  • An Asiatic lily cultivar 'Yesol' was developed in 2005 at National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA), Korea. The cross was made in 1992 between Asiatic lily 'White Bird', a white colored cultivar, and 'Connecticut King', yellow colored cultivar. Preliminarily selection was done as 'A94-11' in 1994. Multiplication and bulb formation, and characteristic tests were conducted from 1996 to 2004. The evaluation of this line was performed and named as 'Wongyo C1-27' in 2005 that was registered as 'Yesol' to the registration office of Korea Seed & Variety Service. 'Yesol' flowers at the end of June and grows average 32.4 cm. It flowers upward-facing, yellow (RHS, Y7D) with the size of flower 14.7 cm. The average petal length and width are 8.2 cm and 2.6 cm, respectively. Leaves are 4.8 cm long and 2 cm wide. The weight and size of bulb are 18.9 g and 11.8 cm, respectively. • 'Arirang', an early-flowering pure white gladiolus with purple core, was released by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 1998. The selection was derived from the cross between the progenies of the early flowering dark orange 'Arianne' and bright red domestic cultivars 'Hongkwang'. The breeding was conducted in 1993 and finally selected in 1998 after five (5) years (1994 to 1998) of experimentation. 'Arirang' is a cut flower with bright white color petals and purple core which exhibited early flowering and vigor without stem bending. These can be cultivated in areas or regions with strong winds during summer. 'Arirang' has a very firm growth form and sturdy branches which do not bend when planted in the open fields. Likewise, the plant had high tolerance to flooding and resistance hence could grow vigorously in open areas. It is a fast- growing plant which exhibits high corm production rate. 'Arirang' had a 10.5 cm wide flower and 140 cm plant height. During summer, the average number of days to flowering was recorded at 75 days of 'Arirang'. Top dressing must be conducted once or twice during corm production to enhance corm quality and quantity.

  • The white flowered 'Eorayeon 2ho' is a cultivar of Lilium ${\times}$ formolonga developed in Department of Horticultural Sciences, Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, Korea. $F_1$ hybrid LA-77 was selected from the cross between a selected selting line($S_3$) of L. longiflorum 'Lorina' and a selfing line($S_3$) of L. ${\times}$ formolonga 'Augusta' in 2000. The $F_1$ hybrid LA-77 was backcrossed by a selected line of L. ${\times}$ far molonga 'Raizan No. 1' from 2001 to 2002. 'MF-No.2' was preliminarily selected for its upward flowering habit and high plant height. The evaluation of characteristics was investigated from 2003 to 2004 in Chuncheon and Yungweol, Kangwon province. 'Eorayeon 2ho' blooms in early July at outside, with high resistance to Botrytis and showing upward flowering habit. The plant height is 132.6 cm and the percentage of seed germination is 95.3%. Mean tepal length and width are 16.0 em and 4.3 cm, respectively. The length and width of leaf is 12.3 and 3.2 cm, respectively. This seed propagating cultivar shows high plant height suitable for a cut flower.

The cross was made in 1999 and 'Noble Red' was finally selected in 2003 after investigating the characteristics such as flower Color, Fragrance, stem length, stem diameter, weight, and number of leaves for three years from 2001 to 2003. 'Noble Red', a red standard cultivar grows vigorously and has good flower shape. The major characteristics of this cultivar are $125stems/m^2/year$ in yield, 71.9 cm in length of cut flower, 6.0cm in flower diameter, 30.8 in petal number, and 9.2 days in vase life. This cultivar can be propagated by both cutting and grafting. The consumer's preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of control cultivar, 'Rote Rose'.

  • A FA intersectional hybrid lily cultivar 'Golden Center' was developed in 2008 at National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) Korea. The cross was conducted between female parent Lilium FA hybrid 'Migreen (FA97-30)' and male parent L. Asiatic hybrid 'Sanzio' by a cut style pollination method (CSM) and immature embryo rescure at Suwon in 1999. The first selection was done and the line name was tentatively given as 'FA04-24' in 2004. After in vitro multiplication, bulb-producing ability, line, growth and flowering characteristic of 'FA04-24' were evaluated from 2005 to 2007. The evaluation of characteristics and consumer preferences were surveyed at a lily flower show of NIHHS in 2008. 'Golden Center' flowers in the middle of June and grows up to 144 cm high in length. Flower blooms facing upward, with light yellow petals (RHS, GW157C). The pollen of 'Golden Center' is sterile. Year-round flowering can be done by storing the bulb under $-1.5^{\circ}C$ conditions. It is needed to control Botrytis disease in wet season.

  • An Asiatic lily cultivar 'Yeri' was developed in 2005 at National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA), Korea. The cross was made in 1993 between Asiatic lily 'Geneve', a light pink colored cultivar, and 'Montreux', deep purple colored cultivar. The first selection was done and was tentatively named as 'A95-68' in 1995. After in vitro multiplication and bulbing production, growth and flowering characteristic tests were conducted from 1996 to 2003. The evaluation of characteristics was performed and named as 'Wongyo C1-19' in 2005 that was registered as 'Yeri' to the registration office of Korea Seed & Variety Service. 'Yeri' flowered at the first of July and grew average 34.6 cm stem in length. Flowers bloomed facing upward, unspotted in petals and deep purple (RHS, RP58A). The size of flower was 13.3 cm. Mean petal length and width was 7.7 cm and 2.7 cm, respectively. Leaves were 5.1 cm long and 0.5 cm wide, respectively. The weight and size of bulb were 9.6 g and 11.7 cm, respectively. Year-round flowering can be done by storing the bulb under $-1.5^{\circ}C$ conditions. For forced cultivation, it was necessary to add calcium to the fertilizer or remove side scales to prevent leaf scorch. It was needed to control Botrytis disease in wet season.
