Geochemical weathering properties of marine terrace sediment at Gangneung-Donghae area, South Korea (강릉-동해에 분포하는 해안단구 퇴적물의 지화학적 풍화 특성)

  • Several flights of marine terraces were developed along the Eastern coast of Korea (Gangneung-Donghae). Various dating techniques have been applied to determine the age of these terraces, with a view to better understand the regional uplift history. In this study, we compare the major element compositions of the terrace deposits and modern beach sediments to estimate the relative formation age of these terraces. We observed a discernible difference in major element geochemistry between modern beach sediments and various elevated terrace deposit (i.e. palaeobeach sediments). In general, weathering properties of marine terrace sediments are expected to be affected by the formation ages of terraces, and here, we confirm that the chemical composition are indicative of the relative age of the terraces in this region.

  • This study restores onshore paleo-shoreline records and establishes the nature and strain rate of neotectonism by investigating the existence and formative age of paleo-coastal sediments emerged around Sacheon-si in the Southern part of the Korean peninsula. As a result, paleo-sand bars representing 5m of the paleo-shoreline from high tide level are formed in Sacheon-si, and the formation age of these is confirmed as MIS 5c at approximately 100,000 year BP through rock surface luminescence dating to rounded gravels in paleo-sand bars. Although it is difficult to establish the uplift rate of crust precisely due to incomplete restoration of sea level records during the last interglacial stage, the uplift rate along the Southern coast of the peninsula was assumed approximately 0.72 lower than the Eastern coast during the late Quaternary in comparison to the 1st marine terrace along the Eastern coast.

  • This study aims to determine the sunlight exposure according to depositional environment to improve the accuracy of optically simulated luminescence (OSL) dating. Sufficient sunlight exposure during transportation of sediment is a basic assumption of the OSL dating, and if the process does not occur enough, the results may be overestimated compared to the actual depositional age. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to establish a correction method by determining residual or unbleachable dose after sunlight exposure in the actual deposition process, not in the laboratory measurement. Four samples from two sites were collected according to the depositional environment from rivers and coasts, and various OSL signals, including the size of residual dose, degree of dispersion between grains, and OSL signal sensitivity, were measured. As a result, it was confirmed that sediments formed under temporarily high energy environments, such as floods and surges, had relatively high residual dose or large dispersion of residual dose between particles. In further studies, the OSL signal characteristics of river sediments by flow velocity will be identified and the relationship between energy and OSL signal characteristics will be identified in more detail. Moreover, a method of reconstructing the paleo-environment at the time of deposition for existing sediments will be devised. It is expected to provide important information for the frequency of disaster recurrence and prediction of future climate change.

  • Geomorphological development and distribution at the macro scale provide a clue to the geotectonic characteristics that have affected the geomorphological system. This is because the developmental characteristics and distribution of the landform at the macro scale remain spatial characteristics due to tectonic processes, such as fault activity. From the perspective of tectonic geomorphology, this study identified the developmental characteristics and distribution of the Quaternary landforms in central-southern Yangsan fault and discussed its relevance to fault activity. In this paper, we presented examples and results of morphotectonic analysis of the Yangsan fault, and will present the results of age dating, stratigraphic relationship of the Quaternary landforms, and calculation of cumulative slip rate in the next paper.

  • 이 논문에서는 최근 널리 사용되고 있는 소셜미디어를 지진정보전달과 관련된 특성 위주로 분석하고, 가장 적합한 소셜미디어 서비스를 이용하여 지진정보를 전달하는 시스템 개발에 대해 설명한다. 먼저 소셜미디어의 전달 특성을 분류하여 가장 적합한 소셜미디어 서비스를 선택한다. 그리고 해외에 유사한 서비스를 조사하여, 이와 같은 서비스가 효용성을 가질지 판단한다. 이를 바탕으로 지진정보전달시스템을 개발하여 소셜미디어를 활용한 지진정보전달 서비스 환경을 구축한다. 이 논문에서 개발한 시스템은 현재 실제 기상청에서 테스트를 진행하고 있으며, 테스트를 마칠 경우 실제 운영을 시작할 계획이다. 본 서비스를 시작할 경우 다양한 전달매체, 특히 비교적 안정적인 매체를 통해 지진정보를 이용할 수 있게 될 것이다.

  • Thermal expension of the ball screw in semi-closed loop type CNC Lathe directly introduces positioning error along the travel axis. In this paper the thermal displacement of the ball screw is estimated by using macro variabie. The estimated dispacement of the ball screw are given to the NC in the form of pitch error compensation data into time interval. The thermal behaviour of the ball screw of the CNC Lasthe under the constant driving conditions was measured to examine the effectiveness of this compensation method. The results showed that thermal displacment of the ball screw were the positioning accuracy could be maintained to better then 6 .mu.m while using this compensation.

  • 본 논문에서는 관통형 고주파 노이즈 필터(noise filter)를 설계하고, 제작하였다. 분포정수형(distributed constant type) 노이즈 필터는 세라믹 다층 구조(multi-layer)를 가지며, 기존의 노이즈 억압 방법인 칩 페라이트 비드, 3단자 커패시터 그리고 집중 정수형(lumped constant type) 노이즈 필터에 비해 신호의 왜곡이 적고, 고주파 노이즈 억압특성이 우수하다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 분포정수형 노이즈 필터에 관통형 via-hole을 삽입하는 새로운 구조를 제안하였다. 제작된 노이즈 필터는 100MHz의 차단 주파수, 700MHz~1700MHz에서 20㏈이상의 감쇠 특성을 나타내었다. 또한, 기존의 노이즈 필터의 단점인 방향성 덴 공정에 대한 민감도를 개선시킴으로써 양산성이 향상되었다.

  • 최근 계속되는 유가 상승과 화석에너지의 고갈 문제, 그리고 환경에 대한 관심 증가로 인해 자동차의 연비 개선 및 배기가스 저감을 위한 친환경 자동차 기술로 전기자동차에 대한 연구 활동이 활발하게 진행 중이다. 전기자동차에서 동력을 발생시키는 대용량 전동기는 큰 토크 발생에 필요한 전류를 받아들이기 위하여 내부적으로 이중 권선을 갖도록 구성되어 있고, 인버터 전력소자는 대용량 소자를 사용하거나 병렬로 구성하여 전동기 1상의 전류를 감당하도록 되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 전동기의 이중 권선에 인버터의 전력회로를 병렬로 구성하여 6선 3상으로 연결함으로써 전동기에 인가되는 인버터의 PWM 스위칭 주파수를 기존보다 낮게 사용하더라도 스위칭 소음, 전류의 맥동 및 손실을 줄일 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다.

  • several papers have reported that parallel heuristics or hybrid approaches combining several heuristics can get better results. However, the parallelization and hybridization of any search methods on the single CPU type computer need enormous computation time. that case, we need more elegant combination method. For this purpose, we propose Fast Model of Parallel Heuristics(FMPH). FMPH is based on the island model of parallel genetic algorithms and takes local search to the elite solution obtained form each island(sub group). In this paper we introduce how can we adapt FMPH to the job-shop scheduling problem notorious as the most difficult NP-hard problem and report the excellent results of several famous benchmark problems.
