The Environmental Impact Quotient on Fruit and Vegetables Pesticides in Korea (국내 과채류에 등록된 농약에 대한 환경영향지수)

  • The Environmental Impact Quotient(EIQ) has been used to organize the extensive toxicological and soil residue data available on some fruit vegetables pesticides into a usable form for field use. It addresses a majority of the environmental concerns that are encountered in agricultural systems including farm worker, consumer, ecological and environmental safety. The EIQ made use of the rating system by using the EIQ equation. The EIQ of pesticides registered for oriental melon was higher than that of other in terms of farm worker, consumer and environmental safety. Pesticides registered for red pepper showed highest EIQ in ecosystem. The EIQ decreased in order of insecticide> fungicide> herbicide> plant growth regulator. The environment Impact Quotient for the pesticides registered in fruit and vegetables decrease gradually.

  • The goal of impact studies (e.g., as mandated by NEPA in the USA) is to ensure that the full implications of development proposals (ecologic, economic, and social) are taken into account before decisions are made and projects are allowed to proceed. In other words, the aim is to ensure that impact assessment is integrated into planning and policy processes. Today. nearly 25 years after the enactment of NEPA, it is appropriate to inquire regarding the extent of progress toward such integration. This paper examines the role of impact assessment in planning and policy processes with specific reference to resource development projects in the Great Plains region of the USA. The author gives special attention to the socioeconomic impacts associated with energy resource extraction and conversion projects and the role of impact assessment in project evaluation, in local and regional planning, and in state policy development.

A Comparative Study on the Plans for Strategic Environmental Assessment in Korea and Foreign Countries (국내외 전략환경평가 대상계획 비교 연구)

  • The Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment(SEIA) in Korea has been introduced and implemented for 15 policy-level plans and 86 project-level plans since 2012. Lately an important issue of the Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) policy has been emerged regarding the expansion of the policy-level plans subjected to SEIA. Thus, we propose the plans that need to be included in the system, compared with those subjected to the Strategic Environmental Assessment(SEA) enforced in the law or the guideline of 10 foreign counties, especially with those of Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Netherlands. Specifically the study suggests that plans related to energy as well as land use, which are well known to cause potential environmental impacts and subjected to the federal-level SEA in those countries, should be the subject of SEIA.

  • This study is intended to look into the effects of small business startup environments on failure burden and startup failure. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 300 small business CEOs in Seoul. The results were as follows. First, the effect of startup environments on failure burden showed that management environment, business environment, internal organizational environment and external organizational environment had a negative effect on failure burden. Second, the effect of startup environments on financial and non-financial losses showed that startup management environment, startup business environment and internal organizational environment had a negative effect on financial and non-financial losses. Third, the effect of failure burden on startup failure showed that failure burden had a positive effect on financial and non-financial losses. Consequently, this study indicates that internal organizational commitment and communication are important attributes affecting failure burden, financial and non-financial losses, compared with management quality, entrepreneurship and business environment.

항공사-여행사 관계에서 수요환경 및 영향전략에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구는 최근 수요환경의 변화를 겪고 있는 항공사-여행사 관계를 중심으로 영향력 관계, 거래 집중화, 영향전략 등에 대하여 검토하고 있다. 항공권 판매 시장의 수요환경은 최종고객 중심으로 전환되고 있다. 이러한 환경적 변화는 항공사 유통역량 평가에 부정적인 영향을 주고 항공사의 낮아진 영향력은 여행사의 거래 집중화 경향을 감소시킬 것이라는 가설을 수립하였다. 추가하여 최종고객 중심의 수요환경 변화가 경로 구성원 상호 영향전략에 미치는 영향에 대해 가설을 수립하였다. 즉 영향력 관계가 비대칭적인 상황에서도 수요환경이 최종고객 중심으로 전개된다면 항공사의 영향전략에 대해서 여행사는 동일한 영향전략을 수행한다는 가설을 수려하였다. 그리고 항공사의 영향력과 여행사의 거래 집중화 관계에 경로 내 영향전략 유형에 따른 조절 효과를 가설화 하였다. 결과는 대체로 기대했던 가설이 채택되는 방향으로 나타났다. 그러나 비강압적 전략의 사용과 관련된 두 가지 가설은 기각되었다.

  • 본 연구는 폐플라스틱 재활용의 합리적인 방안을 제시하기 위한 기초자료로서 재활용방법(물질재활용, 에너지 회수, 화학적재활용)에 대한 주요 환경인자를 규명하며, 이를 토대로 전과정평가 도구(tool)인 시마프로 5.0을 이용하여 폐플라스틱의 재활용 방법별 환경성을 비교하였다. 폐플라스틱의 재생원료화 전 공정에 투입되는 투입산출물로 인한 환경부하(Original Impact)와 재생원료의 신재 대체를 고려한 환경부하 삭감효과(Avoided Impact)를 합한 최종 영향 평가를 토대로 재활용방법별 환경성을 비교하여 환경영향범주에 대하여 비교 평가하였다. 그 결과 폐플라스틱 재활용방법에 대한 각 영향범주별 주요 영향 요인은 지구온난화로 나타났다. 또한, 지구온난화에 대한 영향은 물질재활용, RDF공정 및 용기형 폐플라스틱 고로원료화공정이 음(-)의 값으로 환경삭감효과가 크게 나타났으며, 오존층 파괴에 대한 영향은 유화 공정이 환경부하가 가장 크게 나타났다. 산성화, 부영양화 및 광화학산화물 생성에 대한 영향은 용기형 고로원료화와 RDF공정이 환경부하삭감효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다.

  • Bridges which are components of road network consume large amounts of resources such as concrete and steel materials, which have large environmental impacts during construction. This causes a great environmental burden. In order to reduce the environmental impact caused by the construction of the bridge, the environmental impact should be reviewed based on reasonable data in the early design stage. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for LCA-based environmental impact assessment in the process of selecting bridge type in the early design stage. For this purpose, design data for four types of PSC bridges (general PSC girder, IPC girder, e-Beam, DR girder) were collected and LCA was performed to analyze the basic unit value and impact factors of environmental load. The results of the analysis showed that the environmental impact of IPC girder was the smallest, and the environmental impact of e-Beam was 133.7% higher than that of IPC girder. In addition, concrete, reinforcement, PC strand, square timber, sheath pipe, and steel plate were derived as the main factors that generate 98.5% of the overall environmental impact of PSC girder.

  • Initially the paper will explore the concept, evolution and utility of Sustainable Development in the broad context of its links to the EIA process by predicting in advance decisions being made attempts to balance the needs of environmental, economic and social objectives. The paper then considers how an evolving and improved EIA process and in particular with the emphasis increasingly riving from projects to polieies, plans and programmes, can provide q framework to operationalise Sustainable Development with the focus on cumulative impacts, making EIA "problem focussed" and linking policy, environmental planning and assessment. The paper then reviews some of the practical EIA tools and methods that can support the practical application of more susk inable forms of development. The paper concludes by considering the follow ups that are now occurring after the Reo Sumit and suggests that has a Key and powerful role to play in this process, whether at an institutional prettiest policy level.

Analysis regarding the Environmental Impact of the Life Cycle of Housing Complexes in Korea (국내 주거 단지에 대한 전과정 환경영향 분석)

  • This study on condominium complex will adopt the quantitative assessment of the influence on the environment throughout the entire life cycle of buildings. This paper applies input-out analysis in order to analyse embodied energy regarding input of materials at material production phase. Also, it calculates environment load at use and demolition and destruction Phases of buildings as analysing energy consumption. The study categorises environment load as six impact categories and undertakes environmental impact evaluation. The consequence shows that the environment load of multi-unit dwelling takes up 88.2% out of the entire environment load of condominium complex. Also, as a result of analyzing the environmental impact of the life cycle of condominium buildings, it was found that such environmental impact comprised of about 11.96% of all industries in Korea that had an environmental impact.
