Vibration Characteristics of a New Optical Disk with Initial Stress (초기응력을 갖는 차세대 광디스크의 진동 특성)

  • Free vibration characteristics of an initially stressed CD/DVD disk, which is designed for increasing critical speeds of current optical disks, are analyzed using the Rayleigh-Ritz technique based on variational formulations. Natural frequencies of the new disk depend on membrane stresses caused by disk rotation as well as residual stresses imposed during the cooling process of the injection molding. Critical speeds are calculated for the various initial patterns of radial and circumferential stresses. Initially imposed tensile stresses increase the natural frequencies of all the vibration modes except zero nodal diameter mode, whose natural frequency is independent of circumferential stress. A new disk with initial tensile stress of 0.5MPa is shown to have its critical speed about 30 % higher than the current optical disk.

  • The basic principle and characteristics of a DTG(dynamically tuned gyroscope) are presented in this paper, which is used for the detection of disturbance and for the stabilization of gimbal. An accurate model of the rate mode DTG is proposed. This model has a resonance characteristics which is more similar to the characteristics of practical systems than the conventional 2nd order system model. Therefore, this model is applicable to the general rate mode gyroscope. Some problems at using DTG for a real electro optical tracking system are discussed and a solution is described.

  • OFDM(orthogonal frequency division modulation)은 주파수 선택적인 페이딩 환경에서 높은 전송율과 빠른 속도를 가지는 효율적인 전송 기법이다. 그러나 OFDM 심볼이 시작되는 지점을 정확히 찾지 못하면 시간 영역에서 위상회전으로 인해 수신 데이터의 BER(bit error rate)이 높아질 수 있다. QPSK(quadrature phase shift king)변조를 이용한 OFDM 시스템에선 정수배의 샘플 옵셋만 아니라 소수배의 샘플 옵셋까지 보상하여 동기를 획득해야 한다. QPSK 심볼 복조 시 소수배의 샘플 옵셋이 잔존할 경우 시스템의 수신 성능은 떨어지기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 QPSK변조를 이용한 OFDM 시스템에서 소수배의 샘플 옵셋이 존재할 경우 동기를 획득하는 방법에 대해 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 심볼 타이밍 동기 방법은 수신된 트레이닝 심볼의 상관관계를 이용하여 0.5 샘플 이전과 이후의 충격응답을 각각 구하여 이들을 차를 이용하여 동기를 획득한다. 제안한 심볼 타이밍 동기 기법의 성능은 멀티패스의 모델화 채널을 적용한 모의실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

  • We report a theoretical study on wave propagation in magneto-optic thin-film waveguides. The field distribution and phase velocity of the guided hybrid modes are analyzed in terms of the phase difference of basic system modes and the Faraday rotation of the magneto-optic thin film. Splitting of the phase constant curves due to the F araday rotation is discussed. The present hybridmode analysis leads to a conversion matrix which shows that the distance dependence of the mode conversion in the guide is different from that in the bulk medium.

  • 우수한 비강성과 비강도를 지닌 복합재료를 이용한 자동차용 추진축(Propeller Shaft)의 사용은 자동차의 구조정량화, 소음/진동 감소, 승차감 향상 측면에서 개선된 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 탄소섬유/에폭시 필라멘트 와인딩(Filament Winding) 공빔을 적용한 복합재료 튜브와 금속재 플랜지 그리고 유니버셜 조인트로 구성된 상용 차의 추진축 개발과정 중 축의 진동특성에 대한 적합한 형상과 물성을 찾기 위해 유한요소법을 적용한 자유진동 해석과 FFT 해석장비를 이용한 진동실험 그리고 축을 운용속도까지 회전시켜 공진(Resonance) 현상 발생 유무를 소음량의 측정으로 판단하는 시험이 수행되었다. 그 결과 요구조건에 적합한 진동특성을 나타내는 추진축의 형상을 결정할 수 있었다.

  • Atmospheric pressure in a tunnel rises in proportion to the square of train’s speed as it enters a tunnel. This pressure difference propagates into the train and cause aural discomfort to the passengers. In order to alleviate the aural discomfort of them. a new ventilation system has been designed and tested. This system controls the charged and discharged by flow rate by detecting the air pressure generated outside and inside of the train. Test to confirm the fundamental performance of the system was carried out. Consequently, this system was found to be able to alleviate the aural discomfort effectively. Application of the system to TGV-K running in the speed range of 350km/h is considered to have good propospect.

The Optomotor Response of Killifish and Yellowtail (송사리와 방어의 시각운동반응)

  • The authors carried out an experiment to find the optomotor response of killifish, Orizias latipes(TEMMINCK et SCHLEGEL) and Yellowtail, Seriola quinqueradiata (TEMMINCK et SCHLEGEL) according to the colors of the netting pattern on the visual screen and the revolving velocities of the visual screen. The experimental water tank was made of 0.5 cm thick transparent acryl in the cylindrical shape (100R$\times$42H cm). The water level in the tank was maintained 30cm high from the bottom. The colors of the netting pattern (mesh size: 19.1cm, width of netting twine: 1.5cm, hanging ratio: 84%) on the three visual screens were black, red and green respectively. The revolving velocities of the visual screen were controlled by pulley, bevel gear and variable speed motor in three steps; slow (15.0cm/sec), middle (37.4cm/sec) and high (62.9cm/sec). The fish was put into the water tank before each experiment and released in it for 30 minutes in order to acclimatize itself to the tank. The visual screen was revolved for 4 minutes per each experiment, at first the fish was released for 1 minute, and then the behavior of the fish was observed for 3 minutes. In the course of clockwise and counter clockwise experiments, 10 minutes-pause was given for the rest. The behavior of the fish was observed by video system, and rounding number and swimming speed of the fish were analysed. The results obtained are as follows: (1) Optomotor response rate of Killifish and yellowtail were 95% and 94% respectively. (2) Response of the fish according to the colors of the netting pattern on the three visual screens was best in black, and second in red and third in green. (3) Response of the fish according to the revolving velocities of the visual screen was best in high speed, and second in middle speed and third in slow speed.

  • An air core is generated during draining through an axisymmetrically placed circular orifice after rotating a cylindrical tank filled with a liquid. If an air core is generated, the draining flow rate decreases and the draining time increases. In this study, the process of the formation of the air core and internal flow characteristics in a cylindrical tank are studied by numerical methods. Several methods are used in the analysis, and the results are compared with experimental results to obtain the appropriate scheme. Axial, radial, and swirl velocity profiles on a variety of heights are shown graphically, and the internal flow structure is analyzed from the velocity profiles, the vector plot, and the stream function distribution.

  • Single-phase is used widely power of field of appliance because can use commercialized power directly without power transform. Specially, because condenser nu-drive style single-phase induction motor efficiency is excellent, and most suitable in embodiment as economical. It is established true that method by crossing self-discipline and method by revolving magnetic field are interpretation of net single-phase induction motor, but method to calculate electric motor inside proper move in existent theory or method is some complex. That arbor in the law of circuit constant that combine equivalent circuit law with numerical analysis law according to development of the latest computer or microprocessor is suggested and does the calculation processing fast and correct. In this paper, measurement wishes to present method that calculate after calculate digital measurement that measures correctly and measures impossible the first and the second leakage reactance and no-load test locked-rotor test, DC test and resistance measurement of stator winding in circuit parameter calculation program that is had for MatLab program individually in single-phase power.

A Study on the Sterilization Effect of Ballast Water according to the Combination of Types of Treatment Apparatus (선박평형수 처리장치의 조합에 따른 살균효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to treat the ballast water by shear stress without an environmental pollution and to find out the optimal treatment conditions. The ballast water problem is issued up as the trade activated and the cargos mobilized. To improve this problem, International Marine Organization(IMO) make the rule about the ballast water treatment with specific restrictions. Although many countries have been studying about the ballast water treatment technology, there is almost no technology that can treat the microorganisms under $50{\mu}m$ without any secondary pollution. In this study, we tried to treat ballast water by applying shear stress as the physical treatment for the sterilization and tried to find out the optimal conditions including the 100% sterilizing rate and the best economic condition.
