the best effect was shown in substrate added com-pound of methionine and a-tocopherol.

Characteristics of Static Shift in 3-D MT Inversion (3차원 MT 역산에서 정적효과의 특성 고찰)

  • Characteristics of the static shift are discussed by comparing the three-dimensional MT inversion with/without static shift parameterization. The galvanic distortion by small-scale shallow feature often leads severe distortion in inverted resistivity structures. The new inversion algorithm is applied to four numerical data sets contaminated by different amount of static shift. In real field data interpretations, we generally do not have any a-priori information about how much the data contains the static shift. In this study, we developed an algorithm for finding both Lagrangian multiplier for smoothness and the trade-off parameter for static shift, simultaneously in 3-D MT inversion. Applications of this inversion routine for the numerical data sets showed quite reasonable estimation of static shift parameters without any a-priori information. The inversion scheme is successfully applied to all the four data sets, even when the static shift does not obey the Gaussian distribution. Allowing the static shift parameters have non-zero degree of freedom to the inversion, we could get more accurate block resistivities as well as static shifts in the data. When inversion does not consider the static shift as inversion parameters (conventional MT inversion), the block resistivities on the surface are modified considerably to match possible static shift. The inhomogeneous blocks on the surface can generate the static shift at low frequencies. By those mechanisms, the conventional 3-D MT inversion can reconstruct the resistivity structures to some extent in the deeper parts even when moderate static shifts are in the data. As frequency increased, however, the galvanic distortion is not frequency independent any more, and thus the conventional inversion failed to fit the apparent resistivity and phase, especially when strong static shift is added. Even in such case, however, reasonable estimation of block resistivity as well as static shift parameters were obtained by 3-D MT inversion with static shift parameterization.

A Study of the Generational Cleavage in Welfare Attitudes: Differentiating Cohort Effect from Age Effect and Finding Its Factors (복지태도의 세대 간 균열 연구: 연령효과와 분리된 코호트 효과와 그 요인의 분석)

  • It is attempted here to explain change in welfare attitudes for two decades in 10 countries with the cohort effect, especially differences in societal values between generations. It was found that for the last 20 years pro-welfare attitudes of the public has been strengthened, on which the generation has impact, more by the cohort effect than by the age effect, and that the Millennials/Y-generation are the strongest supporters for the state welfare. Value-differences between cohorts, as a background factor for the cohort effect on welfare attitudes, are clear but show a kind of linear trend from the older to the younger cohorts. As for the cohort effect on welfare attitudes, it is expected, at least for the short-term future, in the direction toward supporting the expansion of the state welfare. Korean welfare attitudes show an exceptional pattern - preferring income inequality as incentives, and at the same time, the expansion of governmental welfare responsibility, which echoes recent arguments of contradictoriness and non-class-orientedness of Korean welfare attitudes. Especially, Korean Millennials/Y-G shows this contradictory welfare attitudes the most strongly, which is unique between 10 countries in this study, implying their fierce competition is being internalized. It is expected that the contradictoriness of Korean welfare attitudes may limit its possibility to back up welfare expansion in Korea.

A Study of Placebo Effect Education Impacts on Healing Food Intake Intention (플라세보 효과 교육에 따른 변화가 힐링음식의 이용의도에 미치는 영향연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify whether education on the placebo effect has significant impacts on the knowledge of the placebo effect, as well as the intention of healing food intake. For this purpose, 37 experimental group students and 29 control group students participated in the experiment. The results were as follows. First, education on the placebo effect did not appear to have significant impact on the functional value although it did have significant impact on emotional value and nutritional value. Second, knowledge of the placebo effect gained from the education had significant influence on intention of healing food intake. Third, only nutritional value showed a statistically positive (+) impact on intention of healing food intake.

  • 전통적으로 3차원 애니메이션에서 캐릭터의 동작에 관한 연구는 주로 동작의 사실적인 표현에 중점을 두고 있다. 그러나 이러한 사실적인 애니메이션은 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션에 익숙한 관객들이 어색함을 느끼는 원인이 되기도 한다 이로 인해 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션의 기법을 3차원 애니메이션에 적용하는 비사실적 (non photorealistic) 애니메이션 기법이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션기법 중 하나인 기대 효과(anticipation effect)를 3차원 애니메이션의 캐릭터 동작에 적용하는 자동화된 방법을 제시한다. 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션 기법에 따르면 기대 효과는 애니메이션을 더 설득력 있고 풍부하게 만드는 역할을 한다고 알려져 있다. 기대 효과는 주요한 동작이 일어나기 이전에 반대 방향의 동작이 이루어지는 것으로 나타난다. 3차원 애니메이션에서 캐릭터의 동작은 각 관절의 회전과 캐릭터 중심의 이동으로 표현되기 때문에, 주요한 동작에 대하여 각 관절의 회전과 캐릭터 중심의 이동에서 반대 방향의 움직임을 찾아 주요한 동작 이전에 연결하는 것으로 기대 효과의 동작을 표현할 수 있다. 모션 캡쳐나 키 프레임 방법을 통해 미리 제작된 애니메이션 파일로부터 기대효과를 생생하기 위해 동작 데이터를 분석하여, 기대 효과의 추가가 필요한 주요 동작의 각 관절별 회전을 외삽하여 반대 방향의 회전 움직임을 생생하고 무게 중심의 이동을 예측하여 주요 동작과 반대 방향의 움직임을 갖는 기대 동작을 생성한다. 이후, 생성된 기대 동작과 원래의 동작을 기대 효과의 타이밍을 고려하여 합성하는 것으로 기대효과가 포함된 자연스러운 애니메이션 동작을 얻을 수 있다.
