Influence of Inert Gas on the Configuration Characteristics of Premixed Turbulent Propagating Flames of Hydrogen Mixtures (수소 예혼합 난류전파화염의 화염형상 특성에 미치는 불활성 가스의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the influence of inert gas on the configuration characteristics of premixed turbulent propagating flames of hydrogen mixtures. Inert gas is changed to $N_2$, Ar, $CO_2$ and He keeping the laminar burning velocity of mixtures nearly the same value. A laser tomography technique was used to obtain the flame shape, and quantitative analyses were performed. The result shows that in the wrinkled laminar flame region, the surface area of turbulent flame is slightly dependent on the equivalence ratio and the kind of inert gas. It is also shown the region of convex part of flame toward the unburned gas is greater than that of toward the burned gas regardless of the kind of inert gas.

  • The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of the effect of a flow motion on the flame development by means of an optically-accessible constant-volume combustion chamber and the visualization technique of a combustion flame. At first, the characteristics of a flame propagation are investigated in the combustion field of the two kinds of flow conditions such as a quiescent and a flowing condition, and methane-air mixture is used as fuel. Then the same investigation is performed in two flow configurations : bulk flow motion type and turbulence generating type. In this study, the combustion phenomena are analyzed by measuring the combustion pressure, flame propagation speed, mean velocity, turbulent intensity, and mass fraction burned.

A Study on the Flame Propagation Velocity of Methyl Alcohol (메틸알콜의 화염전파속도에 관한 연구)

  • The flame propagation velocity and the flame arrival time of methyl alcohol, which is widely used as a material of paint industry and organic synthesis, d mixing solvent, and an analytical reagent, were examined at different temperatures and concentrations. It was found that the smaller the vessel size, the easier and faster the combustion. The maximum combustion velocity was 200 cm/sec in the small vessel at $30^{\circ}C$. The flame arrival time was determined to be longer with larger vessels. and shorter with higher concentrations.

  • An experimental study of the combustion characteristics according to the equivalence ratio of hydrocarbon fuel/air premixture excited by ultrasonic standing wave are presented. The image of the propagating flame was acquired using a high-speed camera, and the combustion characteristics of each fuel were closely observed through image processing. it was conformed that ultrasonic standing wave has been found to stimulate the combustion reaction in the stoichiometric ratio.

  • 우리나라는 건축물 화재 및 지진으로 인한 화재의 위험성이 증가해 가면서 시가지 화재에 대한 위험성이 점차 늘어나고 있다. 하지만 이에 대한 대응책은 미비한 실정이다. 반면 일본의 경우는 과거의 화재사례를 토대로 시가지 화재에 대한 대응책 및 시뮬레이션 개발이 수행되었으며 이를 통해 각 지구의 화재위험성을 평가하여 대책을 마련하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 시가지 화재 시뮬레이션의 화염전파 모델에 관하여 소개함으로서 향후국내의 시뮬레이션 개발에 있어서 기본적인 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • An experimental and numerical study of aerodynamic charateristics of KSR-III and jet impingement on a deflector during launch has been conducted. To investigate aerodynamic characteristics of KSR-III configuration, wind tunnel tests using 6.4% scale model were performed by 4x4 feet ADD trisonic wind tunnel on the Mach number range of 0.4~3.8. Solutions of Three dimensional Euler equations were also obtained and compared with test result. For the study of KSR-III jet impingement flowfield on a deflector during launch operation, unsteady computation using CFD-FASTRAN was performed.

  • In order to investigate the effects of three different electrostatic discharge energies on gas explosions, a high-speed PIV system has been applied. The present study paid attention to the flame initiation by the gas explosions and its propagation at the existence of an obstacle within a chamber. Three different ignition energies such as 0.56 mJ, 52.87 mJ and 112.5 mJ were used. It is found that the ignition kernel is bent by the electrostatic discharge during the flame initiation. Tangential velocities of unburnt mixture ahead of initially propagating flame fronts are increased with increasing ignition energy, which makes the flame propagation faster before it reaches the obstacle. Although the flame speed was found to be less sensitive to the ignition energies, the flame developments were different. The effects of the energies on explosion pressures were also discussed.

  • 본 고에서는 녹킹현상과 녹킹 발생의 결과, 그리고 녹킹과 연료와의 관계등에 대해 개략적으로 설명하려 한다. 녹킹 발생 유무는 흡입공기상태, 스로틀 열림정도, 연소실 형상, 스파크 점화시기, 화염 전파속도 및 연료의 자연 발화 특성에 관계되며 화염 전파속도와 end-gas에 있는 연로의 반응속도와의 경쟁이라 볼수 있다. 연료의 녹킹 발생에 대한 저항성을 나탄내는 척도가 옥탄가이며 옥탄가가 높을 수록 자연 발화하기 어려우므로 녹킹이 잘 일어나지 않는다.

  • 우리나라는 최근 건축물 화재 및 시장화재가 지속적으로 증가해 왔다. 이 중 시장화재는 일반적인 화재와 달리 대형화재로 확대될 위험성이 높다. 본 연구에서는 종로구 신진시장 화재사례를 중심으로 시장화재 전파과정을 분석한 결과 지붕을 통한 화염전파가 주된 확대원인인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 향후 이러한 전파과정을 고려한 화재위험성평가수법의 개발이 필요하다고 판단된다.

연소현상의 가시화

  • 연소현상의 가시화를 위한 몇 가지 레이저 진단기법의 응용 예를 소개한다. 이에는 유동 가시화를 위한 반응성 Mie 산란, 주화학종의 계측을 위한 Rayleigh 및 Raman 산란, 미소화학종 계측을 위한 레이저유도 형광법, 온도계측을 위한coherent anti-Stokes Raman 산란법 및 매연계측을 위한 광 소멸/산란법 등이 포함된다. 이러한 기법들이 확산화염, 층류 및 난류 부상 화염, 비예혼합 와도 내의 화염전파, 매연생성 등의 연구에 적용되어 물리적 메커니즘을 이해하는데 유용하게 적용된 사례를 보고한다.
