Design of the Finite Schematic Eye with GRIN Crystalline Lens Considering Iris Eccentricity (홍채 편심을 고려한 GRIN 수정체를 갖는 정밀모형안 설계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design the finite model eye with GRIN lens similar to actual eye, which considered the effect of iris eccentricity on eyes. Methods: By using the finite model eye with Radial GRIN and Spherical GRIN, which were designed previously, the location of iris was eccentrically located by 0.5 mm in the direction of nose to show the same eye as actual one. For ray trace and design, Code V program of Optical Research Associates (ORA) was adopted. Results: Designed model eye was compared to actual eye depending on iris eccentricity and the model eye which showed reduced value was corrected according to actual eye to design the finite model eye. Conclusions: Ocular optical systems considered the point that iris was a rotational asymmetry and designed the finite model eye with GRIN lens, which was similar to actual eye, by considering the effect of iris eccentricity on eye.

A Case of Isolated Traumatic Aniridia in a Pseudophakic Eye (위수정체안에서 발생한 외상무홍채증 1예)

  • Purpose: We report a rare case of isolated traumatic aniridia in a pseudophakic eye. Case summary: A 69-year-old female came to our emergency department complaining of right eye pain and visual disturbance after trauma due to fall on the stairs. Five years earlier she had undergone an uncomplicated right sutureless phacoemulsification cataract extraction through a 2.2 mm temporal clear corneal incision, followed by insertion of a folding intracapsular intraocular lens. Total iris expulsion occurred through the cataract incision without extension of the wound or disruption of the posterior capsule or intraocular lens. Conclusions: We report a rare case of isolated traumatic aniridia in a pseudophakic eye, which has not been reported in the Republic of Korea.

Optical Performance Analysis of the Eye which it Follows in Iris Eccentricity (홍채 편심에 따른 눈의 광학적 성능 분석)

  • Purpose: We are to analyze optically how to affect the eye related with movement of the iris. Methods: Using the schematic eye to have the crystalline lens of the radial GRIN and the spherical GRIN forms that come to be planned in existing, the iris centre was moved 0.5 mm with nasal direction in order to be identical with the real eye. Also, considering that the iris centre move according to increase of the pupil size, the iris centre was moved 0.4 mm with temporal direction to analyze the optical performance change of the eye respectively. Results: Because of decrease in the spherical aberration, the schematic eye with nasal direction 0.5 mm eccentricity of the iris showed a different consequence plentifully compared with the performance of the real eye. Besides, the schematic eye with temporal direction 0.4 mm eccentricity of the iris showed that the spherical aberration somewhat increased. Conclusions: In case of design of the schematic eye with the similar real eye performance which the iris centre was moved 0.5 mm with nasal direction, we need to research about aspheric coefficient of optical constants of each refracting surface considering the performance change of a spherical aberration, a peripheral power error and astigmatism etc, owing to change of the real eye hence to be affected by the iris movement.

다중 생체인식 전용 칩셋 설계

  • 임베디드 시스템 환경에서 실시간으로 얼굴, 그리고 홍채, 지문 등의 생체인식을 위한 시스템 구현을 위해서는 전용의 칩셋이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 생체인식 알고리즘을 소프트웨어로 구현 및 검증한 후 임베디드 시스템에서 성능을 시험하여 실시간 처리를 어렵게 하는 각 생체인식 알고리즘의 많은 계산량을 요구하는 부분을 선별하여 하드웨어로 구현하도록 설계하였다. 따라서 각 생체인식 알고리즘은 소프트웨어와 하드웨어 부분으로 나누어져 구현되며, 이들의 효율적인 연동에 의해 다중 생체인식 시스템의 실시간 처리는 가능하게 된다. 칩셋으로 구현되는 부분은 얼굴인식의 얼굴 검출을 위한 Adaboost 알고리즘이 구현되며, 홍채인식인 경우 홍채의 외부/내부 경계 구하기 및 극좌표 알고리즘이 구현되고, 지문인식의 경우에는 지문 맵 정보 도출 알고리즘 부분이 구현된다.

A Case Report of Hyperhidrosis with Sympathicotonia Detected by Iris Diagnosis (홍채로 진단한 교감항진 국소다한증 치험례)

  • Objective: The aim of this case study was to describe a case of iris diagnosis of primary hyperhidrosis and the use of Korean medicine. Methods: A patient with symptoms of hyperhidrosis was diagnosed as having Taeeumin after assessment using the four basic Korean diagnostic methods. Iris diagnosis was used for further examination. The images obtained showed a remarkably defined collarette and increased nerve rings, which suggested an overactive sympathetic nerve system. Under the diagnosis of Taeeum, a Korean herbal medicine was prescribed with additional herbs to help alleviate the hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. Results: The patient had been receiving treatment for hyperhidrosis for >30 years, with various medical attempts to relieve her symptoms, which were ineffective. She showed signs of improvement from day 4 into the treatment, and 80% of her symptoms were improved after completing a 6-week treatment course. Conclusion: The herbal medicine prescribed to the patient proved effective for reducing her chronic symptoms that had been unresponsive to previous medical treatments.
