The Spatial Pattern of Freight Flows of Automobile in the Capital Region, Korea (수도권지역 자동차 화물유동의 공간적 패턴)

  • This study is an attempt to grasp the spatial patterns and characteristics in the freight flows based on freight quantity data in 1997. The spatial background for the study is the Capital Region, which plays an important role in regional economics and industrial development. The methodology in the research used factor analysis to produce a functional region. The study selected three categories of freight that account for more than 60 percent of freight flows, chemical industrial goods, light industrial goods, and metal machinery industrial goods. The target analysis unit is divided into 36 zones. The common characteristic of the three categories is that they are concentrated at one specific region than are dispersed regionally. And in particular, the remarkable feature is that the central region of the study is Seoul. Usually the eminent regions of nows were made where environment of distribution facilities is good but these were made in a less than good environment. I think a reason is that facilities were uneven distribution.

  • Plan of Logistics facility and Management of Freight trucks need for Efficient Improvement of Urban Goods Movement. For this, it need to clear flow pattern of Freight volumes and Freight trucks on urban space. Therefor, The purpose of this study is to clear space flow pattern of Freight volumes and Freight trucks as base data for Plan of Urban Goods Movement on Incheon city. Incheon city is selected because it is at sea & air ports and carries out various Activity of Urban Goods Movement. As the result of this study, it understands and analyzes Characteristic on flow pattern of Freight volumes and Freight trucks. Through this study, we'll expect that this results could be contributed in the understand of actual conditions of Freight volume and freight trucks and the basic data for Improvement of urban goods movement and the management policy of freight trucks in urban goods movement.

EDISON-CFD를 활용한 대형 트럭 디플렉터 형상에 따른 항력 감소 효과에 관한 연구

  • 대형 화물 트럭(heavy-duty truck)은 화물 적재에 용이하지만, 공기역학적으로 불리한 형상을 가진다. 이러한 단점을 극복하고자 대형 화물 트럭에는 공기저항력(aerodynamic drag)을 줄일 수 있는 여러 가지 장치가 달려있다. 본 논문에서는 디플렉터(deflector) 형상이 항력 감소에 어떠한 영향을 주며, 평판 형태와 굴곡진 형태의 디플렉터 형상에 대한 항력 계수 비교를 EDISON-CFD를 활용하여 비교하였다. 해석 결과, 측풍(side-wind)의 영향을 무시하며 차량 속도 95 km/h로 등속을 유지하는 조건에서 평판 형태의 Model 1과 바깥으로 굴곡진 Model 2에서 전체 항력 계수가 낮게 나타났다.

A Convergent Investigation on the Air flow in Driving According to a Cargo Container and the Wind Deflector (트럭 화물칸 및 윈드 디플렉터에 따른 운행중 공기흐름에 대한 융합 연구)

  • In this study, the freight vehicles were modelled and the flow analysis on the existence or non-existence of a cargo container and the wind deflector were carried out. Based on the driving speed of 100 km/hr, at all models A, B and C, the highest flow rate was shown between 58 m/s and 59 m/s at the top of the model shape. All models A, B and C showed the highest pressure of air resistance between 652Pa and 671Pa at the front of the model geometry. The maximum pressure of model A is considered to be the smallest, with the least flow resistance to speed compared to models B and C. Therefore, it can be seen that model A has an advantageous condition for air resistance in terms of fuel costs. Unlike model B which causes the rapid flow resistance at the cargo compartment, model C can be found to flow a little more smoothly on the streamlined wind deflector. So, the flow air at a streamlined shape is considered to be more advantageous in terms of air resistance than at angular shape. By applying the research analysis result on the air flow in driving according to a cargo container and the wind deflector, it is seen that this study is adequate at the practical efficient design and aesthetic convergence.

The Process of Development and the Change of Freight Flows in the Influence Areas of pyeongtaek and Dangjin Port, Korea (평택.당진항의 항만발달과 화물유동에 의한 항세권 변화)

  • This study seeks to clarify the process of development and the change of freight flows in the influence areas of Pyeongtaek and Dangjin Port, which opened lately. The results of analysis are as follows: from development period to growth period, the relation between the development of the port and the change of the hinterland and foreland shows no great change and the freight concentration rates of the first hinterland and foreland decreased, but those of periphery region increased. While the composition rate of import and export freight of vehicle, fuel and energy decreased, the rate of imported freights (iron or steel, other textile articles, rag and organic compounds) and exported freight (manufacture of basic metals) increased. The reasons for such changes in influence areas of port were the increase of export to China and the U.S.A. in the development period, the increase of import from China in the growth period and the diversification of nations from which fuel and energy were imported.

Measuring Complementarities between Cities in the Korean Southeastern Region : A Network City Approach (영남권 도시들 간의 상보성 측정에 관한 연구: 네트워크 도시 접근)

  • This study attempts to estimate the complementarity between 21 cities in the Korean Southeastern Region using data on the network time distance and the volume of flow between the cities. Four types of flows recognized are people, commodities, information and finance. The first two types of flows are thought to be made on the transportation network while the last two are on the communication network. For the purpose of the study, the expected volumes of flows between cities are first estimated using the gravity-based regression and doubly-constrained entropy maximization models. These baseline volumes are then subtracted from the observed volumes of flows (of people and commodities) or the estimated volumes of flows (of information and finance) in order to identify positive differences or complementarities. The result shows that these four types of complementarity flows form distinctive urban networks in terms of spatial pattern and urban hierarchy. This suggests that more customized strategies to different types of complementarity are recommended to properly address the issues related to network infrastructure provision in the pursuit of the network city model in the region.

  • This study aims to grasp the hierarchy in the influence areas of port by the intensity of freight shipments and to seek the activating methods for the increase of export and import volumes of Pyeongtaek and Dangjin port. Pyeongtaek and Dangjin port whose major import and export freights are natural gas and automobile, were constructed for the increasing trade with People's Republic of China. This port is expanding the influence in the hinterland and foreland of the port, but core influence area of Pyeongtaek and Dangjin port is rich in trade volume within the radius of 70km. To become international as well as national ports, Pyeongtaek and Dangjin is required to execute the active policy to receive many-sideness of sea route and the recognition of freight holders, forwarders and ship companies in many regions.

A Study on the Hydriding and Dehydriding Kinetics of a Mechanically-Alloyed Mg-25wt.%Ni Mixture (기계적 합금처리된 Mg-25wt.%Ni 혼합물의 수소화물 형성 및 분해에 대한 반응속도론적 연구)

  • The hydriding and dehydriding kinetics were studied for a Mg-25wt.%Ni mixture which has the most excellent hydrogen-storage characteristics among many mechanically-alloyed mixtures. The hydriding and dehydriding rates were measured and the rate-controlling steps were determined by comparing the hydriding and dehydriding rates with the theoretical rate equations. The rate-controlling step in the hydriding reaction is the Knudsen flow and the ordinary gaseous diffusion of hydrogen molecules through interparticle channels, cracks, etc. in the various ranges of weight percentage of absorbed hydrogen $H_a$ below $H_a$=4.0. In the $H_a$ range 4.0 < $H_a{\leq}4.25$, the diffusion of hydrogen atoms through the growing hydride layer is considered the rate-controlling step. The rate-controlling step in the dehydriding reaction is the Knudsen flow and the ordinary gaseous diffusion of hydrogen molecules for all the ranges of weight percentage of desorbed hydrogen $H_d$.

Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis of Membrane Type LNG CCS Experiencing the Sloshing Impact by Impinging Jet Model (멤브레인형 LNG 화물창의 강도평가를 위해 적용된 분사모델을 이용한 유체구조 연성해석에 관한 연구)

  • The reliable sloshing assessment methods for LNG CCS(cargo containment system) are important to satisfy the structural strength of the systems. Multiphase fluid flow of LNG and Gas Compressibility may have a large effect on excited pressures and structural response. Impinging jet model has been introduced to simulate the impact of the LNG sloshing and analyze structural response of LNG CCS as a practical FSI(fluid structure interaction) method. The practical method based on fluid structure interaction analysis is employed in order to evaluate the structural strength in actual scale for Mark III CCS. The numerical model is based on an Euler model that employs the CVFEM(control volume based finite element method). It includes the particle motion of gas to simulate not only the interphase interaction between LNG liquid and gas and the impact load on the LNG insulation box. The analysis results by proposed method are evaluated and discussed for an effectiveness of FSI analysis method.
