Intra Prediction Method for Depth Picture Using CNN and Attention Mechanism (CNN과 Attention을 통한 깊이 화면 내 예측 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose an intra prediction method for depth picture using CNN and Attention mechanism. The proposed method allows each pixel in a block to predict to select pixels among reference area. Spatial features in the vertical and horizontal directions for reference pixels are extracted from the top and left areas adjacent to the block, respectively, through a CNN layer. The two spatial features are merged into the feature direction and the spatial direction to predict features for the prediction block and reference pixels, respectively. the correlation between the prediction block and the reference pixel is predicted through attention mechanism. The predicted correlations are restored to the pixel domain through CNN layers to predict the pixels in the block. The average prediction error of intra prediction is reduced by 5.8% when the proposed method is added to VVC intra modes.

  • 날이 갈수록 빨라지는 IT분야의 발달로 최근 정보 통신망, 핸드폰, 컴퓨터 등의 발달과 함께 시간과 장소에 상관없이 빠르게 동영상 수요가 급증 하고 있다. 급증하고 있는 동영상 수요에 맞춰 고품질의 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 압축 부호화 기술이 필수적이다. 이와 같은 흐름에 따라 표준화 기관인 ITU-T, ISO/IEC는 2013년 초, 최신 압축 부호화 기술인 HEVC를 제정하였다. HEVC에서는 이전 표준과 비교하여 다양한 부호화 기술이 포함되었는데 그 중 화면 내 예측 기술에서는 35가지 모드 중에서 최적의 모드를 결정하여 예측 블록을 더욱 정밀하게 생성한다. 이때, 색차 성분의 화면 내 예측 모드는 휘도 성분의 예측 모드와는 달리, 고정된 5개의 모드만 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 5개 모드의 번호를 통계적 특성을 이용하여 새롭게 모드 번호를 할당하는 실험을 수행하고 결과를 분석한 후, 향후 연구 방향을 제시한다.

  • 기존 RADAR 기반의 VTS에 AIS를 연계 집약하면서 예측 불가능한 데이터 전송률에도 동일선박으로부터의 AIS 및 RADAR 데이터는 상관관계를 유지하면서 물표에 대한 Tracking이 지속적으로 이루어져야 하지만 AIS 신호 Lost시 RADAR Tracking 자동 전환이 안 되는 경우가 많이 발생하고 있다. 또한 3개의 VTS 모니터 화면에 각각 다른 Scale과 다른 관제구역이 디스플레이 됨으로써 특히 모니터 가장자리 부근의 관제구역은 사각지대로 관제사의 집중도가 떨어질 수밖에 없다. 이러한 문제점들은 관제사의 Traffic Image구성 및 Situational Awareness를 방해하는 요소로 작용하며 사고의 개연성을 높이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 VTS 모니터상의 화면 재구성 방법을 통해서 관제사의 SA를 돕고, AIS-RADAR Tracking 알고리즘 보완을 통한 Target Tracking의 안정성을 확보하고, 교육 훈련을 통해서 AIS특성과 Error현상에 대한 관제사들이 충분히 이해하도록 하여 관제업무의 향상을 기하는 방안을 제시하였다.

Corelation of Television Drama's Rating and Image Production Techniques - Mainly on the Home Dramas - (TV 드라마의 시청률과 영상제작기법의 상관성 - 홈드라마를 중심으로 -)

  • Under the changing circumstances of broadcasting, this study aims at the corelation of television drama's rating and television image production techniques, analyzing TV image production techniques and TV rating of drama, the highest rating genre. For this research, 6 dramas were selected as samples except the dramas about history and violence on the basis of the TNS media korea's top 100 of the year 2007. This study analyzed camerawork, shot size, shot duration and scene duration with the contents of replay and manuscript viewing of broadcasting companys' homepages. As the result of the analysis of corelation, TV rating is inverse proportionate to multiple camerawork and shot average duration with a very close relationship, showing no relationship with other variables. The result of this study shows that multiple cameraworks and long durated shots should be avoided for higher TV rating.

  • Major purpose of this study is to explore effect of presentation modalities of Television and print on children's and adult's recall. So An experiment was conducted by comparing children's and adults' recall of information stories presented in three different modalities: "television moving Image1(auditory-visual redundancy)", "television moving Image2(auditory-visual redundancy)" and "print text". Results indicated that children remembered more infornation from the television moving Image than from print versions regardless of auditory-visual redundancy. But for the adults advantage of television was only found for information that had been accompanied by redundant pictures in television moving Image, providing support for the dual-coding hypothesis.

Intra Prediction Offset Compensation for Improving Video Coding Efficiency (영상 부호화 효율 향상을 위한 화면내 예측 오프셋 보상)

  • In this paper, an intra prediction offset compensation method is proposed to improve intra prediction in H.264/AVC. In H.264/AVC, intra prediction based on various directions improves the coding efficiency by removing spatial correlation between neighboring blocks. In details, neighboring pixels in reconstructed block can be used as intra reference block for the current block to be coded when intra prediction method is used. In order to reduce further the prediction error of the intra reference block, the proposed method introduces an intra prediction offset which is determined in the sense of the rate-distortion optimization and is added to the conventional intra prediction block. Besides the intra prediction offset compensation, the coefficient thresholding method which is used for inter coding in JM 11.0, is used for chroma component in intra block, which leads the improvement of the luma coding efficiency of the proposed method. In experiments, we show that the proposed method achieves average 2.45% in High Profile condition and maximum 4.41% of bitrate reduction relative to JM 11.0.

Error Concealment Techniques for Image Quality Improvement of Digital TV (디지털 TV 화질 개선을 위한 전송 오류 은폐 기법)

  • Compressed bitstreams generated by an MPEG-2 video encoder (or digital TV picture transmission are quite sensitive to channel errors. Due to the coding structure of the MPEG-2 video compression algorithm, a single bit error can affect not only the current Picture frame but also succeeding frames. Error concealment algorithms attempt to repair damaged portions of the picture by exploiting spatial and temporal redundancies in the correctly received and reconstructed video frames. In this paper, we analyze the effect of channel errors in MPEG-2 video bitstreams and estimate lost motion vectors by exploiting temporal redundancies in the video frames. Motion vectors can be estimated from the vertically adjacent extended region of lost macroblocks. Finally, we conceal the damaged macroblocks by compensating the displacement with the estimated motion vectors. Simulation results demonstrate that both the weighted sum algorithm and the extension matching algorithm achieve good performance in terms of PSNR values as well as subjective image quality.

Intra MB Prediction Mode Decision Method for Fast MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC Transcoding (고속 MPEG-2-H.264/AVC 변 환부호화를 위한 화면내 MB 예측 모드 결정 기법)

  • Since the high quality digital TV systems are broadly deployed in the market, the digital video contents will be edited and distributed in MPEG-2 MP@HL fonnat. Due to its impressive coding efficiency, the H.264/AVC codec has rapidly replaced the MPEG-4 SP codec for mobile digital video terminal with low quality. For the bro ad distribution of digitial video contents produced in MPEG-2 format, the MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC transcoding is highly necessary nowadays. In this paper, we propose a fast intra MB prediction mode decision method to reduce the computational complexity in the transcoding, which is the main bottleneck in the transcoders. The proposed method is based on the several relationships such as DCT coefficients and edge orientation, correlation between prediction directions in the $Intra16{\times}16$ and $Intra4{\times}4$ modes, correlation between edge-orientations of luminance an d chrominance components. The simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce the computational complexity upto 70% and 40%, compared with the cascaded transcoder and the well-known fast intraframe transc oder, respectively.

New Intra Coding Scheme for Improving Video Coding Efficiency (영상 부호화 효율을 위한 새로운 화면 내 부호화 방법)

  • H.264/AVC significantly outperforms the previous video coding standards with many new coding tools. Among these tools, several intra-block coding tools can particularly improve coding efficiency. For intra prediction, H.264/AVC supports most probable mode in the entropy coding process to reduce syntax elements indicating intra prediction modes and most probable mode selection ratio is very high. Also, in general, natural images and videos have many homogeneous regions whose high correlation with neighbouring blocks. In this paper, we propose intra prediction mode SKIP mode using decoder-side prediction to improve the coding efficiency. The proposed method is determined the optimal prediction mode using only neighbouring block's information and coded on the basis of the conventional prediction/transform coding. And the prediction modes are not send to decoder at all. Skipped intra prediction mode is determined by decoder. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves coding gains of 1.40% for common intermediate format(CIF), 3.24% for 720p sequences against the H.264/AVC JM 17.0 reference software.

Synchronous Web Browser Fragmentation with Web 2.0 Technologies (웹 2.0 기반 동기식 웹 브라우저 화면 분할)

  • 인터넷을 통한 검색은 사용자가 찾으려는 정보를 일반적으로 브라우저를 통해 표현해주고 있다. 본 연구서는 웹 사용자에게 기존의 브라우저가 아닌 화면 분할을 통하여 인터넷 사용의 효율을 높이는 방식을 제공하였다. 그 중에 WEB 2.0의 Ajax를 사용하여 웹 페이지를 분할 후 특정 브라우저와 상관없이 복수 페이지의 접근을 가능하게 하고 검색의 효율성을 높이기 위해 하나의 브라우저에서 서로 다른 검색엔진의 Open API가 작동되도록 하였다. 한번의 키워드 입력과 한번의 클릭으로 검색엔진 마다 방문 할 필요없이 하나의 브라우저에서 각각의 검색 결과를 사용자에게 제공해 주도록 하여 검색 시간을 감축하고, 결과를 비교 분석하므로 웹 서핑의 효율성을 높여주는 시스템을 구현하였고 이를 입증하였다.
