Collapse Type and Processes of the Geumosan Caldera in the Southern Gumi, Korea (구미 남부 금오산 칼데라의 함몰 유형과 과정)

  • The Gumi basin, situated in the mid-southeastern Yeongnam Massif, has the Cretaceous stratigraphy that is divided into Gumi Formation, andesitic rocks (Yeongamsan Tuff, Busangni Andesite), rhyolitic rocks (Obongni Tuff, Doseongul Rhyolite, Geumosan Tuff) and Intrusives (ring dikes, other dikes) in ascending order. The Geumosan Tuff is composed mostly of many ash-flow tuffs which are associated with Geumosan caldera along with the ring dikes. The caldera is outlined by ring faults and dikes and has about 3.5 × 5.6 km in diameters. The intracaldera volcanics show a downsag structure that is dipped inward in their flow and welding foliations. The caldera block represent an asymmetric subsidence, which drops 350 m in the northern margin and 600 m in the southern one. Based on these data, the Geumosan caldera is geometrically classified as an asymmetric piston subsidence caldera that suggests a single caldera cycle. The caldera reflects the piston subsidence of the caldera block bounded by the outward-dipping ring faults following a voluminous eruption of magma from the chamber. The downsag in the caldera block refers to the downsagging during the initial subsidence at the same time as the full development of the bound fault. In the ring fissures following the sagging, magma was injected due to the overpressure of magma chamber caused by subsidence.

  • 정보통신부가 후원하고 한국데이터베이스진흥센터와 조선일보, 매일경제신문, 한국소프트웨어진흥원이 주관한 2004년도 제4/4분기 '디지털콘텐츠대상' 수상식이 지난 12월 15일 정보통신부 중앙회의실에서 열렸다. 이날 수상식에는 정보통신부 손홍 정보통신 정책국장을 비롯, 한국데이터베이스진흥센터의 이준우 전무이사 등 정보통신분야 주요인사들이 대거 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 이날 수상한 업체 및 수상콘텐츠를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 디지털정보 및 웹케스팅 부문에서는 조이링크코리아(주)의 '조이링크'가 공익 및 교육용 콘텐츠 부문에는 '창의와탐구'의 '발명이 즐겁다'가, 디지털영상 부문에는 (주)에펙스디지털의 '환상마을 토포토포'가 각각 수상했다.

Comparison of KOH Positivity According to Sites of the Ring-shaped Dermatophytotic Skin Lesion (백선의 환상 병소에서 부위에 따른 KOH 도말검사상 양성율의 비교)

  • KOH examination is a simple, rapid and diagnostic procedure to confirm dermatophytic infections. It is important to select a proper examination site of the lesion. To determinate the proper examination site of the lesion, mycologic studies were done with multiple specimens collected from the center, margin and out of margin of the ring-shaped dermatophytotic skin lesion on the 58 patients. The results were as follows. Positive rate of KOH wet smear was 94.8% at the center and 100% at the margin of the lesions, 22.4% at the 1cm and 5.2% at the 2cm out of the lesions. The more hyphae were found in the lesion, the more hyphae were found out of the lesion. Culture was done on the Sabouraud's glucose agar from the highest KOH positive area and the positive culture was 48 strains(82.8%) of 58 patients. These findings suggested that the ring-shaped active margin was the best site to examine mycologic studies.

  • Single phase heat transfer coefficients were measured for turbulent water flow in a micro-fin tube by using Wilson plot technique. An experiment for counterflow heat exchange between the micro-fin tube and its outer annulus passage was performed. The annulus side heat transfer resistance was varied and the overall heat transfer coefficients were measured. The single-phase heat transfer coefficients in a micro-fin tube were obtained by Wilson plot technique. Nusselt numbers based on the real heat transfer area and the nominal area were about 35% and 50% larger than those for smooth tube respectively Also, single-phase heat transfer correlations based on real heat transfer area and nominal area have been proposed for a micro-fin tube.

  • Rotor dynamic response of pumps is greatly influenced by the nature of the hydraulic forces arising from wearing seal, balance drum and impeller, etc.. Therefore, rotor dynamic analysis should be conducted during the design stage in order to aleviate some of the vibrational problems which might occur during the operational life of pumps. Previsousely, the authors have proposed the method to obtain the dynamic seal coefficients of the annular plain seal, convergent and divergent tapered seals, parallel grooved seal, spiral grooved seal and annular stepped seal. On the basis of these results, this paper presents the investigated effect of seals on the stability behavior of a centrifugal pump. The results show the effects of seal geometry, pressure difference, clearance, length/diameter ratio, on stability behavior.

  • 제3차 전력수급기본계획(산업자원부, '06.12 공고)에 의하면 전국 총수요의 43% 정도가 수도권에 집중될 것으로 전망되고, 또한 지역간 수급불균형 현상 심화 및 계통 고장전류 증대 등에 따른 수도권의 전력공급 신뢰도 확보가 우려됨에 따라 안정적 전력계통 구축을 위한 중장기적 대책 마련이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 발전설비의 인천 서해안지역 집중 현상 및 한강 이북지역에 대한 전력공급 능력 등을 상세 검토 분석하였으며, 지역간의 원활한 전력융통을 위하여 발전설비가 집중된 인천지역에서 수도권 내륙으로의 신규 초고압 송전선로의 건설 필요성 및 고장전류 감소를 위한 수도권 환상망의 2원화 구성 등의 내용을 개략적으로 설명하였다.

  • Accurate measurements of the heat transfer coefficients of concentric annular space for the test section is important to measure the tube-side heat transfer coefficients of working fluids. This paper presents the annular side heat transfer coefficients of concentric annuli with variation of tube diameter ratios using Wilson plot method. The test facility has a straight, horizontal test section with an active length of 3.0 m. Inner/outer diameters of test tubes are 7.0/7.5 and 8.0/8.56 mm, respectively. An outer diameter of annulus side is 16.0 mm. The test results show that convective heat transfer coefficients in annuli increase with annular diameter ratio. The correlations for convective heat transfer coefficients in annuli are also developed.
