Experimental investigation was performed to analyze the flow field characteristics and power generation performance for a shroud tidal power generation system. Electrical power output was compared with the rotational speed of the turbine blade and electric load connected to the generator for various flow velocity. As the electrical load decreased, the speed of the turbine increased rapidly and reached by about 2 times. The power output also increased remarkably with the decrease of load, and then decreased after maximum power point. In addition, the maximum power point appeared at high electrical loads as the experimental flow velocity increased. These results of the flow field characteristics and power generation performance analysis of the shroud tidal power generation system variation with the flow velocity conditions and electrical load are expected to be the basic data necessary for the development of efficient shroud tidal power generation system.
Flow characteristics of the cylinder wake controlled with a small control cylinder were experimentally investigated by the PN (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. Flow visualization of the flow around a circular cylinder was conducted in the Circulating Water Channel. The control cylinder having diameter of d=5mm, 10mm and 20mm was installed behind a circular cylinder of D=50mm. And the Reynolds number were $Re=4.9{\times}10^3,\;Re=9.9{times}10^3$ and $Re=1.9{\times}10^4$. In this study, the frequency characteristics of the controlled wake were analyzed by using spectral analysis of the measured wake velocity signals. As a result, the controlled wake had smaller vortex shedding frequency than that of circular cylinder wake by the effect of the control cylinder. Governing parameters of the flow control were d/D, and Reynolds number and they largely influenced the frequency characteristics of the cylinder wake. And vortex shedding frequency appeared most lowly at d=0.2D
The keel attached on bottom of hull part prevents yacht from flowing sideway by sailing posture. The keel remove a heel moment and make the force of stability. The selection of suitable keel is important bemuse it has an influence on the safety. Also the appendage attached on bottom of keel part lower ballast weight center and have influence on hull stability. The optimum shape about the keel is very important. So this study has compared with characteristics of resistance depending on the shape of the lower part of fin keel in the same surface of water submersion, we have attached three different types of models of lower part of fin keels to the model ships using circulating water channel and analyzed resistance characteristics per shape to arrive at the optimum shape of reduction of resistance.
In order to make clear the resistance of bag nets, the resistance R of bag nets with wall area S designed in pyramid shape was measured in a circulating water tank with control of flow velocity v and the coefficient k in $R=kSv^2$ was investigated. The coefficient k showed no change In the nets designed in regular pyramid shape when their mouths were attached alternately to the circular and square frames, because their shape in water became a circular cone in the circular frame and equal to the cone with the exception of the vicinity of frame in the square one. On the other hand, a net designed in right pyramid shape and then attached to a rectangular frame showed an elliptic cone with the exception of the vicinity of frame in water, but produced no significant difference in value of k in comparison with that making a circular cone in water. In the nets making a circular cone in water, k was higher in nets with larger d/l, ratio of diameter d to length I of bars, and decreased as the ratio S/S_m$ of S to the area $S_m$ of net mouth was increased or as the attack angle 9 of net to the water flow was decreased. But the value of ks15m was almost constant in the region of S/S_m=1-4$ or $\theta=15-90^{\circ}$ and in creased linearly in S/S_m>4 or in $\theta<15^{\circ}$ However, these variation of k could be summarized by the equation obtained in the previous paper. That is, the coefficient $k(kg\;\cdot\;sec^2/m^4)$ of bag nets was expressed as $$k=160R_e\;^{-01}(\frac{S_n}{S_m})^{1.2}\;(\frac{S_m}{S})^{1.6}$$ for the condition of $R_e<100$ and $$k=100(\frac{S_n}{S_m})^{1.2}\;(\frac{S_m}{S})^{1.6}$$ for $R_e\geq100$, where $S_n$ is their total area projected to the plane perpendicular to the water flow and $R_e$ the Reynolds' number on which the representative size was taken by the value of $\lambda$ defined as $$\lambda={\frac{\pi d^2}{21\;sin\;2\varphi}$$ where If is the angle between two adjacent bars, d the diameter of bars, and 21 the mesh size. Conclusively, it is clarified that the coefficient k obtained in the previous paper agrees with the experimental results for bag nets.

This study deals with an analysis on the sinking resistance for the model purse seine, in the case of different netting material and sinkers. The experiment was carried out using rune simplified model seines of knotless nettings. Dimension of model seines 420cm for corkline and 85cm for seine depth, three groups of models rigged 25, 45 and 60g with the same weighted sinkers in water were used. These were named PP-25, PA-25, PES-25, PP-45, PA-45, PES-45, PP-60, PA-60 and PES-60 seine. The densitie($\rho$) of netting materials were 0.91g/cm$cm^3$, 1.14g/cm$cm^3$ and 1.38g/cm$m^3$. Experiments carried out in the observation channel in a flume tank under still water conditions. Sinking motion was recorded by the one set of TV-camera for VTR, and reading coordinate carried out by the video digitization system. Differential equations were derived from the conservation of momenta of the model purse seines and used to determine the sinking speeds of the depths of leadline and the other portions of the seines. An analysis carried out by simultaneous differential equations for numerical method by sub-routine Runge-Kutta-Gill The results obtained were as follows : 1. Average sinking speed of leadline for the model seines rigged 60g with the same weighted sinkers in water was fastest for 12.2cm/sec of PES seine, followed by 11.4cm/sec of PA and 10.7cm/sec of PP seines. 2. The coefficient of resistance for netting of seine was estimated to be $K_D=0.09(\frac{\rho}{\rho_w})^4$ 3. The coefficient of resistance for netting bundle of seine was estimated to be $C_R=0.91(\frac{\rho}{\rho_w})$ 4. In all seines, the calculated depths of leadline closely agreed with the measured ones, each 25g, 45g, 60g of weighted sinkers were put into formulas meas.=1.04cal., meas.=0.99cal. and meas.=0.98 cal.

The midwater pair trawl which is being used at present in Korea have several problems. Firstly, it is difficult to control the net height on high towing speed. Secondly, net breaking often occurs owing to floats and thirdly, the volume of net on the net drum is so large. This study is aiming for examining the possibility of application for the Korean midwater pair trawl through the model experiment of non-float midwater pair trawl. The model of non-float midwater pair trawl was manufactured as 1/100 of the full scale net which is being used in bottom pair trawl for 850ps class considering the Tauti's Similarity law. The model experiment was carried out to analyze the opening efficiency according to the variation of lower warp length and the opening efficiency was investigated between th proto type and non-float type. The results obtained can be summarized as follows ; 1. The hydrodynamic resistance of non-float type was about 10~20% smaller than that of the proto type and it increased about 1ton according to the increase of dL at the condition of the same flow speed. The resistance acting on the lower warp decreased about 5% but that of the upper warp increased according to the increase of lower warp length (dL) at the condition of the same flow speed. 2. The net height of the non-float type decreased almost linearly according as the increased of flow speed and it increased in a logarithmic functional form with the increase of the lower warp length at the condition of the same flow speed. On the decreasing rate of the net height, the non-float type was lower than the proto type and the difference of the decreasing rate was about 12% at 3.0 knot, 25% at 4.0 knot, 25% at 4.0 knot respectively when dL was 30m. 3. The net width of non-float type was not varied so much as only 2m range and was larger than that of proto type. 4. The mouth area of non-float type decreased in a exponential functional form. On the decreasing rate of the mouth area, the non-float type was lower than the proto type. The filtering volume increased in a logarithmic functional form with increasing flow speed and the filtering volume of proto type decreased steeply over 3.0knot, but that of non-float type increased until 4.0knot. 5. The optimal length of lower warp was when the value of dL was about 30m and the optimal position of front weight was at the connection point of four net pendants.

In order to investigate the optimal design weight of sinkers for preventing cage net from deforming in current, the model experiment on 2 types of square cage nets with different S sub(n)/S, the ratio of total area of netting projected to the perpendicular to the water flow S sub(n) to wall area of netting S, and 4 kinds of sinkers was carried out in circulation water channel. The model cage nets were made in 1/10 scale and the total weight in water of 4 sinkers attached to each corner of their bottom frames was 18, 54, 90, and 126g, respectively equivalent to 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 kg per unit area of prototype net. The results obtained can be summarizes as follows; Due to the deformation of each net where it was lifted towards the surface in severe conditions, its volume was reduced. This depended highly on the weight of sinkers placed in the bottom corner of cage nets, even if the variation of S sub(n)/S had a little effect on their deformation in current less than 0.4 m/s. In addition, it was observed that the total weight of sinkers for preventing the net from deforming to the extent of less than 50% inside its initial volume was 31 to 245 kg in the range of 0.3 to 0.6 m/s and the adequate design weight of sinker was approximately 0.5 kg per its unit area.

This paper introduces an analysis method to predicting the flow characteristic of flow field around otter board In order to develope a high performance model. In this experiment, it is used a numerical analysis of flow field through CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamic), PIV method in which quantitative, qualitative evaluation is possible. In this experiment, it is used PIV method with flow filed image around otter board in order to analysis of flow characteristic. The result compared flow pattern with analysis result through CFD and also measurement result of lift and drag force coefficient carried out in CWC(Circulating Water Channel). The numerical analysis result is matched well with experiment result of PIV in the research and it is able to verify In the physical aspect. The result is as follows ; (1) It was carried out visibility experiment using laser light sheet, and picture analysis through PIV method in order to analysis fluid field of otter-board. As a result, the tendency of qualitative fluid movement only through the fluid particle's flow could be known. (2) Since PIV analysis result is quantitative, this can be seen in velocity vector distributions, instantaneous streamline contour, and average vorticity distributions through various post processing method. As a result, the change of flow field could be confirmed. (3) At angle of attack 24$^{\circ}$ where It Is shown maximum spreading force coefficient, the analysis result of CFD and PIV had very similar flow pattern. In both case, at the otter-board post edge a little boundary layer separation was seen, but, generally they had a good flow (4) As the result of post processing with velocity vector distributions, instantaneous streamline contour and average vorticity distributions by PIV, boundary layer separation phenomenon started to happen from angle of attack 24$^{\circ}$, and from over angle of attack 28$^{\circ}$, it happen at leading edge side with the width enlarged.

This study deals with sinking resistance for purse seine, in the case of different d/l, ratio of twine diameter and leg length. Experiments carried out on the six types simplified reduced model seines which were made of knotless netting. The nettings were woven in different leg length 4.3, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.6 and 7.7mm of polyester 28 tex two threads two -ply twine, and each of the seines were named I, II, III, IV, V and Ⅵ seine. Dimension of seine models were 450cm for corkline and 85cm for seine depth, each seines rigged up 160g of float for a floatline and 50g (underwater weight) of lead for a leadline. Experiments were measured in the observation channel of a flume tank at the static conditions Sinking motion was recorded by the two sets TV-camera for VTR which were placed in top and side of the model seine, and reading coordinate carried out by the video digitization system. An analysis were calculated out by simultaneous differential equations for numerical method by Runge - Kutta - Gill sub - routine. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Average sinking speed of seine of seine margin was fastest for Ⅵ seine followed by V, IV, III, II and I seines. 2. The coefficient of resistance for a seine wall was depended upon the ratio of d/l : KD =0.081 (d/l )-0.5 3. A study was carried out to estimate the deformation of the set net according to the current by the model test in the circulation water channel. The tension of the frame line and the variation of net shapes were measured to investigate the deforming of the model set net in the flow. The results are obtained as follows; 1. The tensions (y) of the frame line according to the flow speed(x) from 0.0m/s to 0.6m/s were expressed by the experimental equation as follow : y= 1814.1x+115.12 2. In case of the upperward flow with fish court net, deformed angle in the upperward net was changed from 0$^{\circ}$ to 79$^{\circ}$, the inclined passage net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 56$^{\circ}$. Besides, the depth ratio of the first bag net changed from 1.0 to 0.42 and the second bag net was from 1.0 to 0.41, and deformed angle in the downward of the bag net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 87$^{\circ}$. 3. In case of the upperward flow with bag net, deformed angle in the upperward net was changed from 0$^{\circ}$ to 60$^{\circ}$, the inclined passage net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 13$^{\circ}$. Besides, the depth ratio of the first bag net changed from 1.0 to 0.27 and the second bag net was from 1.0 to 0.15. In the flow speed 0.3m/s, the inclined passage net rised up to the entry of the bag net and then prevented it more over 90% in 0.5m/s. A deformed angle in the downward of the fish court net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 58$^{\circ}$. 4. To minimize the deformation of each part in model set net, it needs to attach the moving weight out of the fish court net, inclined passage net and bag net. Besides, it needs to adjust the tension of the net twine for the maintenance of the shape.
