Comparisons of Kinematical Analysis for the Universal-joint System by Using Finite Rotations and Quaternions (유한회전과 4원수를 이용한 유니버설 조인트 시스템의 기구해석 비교)

  • This paper deals with the comparison of analysis methodologies by applying both Euler angle and quaternion to observe the kinematical behavior of the universal joint system used as an automotive drive-shaft. At first, conventional approaches are applied to predict a kinematical behavior by introducing only Euler angles into the universal joint system, but turns out to be lack in consistency and reliability of the analysis. Then to overcome this deficiency in numerical analysis a different methodology is proposed by using quaternion in this system. Its corresponding advantage is discussed in terms of kinetic energy, rotational velocity and rotational displacement. The application of quaternions in the numerical experiment is shown to be a more useful and valid way of establishing the ideal analytical model of the universal joint system.

  • 본 논문에서는 유니버설 조인트의 동역학적인 해석을 위하여 오일러 각 순서에 의한 방법과 4원수에 의한 방법으로 운동방정식을 유도하였다. 원동축과 종동축의 회전은 물론 세차운동을 하는 회전축을 포함할 때 각 방법의 상이점을 발견하였다. 이러한 시스템의 동역학적 정식화를 바탕으로 한 수치 예제를 통하여 기존의 오일러 각 방법과 제시한 4원수 방법의 해석 결과를 비교하였다.

Design of the L-band Rotary Joint in Ring Contact Type to Improve Signal Insertion Loss (삽입손실 개선을 위한 링 접촉식 구조의 L대역 로터리조인트 설계)

  • This paper deals with the design of the L-band rotary joint, which is a core part of the tracking radar system. The rotary joint is a part that is mounted on the rotating parts of the tracking system antenna, which smoothly transmits RF signals with minimizing signal insertion loss. To improve the insertion loss of rotary joint, 1) dielectric materials, 2) design of distribution ring and 3)dielectric shape are studied. The performance of proposed rotary joint is compared with the conventional product. The prototype rotary joint showed a max insertion loss of 0.68dB, that is improved about 46% compare with conventional product which insertion loss was 1.26dB.

  • In this paper, modeling methods for 2D joints are proposed. Earlier methods for modeling 2D joints that use geometric relationships may not consider irregularities or dynamic effects of joints. In any case, it is important to consider irregularities or dynamic effects. To consider those, methods that use dynamic contacts are proposed. With the method, 2D joints that have irregularities or dynamic effects amy be model- ed and analyzed. 2D joints that are developed are revolute, translational, gear and point-follower joint.

  • VTR(Video Tape Recorder) has very complicated mechanisms composed of various cams, links, gears and so on. To satisfy kinematic requirements of VTR components, various geometric constraints between rigid bodies and a translational cam design program are developed. Mechanisms of VTR are divided into functional groups like a control part, a loading part and a tape guide part. Each group is modeled for kinematic and dynamic analysis. Finally, all groups are combined together for a complete VTR model and loads required for each function of VTR controls are studied. Detailed description of developed programs are presented and result are discussed.

  • In this study, a Ka-band waveguide rotary joint that can be applied to a millimeter-wave seeker is designed and fabricated. The proposed rotary joint maintains a low standing-wave ratio and low-loss characteristics, and has two rotary axes designed to enable azimuth and elevation rotation. The rotary joint is designed as a ridge-waveguide-type mode converter and a ${\lambda}/4$ choke structure to match the electromagnetic wave propagation mode between the spherical and circular waveguides. A performance test using a network analyzer and a high-power transmitter to assess vibration and shock were conducted. Results showed that the rotary joint had a very low standing-wave ratio of less than the maximum of 1.19:1 and an insertion loss of less than 0.80 dB at $F_C{\pm}500MHz$.

  • Ball joint is a rotating and swiveling element that is typically the interface between two parts. In an automobile, the ball joint is the component that connects the control arms to the steering knuckles by playing a role of bearing. The ball joint can also be installed in linkage systems for motion control applications. This paper describes the simulation strategy for a ball joint analysis, considering manufacturing process. Its manufacturing process can be divided into plugging and spinning. Then, the interested response is selected as the stress distribution generated between its ball and bearing. In this paper, a commercial code of NX DAFUL 2.0 using an implicit integration method is introduced to calculate the response. In addition, the gap analysis is performed to investigate the fitness. Also, the optimum design is suggested through case studies.

  • 본 논문에서는 유니버설 조인트의 기구학적인 해석을 위하여 원동축이 평면 내에 존재할 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우에 대하여 종동축의 속도를 관찰하였다. 평면 내의 경우는 기존 이론값과 동일하나 평면 외의 경우는 유한회전의 순서에 따라서 독립적인 결과값을 가지게 된다. 이는 오일러 각의 순서를 달리하면 표현되는 속도가 다르기 때문이며 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위하여 원동축에 4원법을 적용하였다. 수치 예제를 통하여 기존의 방법과 제시한 방법을 비교하여 제시한 방법이 일관성 있는 결과를 제공함을 확인하였다.

An Inverse Dynamic Analysis of Lower Limbs During Gait (보행 중 하지 관절의 역동역학 해석)

  • An inverse dynamic model of lower limbs is presented to calculate joint moments during gait. The model is composed of 4 segments with 3 translational joints and 12 revolute joints. The inverse dynamic method is based on Newton-Euler formalism. Kinematic data are obtained from 3 dimensional trajectories of markers collected by a motion analysis system. External forces applied on the foot are measured synchronously using force plate. The use of developed model makes it possible to calculate joint moments for variation of parameters.

  • The major goal of this study is to develop the industrialized structural system that can build high-rise buildings using the box-shaped steel frames such as a unit module system. In order to achieve such a goal, we need the advanced details for joints that consist in a single unit. Furthermore we also need to commercialize the unit modular building system through the basic experiments, research of theoretical analysis and the achievement of seismic performance. This study derived to develop the derails in the beam-to-column joint and to carry out structural performance test. Test results, a joint with thickness of 6.0T can be possible to maintain the plastic rotational angle for strength and seismic performance. Therefore, joint with thickness of 6.0T is able to apply when considering reinforcement in the local of stress concentration.
