Numerical Analysis of Flow Characteristics in the Impeller Channel of a Double Suction Pump (양흡입 펌프 회전차 채널 내부 유동 특성 고찰)

  • 양흡입 펌프 회전차 내부 유동특성을 수치적으로 고찰하였다. 수치계산은 설계점과 2개의 탈설계점에서 이루어졌으며, Patankar에 의해 제시된 SIMPLE 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 설계점에서는 양 회전차 채널 내부에서 대칭 형상을 갖는 이차유동 특성을 발견하였지만, 탈설계점에서는 비대칭 유동특성을 발견하였다. 수치해석 결과로는 유량감소에 따라 양흡입 펌프 회전차 채널내부의 이차유동 특성이 달라진다는 사실을 고찰하였다. 또한 양흡입 펌프 회전차 단면에는 모퉁이 와류가 존재함을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Effectiveness of Entry/Exit Flare at Roundabout (진입 및 진출차로 퍼짐에 따른 회전교차로 효과 분석)

  • This study deals with the roundabout by flare of entry and exit. The goal is to analyze the relative effectiveness of roundabout by flare of entry and exit. In pursuing the above, this study gives the particular attentions to comparing the performances using VISSIM software. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the single and double roundabouts are analyzed to have LOS F in the case of total entering vehicles of 2,400pcph and 4,400pcph Second, the roundabouts by entry flare analyzed to have LOS F in the case of total entering vehicles of 2,800~3,200pcph and the roundabouts by entry and exit flare analyzed to have LOS F in the case of total entering vehicles of 3,200~3,600pcph. Finally, result of comparative analysis of roundabout and roundabout by flare of entry and exit, capacity of roundabout by flare of entry and exit are located between 1-lane roundabout and 2-lane roundabout. therefore it analyzed that roundabout by flare of entry and exit can be added to new type roundabout.

  • 환형수조는 점착성 퇴적물의 침/퇴적실험을 위한 실험장치로서, 수조내부의 수면과 접하여 회전하는 상부링(top ring)의 마찰력에 의해 흐름이 생성되며, 시간의 제약없이 흐름조건을 동일하게 만들 수 있다는 큰 장점을 갖는다. 그러나 환형수조는 원주유속의 속도차이 및 원심력으로 인한 2차 순환류가 형성되어 바닥전단응력이 불균일해지는 단점을 가지고 있으며, 이러한 이유로 인하여 환형수조를 이용한 침/퇴적실험 수행시 수조의 외벽부근에서 더 큰 침식이 발생한다. 따라서, 2차 순환류의 발생을 줄이고 바닥전단응력의 분포를 균등하게 하기 위해 양방향 회전(환형수조의 몸체를 상부링의 회전방향과 반대방향으로 회전)이 가능한 환형수조가 고안되었는데, 이러한 방법으로 2차 순환류의 크기를 저감시키고, 바닥전단응력을 균일하게 만들 수 있다. 한편, 환형수조의 양방향 회전(counter-rotation)은 현장용 환형수조에는 적용될 수 없는 단점을 갖는다. 현장실험에서는 바닥면이 없는 현장용 환형수조를 해저면에 거치시켜 자연상태의 비교란 퇴적물 시료를 저면으로 형성시키는데, 바닥면이 존재하지 않는 환형수조 본체는 회전시킬 수 없으므로 양방향 회전을 통한 2차 순환류의 저감 및 바닥전단응력 균일화의 효과를 기대할 수 없다. 이러한 이유로 환형수조의 양방향 회전은 단지 실내실험용 환형수조에만 적용된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 환형수조 본체를 회전시키지 않고 수조의 측벽과 상부링의 각도 조절을 통해 수조단면의 형상을 변화시켜 2차 순환류를 저감시키고 바닥전단응력을 균등하게 하는 방법에 대한 연구가 수행되었다. 이 방법은 본체의 회전이 필요 없으므로 현장용 환형수조에 적용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 실험장치의 구조가 단순해져 실험장치의 제작비가 절감될 수 있다. 또한 원주속도에 수직한 단면에서 속도구배가 감소되어 2차 순환류가 저감됨과 동시에 바닥전단응력이 균등하게 됨으로서 양방향 회전시와 동일한 효과가 얻어질 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • In this study, tile characteristics of three dimensional flow fields in centrifugal flump impeller are investigated by numerically. Detailed analysis and understanding of flow field in centrifugal pump are very important to predict performance of components. The three dimensional viscous fluid flow in centrifugal pump is distingushed isentropic process region from irreversible process region by wall shear effect, secondary flow, centrifugal and Coriolis forces, variation of boudary layers. Development of low momentum region by viscous fluid flow in the centrifugal impeller causes stall and blockage which is irreversible process region, and resulting in decrease of the performance and efficiency of centrifugal pump. Especially, the result is that Coriolis and centrifugal forces are most powerful factors which are increasing the irreversible region.

  • Pressure pulsations generated by the blade-tongue interaction induce vibration of the piping systems and the structure connected to pumps, resulting in the severe noise and fatigue fracture. Experiments were made on the natural frequencies of liquid columns in piping systems with a single suction, single stage, centrifugal volute pump. Experimental results show that the natural frequencies of the liquid columns in the pump piping systems depend on the dimensions of the pipes and the impeller shapes, and are not affected substantially by the rate of discharge and the rotating speed of the pump.

Traffic Volume Criteria for Roundabouts Based on Left-Turn Ratio (좌회전 비율에 따른 회전교차로 전환기준 교통량 산정)

  • All roundabouts are designed based on "Roundabout Design Guideline, Ministry of Land and Transportation, 2014" in Korea. The guideline also provides the traffic volume criteria to convert from signalized intersections to roundabouts. While the criteria are based on capacity of roundabouts, left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches are not considered to calculate the capacity of roundabouts. Therefore it is difficult to apply the traffic volume criteria in the real world. In this study, we studied the impact of left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches into capacity of roundabouts using micro-simulation. It was found that the capacity of roundabouts is changed according to left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches.

  • 도금 시뮬레이션의 목적은 실제 도금 상황에서의 전류밀도 및 도금두께 분포를 정확히 예측하여 최상의 품질과 최적의 공정조건을 확립하는데 있다. 제품에 부착된 도금 두께는 기하학적 배치에 의한 저항 (1차 전류밀도), 전기화학적 전하교환 반응에 의한 분극 (2차 전류밀도) 및 확산, 유동 등 도금물질의 공급에 의한 분극(3차 전류밀도)에 의해 결정이 된다. 현재까지 도금 시뮬레이션은 1차 전류밀도 예측에 대한 전자기학적 해석과 Butler-Volmer 식에 근거한 동력학적 전기화학 해석을 통해 2차 전류밀도 분포 해석만 이루어졌다. 즉, 도금 반응에 있어서 물질공급은 항상 일정하게 유지되는 것을 가정하고 해석을 하였다. 이는 3차 전류밀도 분포에 있어서 전극반응 계면에서의 유동에 의한 물질공급이 전기화학과는 다른 물리(physics) 영역이어서 이를 전기화학과 coupling 하는데 기술적으로 어렵기 때문이었다. 그러므로, 물질공급반응이 속도결정단계가 되는 고속도금이나 저농도 도금, gap, tranch, via hole, through hole 등의 도금의 경우에는 해석결과에 큰 오차를 야기하게 된다. 본 발표에서는 그동안 접근하지 못했던 전기도금 해석에 있어서 유동해석을 커플링하여 다중물리해석을 한 결과를 발표한다. 시편으로는 회전원판전극과 회전 헐셀을 이용하여 회전속도 (rpm)에 따른 전류밀도 및 도금두께 분포의 변화 거동을 예측하였다.

A Study on the Estimation of Design Service Traffic Volume for Turbo Roundabout (국내 나선형 교차로 도입을 위한 적정교통량 산정연구)

  • It is generally known that a two-lane roundabout has some problems in safety such as increasing conflicts, typically merging and diverging conflicts and conflicts between entering traffic and exiting as well as turning traffic. To solve these problems, a turbo-roundabout had been developed and has successfully brought safer and more efficient operation in other countries. In this study, micro simulations using VISSIM were conducted to investigate the maximum value of service traffic volume. It was found that operation of turbo-roundabouts was influenced by traffic volume for each turning traffic, and the maximum values of traffic volume were values between 2,400 and 2,800 vehicles per hour as rates of traffic volume for each turning traffic. Typically, turbo-roundabouts have limited to operate in conditions with more than 30% for left-turning traffic volume.

Analysis on the Applicability of Roundabout to the Diamond Interchange (다이아몬드 입체교차점에서의 회전교차로 도입에 따른 운영효과 분석)

  • The purposes of the study is to comparatively analyze the applicability of roundabout to the diamond interchange. In pursuing the above, this study give the particular attentions to comparing the performances of roundabout with those of TWSC and signalized intersection based on the aaSIDRA software. The main study results are as follows. First, when the entering traffic volumes(ETV) are more than 480pcph, the single-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-leged unsignalized intersection and when ETV are $480{\sim}1,880pcph$, double-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-legged intersection Second, when ETV are more than 980pcph at the single-lane intersection and $1,600{\sim}3,680pcph$ at the double-lane intersection, roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than other 3-legged intersections. In summary, when the roundabout installs at the interchange, it is important to consider the range of ETV.

Modification of Balancing Piston for Trimming of Impeller Diameter for Maintaining Axial-Thrust Balance in Low-Specific-Speed Multistage Centrifugal Pumps (저비속도 원심 회전차 외경가공에 따른 축추력 불균형을 감쇄시키기 위한 평형 피스톤 수정방안에 관한 고찰)

  • In the present study, the imbalance in the axial-thrust and variation in the volumetric efficiency that occurred during the trimming of impeller diameter were investigated. The present study was focused on low-specific-speed multistage centrifugal pumps with a balancing piston as the balancing mechanism. The effects of impeller trimming on the axial-thrust balance in multistage pumps with horizontal and vertical axes were compared. The results showed that impeller trimming resulted in an additional axial-thrust acting in direction of pump inlet. The axial-thrust imbalance due to impeller trimming was more severe in the vertical-axis pumps than in the horizontal-axis pumps. The rate of increase in the diameter of the balancing piston, which was proportional to the rate of impeller trimming, was evaluated to maintain the axial-thrust balance. Furthermore, a simultaneous increase in the piston length and piston diameter was more effective for reducing the axial-thrust imbalance along with the volumetric efficiency drop.
