Seasonal and Regional Concentrations of Chemical Composition in Rainwater in Daegu Area (대구지역의 빗물 중 화학적 성분의 계절별 및 지역별 농도분포)

  • To investigate the characteristics of rainwater in Daegu area, parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, TOC, TIC and TC were analyzed on 34 samples from January to December 2005. Results revealed that higher values were measured in winter than in summer. Furthermore samples that originated from industrial and commercial areas had higher chemical concentrations and conductivity as compared with those from residential and reference areas. Seldom acid-rain occurrence was recorded(27.2%) as compared with non-acid precipitation(72.8%) incidence. Also higher organic carbon fraction(TOC) was detected(72.5%) than inorganic form(TIC)(27.5%) in terms of component ratio with TC. During frequent rainfalls, the concentration of chemicals was decreased to a degree. Conversely, lower rate of rainfall gave out higher chemical values. Thereby the improvement of air qualify in 2005 compare with 2003 report was influenced by the environment authorities' efforts to reduce air pollutions and various factors by the depression of the region's economy.

Chemical Properties of Korean Orchard Soils in Main Apple, Pear, Graph and Peach Producing Area (우리나라 사과, 배, 포도 및 복숭아 주산지 토양의 화학적 특성)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the chemical properties of orchard soils through which their soil fertilities were discriminated. Total 877 soil samples in major orchard area, i.e. from 239 apple, 369 pear, 168 grape, 101 peach orchards, were examed on the basis of temporary optimal range for each component. The levels of fertility were ranged from 3.0 to 65.2% compared to optimum fertility, suggesting that almost orchard soils contained inadequately soil components. The contents of chemical component have a tendency to decrease with soil depth gradually from surface to subsoil. This meaned that the contents of various components in subsoil could be estimated on the basis of analysis of surface soil, using the linearly fitted equations of the relationship between component in subsoil and in surface at least to which fertility were samely managed. Furthermore, even when only the content of components in 20cm depth surface soil was analyzed, it could be determined whether the amount of each component in the surface soil is surplus or deficient.

  • 본 연구는 가축분뇨를 퇴비화 하는 과정에서 흔히 사용되는 수분조절제인 톱밥, 왕겨 등의 가격적 부담으로 인해 좀 더 가격이 저렴한 수분조절제들의 성분을 비교 분석하여 어떤 차이가 있는지 확인하기 위하여 실시되었다. 이를 위해 6가지 수분조절제를 토대로 유도결합플라즈마분광계 장비를 이용하여 화학적 분석, 인장시험기를 이용하여 물리적 분석을 하였다. 화학적 분석을 통해 수분조절제 내 함유되어 있는 성분들을 분석하였으며 물리적 분석을 통해 중량, 함수율, 흡수율, 인장강도 등을 측정하였다. 화학적으로 분석을 했을 시 K, Cd, Pb, Ni, Zn, Cu, Cr, As 등을 측정을 하였으며 앞서 분석했던 각각의 성분들은 농촌진흥청에 명시되어 있는 유해성분의 최대량보다 대부분 적게 측정이 되었다. 물리적으로 분석을 했을 시, 각 수분조절제의 함수율은 최소 10.29%에서 최대 16.07%까지 측정이 되었다. 전단강도는 기존 상태가 가장 높게 측정이 되었으며 다음으로 건조상태 흡수상태로 측정이 되었다. 일반적으로 사용하기에는 흡수율이 가장 높은 우드 브리켓-1이 가장 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

Comarison of Major Constituents in Acanthopanax Taxa and Variety Cheongsong in Korea by GC-MS (GC-MS에 의한 오갈피나무 분류군과 청송 변종의 주요 성분 비교)

  • Species of genus Acanthopanax(Araliaceae) are long-lived trees primarily distributed throughout East Asia. These species are regarded as medically and ecologically important in Korea. A variety of Cheongsong in Korea is one of these cultivated varieties, however this variety is much longer(>100 years) than those of other cultivated groups. The components of variety of Acanthopanax in Cheongsong were analyzed for the first time and were compared to those of all Acanthopanax taxa in Korea. Nineteen components were specific to variety in Cheongsong. The main components of this variety were $\beta$-caryophyllene, hexadecanoic acid and ethyl stearate. Although some components are differ from each other, variety Cheongsong was similar to A. senticosus at phonetic topology with content of the chemicals, In addition, six species of genus Acanthopanax were investigated to compare the major chemical components by GC-MS.

  • A combined spectrometer which could function as either the absorption spectrometer or the reflectance spectrometer was built and used for the comparison of the applicabilities of the two types of spectrometers. According to the results the sensitivity of the reflectance spectrometry was found to be useful for the quantitative analysis when the concentration of the analyte was too low or the molar absorptivity of the analyte was too small for one to perform the quantitative analysis using the absorption spectrometry.

Chemical Characterization of Commercial Vinegars (식초의 종류별 화학성분의 특징)

  • Fourty-two commercial vinegars were analyzed for their non-volatile organic acids, free sugars. amino acids, and volatile compounds. A study was made to characterize commercial vinegars chemically into three kinds of vinegars such as spirit, cider, and brown rice vinegars. Sixteen chemical components were significantly effective for the chemical characterization of commercial vinegars by stepwise discriminant analysis. Those were malic, succinic and lactic acids from the non-volatile organic acids; fructose and glucose from the free sugars; lysine, serine, leucine, valine and alanine from the amino acids; 1-hexanol, acetaldehyde, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-methylpropanoic acid, isopropyl butanoate and ethanol from the volatile compounds. Six components including malic acid, lysine, succinic acid, glucose, lactic acid and 1-hexanol were the most significant contributors to the differentiation of commercial vinegars into spirit, cider, and brown rice vinegars. In particular, cider vinegars could be characterized to be abundant in amounts of malic acid and 1-hexanol, whereas brown rice vinegars in amounts of lysine and lactic acid compared to spirit vinegars.

  • This study was performed by chemical analysis and metallographic observation. Chemical properties were analized by ICP, XRD and SEM-EDS and slag structures were observed by microscope and SEM. Total Fe amounts in A, C area of slag can be observed $39\~45\%$ by chemical analysis results. It was average of acient times. CaO was $3\~8\%$. It's not plentiful but we think that was artificial. Ti was found in A area a little, and Ti, V were found in C area so much. The compounds, as if Fayalite, Wustite, Magnetite, Ilmenite, Pseudo-brookite, Ulvospinel, Forsterite, Fephroite, Olivine were observed in the result XRD. These structures were also observed in microscope and SEM image. Therefore, The furnance of A area usually used an iron mine, An Iron furnance of C area considered it which refined using a raw iron mine and a raw iron sand.

  • It was found that the absorbent mixed with 2-aminoethanol and others has been applied to remove them via chemical neutralization. The absorbent of natural second metabolites was achieved by a removal efficiency of 20~30% by itself depending on treatment conditions, but the complex absorbent mixed with 0.2% amine chemical provides the removal efficiency of over 98%. Optimal removal efficiencies have been examined against two major parameters of the temperature and pH to remove ammonia and hydrogen sulfide gases. The chemical analysis was also performed to analyze the composition of an essential oil by GC-MS. The monoterpenes in an essential oil reacted with odorous compounds by neutralization and their reaction mechanism was partially elucidated.

Component Analysis of Softwood Vinegar (침엽수 목초액의 성분분석)

  • To analyze chemical compositions of softwood vinegar prepared with continuous carbonized kiln, the chemical compositions were analyzed by GC-MS spectrometry. The results were summarized as follow : 1. The amounts of methylalcohol and acetic acid and of vinegar were 0.12% and 0.8% respectively, and acidity was 0.85 2. Perfume components of vinegar were frufual, 5-meayl-2-furancarboxyaldehyde, 2,3-pentanedione, 2-butanol, 2,3-dihydrofuran, 1-(2-furanyl)-etanone, benzaldehyde, 2-furan carboxyaldehyde and acetic acid. 3 Vinegar prepared from softwood, so that murk amount of guaiacyl compound and phenol derivetives are produced from lignin and extractives was analγzed. 4 The yield of 4-methyl-di-tert-butylphenol was the highest in the nutural and carbonyl and acetic acid in the acid fractions, 3-ethylpentane in the basic fraction, and guaiacol in the phenolic fraction.
