The study on the Base point and baseline in Korea, Japan, and China (한반도 주변의 영해기점 및 기선에 관한 연구 - 한국, 중국, 일본을 중심으로)

  • The countries are trying to expand the sea limit such as the territorial sea, fishing zone or the exclusive economic zone as far as the Law of the Sea permit to do for the benefit of their national interest. Especially, they are eager to claim the base point where it locates far from the coastline even if it is uninhabited island or reef under the sea. The baseline has been claimed to maximize the territorial sea. Another way to expand the sea limit is to lower the vertical datum to change the land limit. China claimed Dongdo which is located about 79 miles far from the coast as the base point. Japan also claimed many uninhabited island or the reef which is located very far from the coast such as Okino Dorishima. As Korea is the party who negotiate the maritime limit with Japan and China, we should be keen and sensitive on the issues claimed by neighboring countries in terms of base point and the baseline. This paper is to review the characteristics of the base points or baselines of neighboring countries and to suggest the views how to maintain and to relocate our base points. As western coast of Korean peninsula is one of the largest tide fluctuation zone in the world, with long tidal record to prove the vertical datum adjustment, Korea can find the way to lower the vertical datum especially in Yellow Sea. So, major and critical tidal station has to be set up along the western coast to verify tide fluctuation record which can be met with international standard.

A Study on Sea Water and Ocean Current in the Sea Adjacent to Korea Peninsula - Expansion of Coastal Waters and Its Effect on Temperature Variations in The South Sea of Korea - (한반도 근해의 해류와 해수 특성 -남해연안수 확장과 수온변화-)

  • The temporal and spatial distribution of the coastal cold waters which was formed due to winter colling in the South Sea of Korea was analyzed by IR images from satellite and in situ data from shipboard observations. The coastal waters are known to be consisted of the Yellow Sea Coastal Waters(YSCW) and the South Korean Coastal Waters(SKCW). The former is driven around the Chuja-do and drifted into the Cheju Strait by residual currents, while the latter expands toward offsea by southward wind forcing. The expansion patterns of the SKCW were observed as sinking expansion or drifting expansion such that both were strongly dependent on the surface heat flux conditions. Under the condition of positive heat flux(warmer sea surface) or when the sea surface heat is lost to the atmosphere, the surface water started sinking and eventually expanded toward the open sea causing the cooling of the water column. For the negative heat flux the surface water was just drifted horizontally and expanded seaward and in this case only the surface layer of water was cooled.

A study of single-phase liquid cooling by multiple nozzle impingement on the smooth and extended surfaces (다중노즐에 의해 분사된 평면 및 확장면의 단상액체냉각에 관한 연구)

  • Experiments were performed to characterize single-phase heat transfer behavior of submerged liquid jet with multiple nozzle normally impinging on the smooth and extended surfaces. Arrays of 9 and 36 nozzles were used, with diameters of 0.5 to 2.0mm providing nozzle area ratio (AR) from 0.05 to 0.2. The square pin fin arrays were chosen as extended surfaces and the effects of geometrical parameters such as fin height, the ratio of fin width to channel width on heat transfer enhancement were examined. Single nozzle characteristics were also evaluated for comparison. The results clearly showed that heat transfer enhancement could be realized by using multiple nozzles at the constant volume flow rate. The average Nusselt number of multiple nozzle impingement on the smooth surface was correlated by the following equation : Nu/$Pr\frac{1}{3}=0.94 Re^{0.56}N^{-0.12}AR^{0.50}$The average heat transfer coefficients of multiple nozzle impingement on the extended surfaces decreased with increasing fin height and the ratio of fin width to channel width. The effectiveness of ex-tended surfaces ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 depending on the fin height, the ratio of fin width to channel width of pin fin arrays, nozzle number and nozzle area ratio.

Performance Comparison of Various Extended Kalman Filter and Cost-Reference Particle Filter for Target Tracking with Unknown Noise (노이즈 불확실성하에서의 확장칼만필터의 변종들과 코스트 레퍼런스 파티클필터를 이용한 표적추적 성능비교)

  • In this paper, we study target tracking in two dimensional space using a Extended Kalman filter(EKF), various Extended Kalman Filter and Cost-Reference Particle Filter(CRPF), which can effectively estimate the state values of nonlinear measurement equation. We introduce various Extended Kalman Filter which the Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF), the Central Difference Kalman Filter(CDKF), the Square Root Unscented Kalman Filter(SR-UKF), and the Central Difference Kalman Filter(SR-CDKF). In this study, we calculate Mean Square Error(MSE) of each filters using Monte-Carlo simulation with unknown noise statistics. Simulation results show that among the various of Extended Kalman filter, Square Root Central Difference Kalman Filter has the best results in terms of speed and performance. And, the Cost-Reference Particle Filter has an advantageous feature that it does not need to know the noise distribution differently from Extended Kalman Filter, and the simulation result shows that the excellent in term of processing speed and accuracy.

  • UML은 범용의 목적으로 설계된 모델링 언어이지만 않은 도메인 영역에서 사용되고 있다. 그것은 UML을 각 도메인의 특성에 맞게 확장할 수 있는 프로파일이라는 메커니즘을 자체적으로 보유하고 있기 때문이다. UML 표준 명세에 기술되어 있는 확장 메커니즘과 프로파일은 그 자체로 매우 잘 설계된 모델이나 그대로 설계 도구에 도입하기에는 부적합한 면이 않다. 본 논문에서는 UML 기반의 설계 도구에서 프로파일을 수용할 수 있도록 확장 메커니즘 모델을 개선하고 프로파일을 정의할 수 있는 정형적인 방법들을 제시한다.

Resolution Enhancement of Spatial Spectrum by a virtually Expanded Array (가상확장 어레이를 이용한 공간스펙트럼의 분해능 향상)

  • In this paper, we propose a resolution enhancement method for estimating direction-of-arrival (DOA) of narrowband incoherent signals incident on a general array. The resolution of DOA algorithm is dependent on the aperture size of antenna array. But it is very impractical to increase the physical size of antenna array in real environment. Therefore we propose the method that increases the aperture size by virtually expanding the sensor spacing of original antenna array and then construct the steering matrix of the virtual array using the proper transformation matrix. Superior resolution capabilities achieved with this method are shown by simulation results in comparison with the standard MUSIC for incoherent signals incident on a uniform circular array.

Experimental Study of the End-plate Gap Effect on the Performance of Extended End-plate Type Splice (이음면 이격이 확장형 단부판 이음부 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This study is experimental research for the effect of gap at the end plate on the performance of extended end-plate type splice. For this research, simple beam type specimens by using extended end-plate type splice are planned. Main variables are the initial gap between end-plates, the installation of finger shim plate before the installation of high tension bolts, the final gap between end-plates, and the installation of finger shim plate after the installation of high tension bolts. The static loading tests results show that the maximum bending strength of splice is not dependent on the gap, but the vertical displacement, initial stiffness and elastic stiffness are affected by the gap. In addition to that, the possibility of brittle fracture is increased when the torque of high tension bolt is used to control the gap. Thus, careful consideration is needed in this case.

A study on non-face-to-face 5AL teaching and learning method applying extended reality (XR)

  • At a time when non-face-to-face classes are being held for a long time due to Corona (COVD-19), research on non-face-to-face teaching and learning methods is needed. Existing teaching and learning methods are limited in their application to non-face-to-face classes as they present face-to-face practical and experiential teaching methods. In this study, we present a method of utilizing the extended reality (XR: eXtended Reality) technology for the 5AL (5 Activity Learning) teaching method, which is a teaching and learning method selected by the Institute for University Education Innovation. The 5AL teaching method consists of PBL Learning, Havruta Learning, Flipped Learning, Smart Activity Learning, and Gamification Learning. In this study, a method of combining the released extended reality contents with 5AL was presented. In addition, we developed content that integrates the 5 learning methods of 5AL and confirmed the learning effect through testing.

  • 본 논문에서는 Marching Cubes(MC)의 알고리즘을 이용하여 3차원 모델을 빠르게 복원하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. MC 알고리즘은 대용량의 데이터를 복원하기 때문에 많은 수의 복셀로부터 등가면을 추출하는데 오랜 시간이 걸린다. 또한 많은 수의 삼각형 패치 생성은 빠른 렌더링을 수행할 수 없다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 등가면 추출 및 형성시간을 단축하고 형성된 등가면을 통한하는 과정을 동해 실행시간과 렌더링 시간을 단축할 수 있는 방법을 제안함으로써 MC의 문제점을 해결한다.
