우리나라 건기에 해당하는 봄철에는 산불화재에 예방에 주의해야 한다. 그러나 안타깝게도 이 시기에는 다양한 언론매체를 통하여 산불화재 피해에 대한 소식을 전해 들어야만 하는 것이 사실이다. 2022년 울진군에서 발생한 산불화재는 국내에서 2000년 동해안 산불에 이어 역대 2번째로 피해 규모가 큰 산불화재이다. 산불화재은 건축화재와 달리 피해면적에 광범위하기에 더욱 주의를 기울여야만 하며, 언론매체를 통한 피해 규모를 살펴보면 산불의 위험성을 증대하는 것처럼 느껴진다. 본 연구에서는 국가화재통계를 이용하여 국내에서 발생하는 산불화재의 발생빈도와 발화장소에 대하여 살펴보았다. 이를 통하여 대규모 산불화재로 인한 피해를 예방하기 위한 방안으로서 화재안전대책 우선순위를 도출하고자 하였다.

최근 통계자료에 따르면, 매년 화재 발생 건수와 이로 인한 피해가 증가하는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 여러 공공 데이터를 분석하여 각 지역별 특성이나 환경적 요인에 따른 화재의 원인을 분석해고보가 한다. 분석을 위하여 화재 발생 건수, 시도별 공장 수와 인구수, 계절별 화재 발생수, 장소별 화재 요인에 대한 각각의 공공 데이터를 활용하였다. 분석 결과 지역별 공장 수와 비례하지않은 화재 발생 건수나, 대중적으로 생각하는 겨울철 가장 많은 화재의 발생보다 봄철에 더 많은 화재가 발생되었던 통계 결과와 같이 각 지역적인 특성이나 발화요인에 따라 화재 발생률에 미치는 영향은 다르게 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

The following matters were confirmed through the analysis of property losses due to fires in Korea, the U.S., and Japan. 1. Korean statistics on property losses are not the most detailed of the three centuries, and they have a lot of limitations to analyze the actual condition of property losses due to fires. 2. The percentage which takes up property losses due to fires in GDP is on the decrease in the U.S. and Japan, but increase in Korea. In addition, from 1994, it has occupied almost the same rate in Korean ad compared with the U.S. and Japan. 3. When inflation are taken into consideration, property losses due to fires in the U.S. and Japan have decreased, but in Korea, they have increased except for the recent 2 years.
