The Change of Paleoenvironment during the Late Holocene in the Neungsan-ri Alluvial Plain, Buyeo-gun, Chungnam-Province, Korea (충남 부여 능산리 충적평야의 홀로세 후기 고환경 변화)

  • This study estimated vegetation environment and agricultural activity during the late Holocene inferred from pollen analysis of peat on floodplain of Wangpo-cheon around Neungsan-ri, Buyeo-gun, South Korea. By result of pollen analysis of 28 horizons from Trench NS 1 and NS 4, vegetation environment during 2,300 to 1,700 yr BP was divided into Pollen Zone I (Quercus-Alnus), Pollen Zone II (Quercus-Alnus-Gramineae) and Pollen Zone III (Pinus-NAP-Gramineae). The pollen analysis suggests that agricultural activity in the Buyeo area was widely spread from the early time of the Pre-Iron Age to the late Samhan Age and buckwheat field seem to be built to substitute paddy field during the early time of the Pre-Iron Age.

  • Geochemical approaches on the two recovered piston cores were performed to understand the characteristics of organic matters and the influence of the sea level variation of the East Sea in the Hupo Basin since the Holocene. The analyzing results on organic components (TOC and TN), and isotopic compositions of organic matters showed the variation to core locations and sampling depths. In core 08HZP-01, their values were gradually changed with depth from 4 mbsf to seafloor. However, rapid variation was observed at the boundary of 4.71 mbsf (meter below seafloor) in core 08HZP-03. Based on TOC/TN, $\delta^{13}C_{org}$ and $\delta^{15}N_{org}$, the origin of organic matters in the Hupo Basin can be divided into three groups; 1) predominant marine algae, 2) $C_3$ land plant, and 3) mixture of $C_3$ land plant and marine/freshwater algae. It is likely that the vertical and spatial variations of organic and isotopic compositions reflect the shifts in sedimentary environment (including sediment transportation) by ocean currents and sea-level changes and others during the Holocene period.

  • This study aims to fully understand the experience of elderly men living alone in a single room occupancy(Chokbang) by identifying the meaning and essence of their experiences. This research used purposive sampling. The data were collected for 7 months from september 2008 to march 2009. Eight elderly men participated in the interview. Mainly the semi-structured in-depth interview and focus group interview were used. The data analysis was based on Giorgi's 4 types of specific steps. As a result, 4 components and 16 subordinate components were drawn from the analysis. The components resulted from the analysis are: , , , . Based on these results, I discussed the attitudes of the elderly men living alone in Chokbang in meaningful and gender-sensitive ways. Moreover, I provided social welfare connotation and future research suggestions.

  • Dokdo has historical and political meaning in relation to the territorial problems with Japan. The area can be the main factor to explain the formation and development process of East-Sea as exposure volcanic island at East-Sea with Ulreong-island. Accordingly, it also has an important meaning of physical geography aspects In this research, it is perceived the geomorphological development process of slope due to the salt weathering which is considered as the most important factor to understand whole geomorphology of Dokdo. And researched how a geomorphology of this sort affects to animal and plants. The peculiar geomorphology is tafoni which is a weathering geomorphology and one of the remarkable geomorphology in preservation of Dokdo. Tafoni at west part of Dongdo is distributed intensively near shoreline which is composed tuff. The shape of tafoni is mainly massive, circle and oval in Massive tuff breccia layer also is formed toward horizontality bedding direction in Bedded lapilli tuff. Tafoni in Dokdo is constituted after middle of Holocene. This fact can be proved by ranging at surface of sea-cliff which is formed wave erosion after middle of Holocene sea-level reaching to present level. Tafoni is also the most contribute factor of geomorphology dissection of Dokdo as it is eroded the bed rock with salt weathering. In bottom part of tafoni it has an important function for habitat of birds. Herbaceous plants are on it. To procrastinate of bed rock dissection by growth of Tafoni, conservation of vegetation and soil are most important factor.

마지막 최대빙하기 이후 북극해 스발바드군도 Van Mijenfjorden의 고환경 변화

  • Van Mijenfjorden은 스발바드 군도의 Spitsbergen 서부에 위치하는 두 번째로 큰 피오르드로 온난하고 염분도가 높은 북대서양의 표층수가 북극해로 유입되는 Gateway에 위치하기 때문에 전지구적이며 지역적인 기후변화의 영향을 받는 지역이다. 1999년 IMAGES 프로그램의 일환으로 프랑스 탐사선인 'R/V Marion Dufresne'을 이용하여 북극해의 스발바드 군도에 위치하는 Van Mijenfjorden (77$^{\circ}$ 46.87'N and 15$^{\circ}$ 17.81'E)에서 약 18m의 빙ㆍ해양 퇴적물 코아(MD99-2305)를 시추하여 마지막 최대 빙하기 이후의 고환경변화를 연구하였다. AMS 14C 연대 측정에 의하면 diamicton 층인 하부 2m를 제외한 16m의 퇴적층은 지난 12cal. ka BP경에 피오르드에 존재하던 조수빙하(tidewater glacier)가 해빙되기 시작한 이후에 퇴적되었다. 특히 유기지화학 자료와 부유성과 저서성 유공충의 산출양상 그리고 저서성 유공충인 C. reniforme의 산소ㆍ탄소 안정동위원소 비에 의하면 코아 MD99-2305에는 Van Mijenfjorden에서 홀로세 동안에 일어난 퇴적환경변화를 잘 기록하고 있다. 특히 홀로세 동안에 피오르드내의 퇴적환경 변화는 조수빙하의 확장과 후퇴와 밀접한 관계가 있으며, 유기물의 탄소동위원소(13Corg) 비는 -24에서 -22$\textperthousand$ 값의 변화를 보인다. 이는 Van Mijenfjorden 퇴적물에 공급된 유기물은 육상과 해양기원이 혼합되어 퇴적되었음을 지시한다. 지난 12 cal. ka BP 이후 13Corg 값이 뚜렷하게 변하는 것은 Van Mijenfiorden에서 조수빙하의 변동과 표층수에서의 생산력의 변화를 강하게 반영한다. 강하게 반영한다.53%가 이공계 출신, 100대 기업 CEO의 38.4%가 이공계 출신, 대입수능시험에서 자연계 지원비율이 감소 -40.1%('99)\$\longrightarrow$34.7%('00)\$\longrightarrow$29.4%('01)\$\longrightarrow$26.9%('02)\$\longrightarrow$30.3%('03)\$\longrightarrow$31.5%\$\longrightarrow$'04)필요성, 효과적인 운전자 교육 정책 등이 그것이다. 자동차 긴급 피난 차선은 유용한 시설로 여러곳에서 그 기능이 발휘되고 있으므로 많은 고속도로 관계자들은 설계, 시공 및 유지 관리 측면에서 유의해야 할 것이다.미세조직을 광학현미경으로 압출방향에 평행한 방향과 수직방향으로 관찰하였고, 열간 압출재 이방성을 검토하기 위하여 X선 회절분석을 실실하여 결정방위를 확인하였다. 전기 비저항 및 Seebeck 계수 측정을 위하여 각각 2$\times$2$\times$10$mm^3$ 그리고 5$\times$5$\times$10TEX>$mm^3$ 크기의 시편을 준비하였다.준비하였다.전류를 구성하는 주요 입자의 에너지 영역(75~l13keV)에서 가장 높은(0.80) 상관계수를 기록했다. 넷째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰 자기폭풍일수록 현저했다. 주상에서 관측된 이러한 특성은 서브스톰 확장기 활동이 자기폭풍의 발달과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사한다.se that were all low in two aspects, named "the Nonsignificant group". Holocene Glaciomarine Sedimentation in Marian Cove, King George Island, West Antarctica (서 남극 킹조지 섬 마리안 소만의 홀로세 빙해양 퇴적작용)

  • A 2.3 m-long core obtained from Marian Cove, King George Island in the South Shetland Islands, West Antarctica shows clues to the glaciomarine sedimentation during the Holocene. The lower part below 115cm-deep of the core is predominated by coarser material such as diamictons compared with the higher part above 105cm dominated by finer material (rhythmite and massive muds). Based on the granulometric features the coarse materials are generally supposed to be glacially-driven and basal tills, whereas the fine materials appear to originate from various sources such as meltwater-supplied, glacially-supplied, wind-blown, and organic origins. However, the presence of erratic coarse particles in the finer materials suggests the ice-rafted origin of the relevant materials. The lower part below 105cm-deep of the core was characterized by lower TN, TC, and TOC contents, and by higher TS and CaCO$_3$ contents compared with its upper part. No significant changes in C/N ratio were shown throughout the core. The ice cliff along the east side of Marian Cove seemed to locate to the west by 1.6km at 8,300 years B. P. on the basis of the repetitive occurrence of rhythmite and diamicton. Since the retreat of ice cliff in 7,970${\pm}$70 years B. P. the sediments of Marian Cove were dominated by fine materials and ice-rafted materials. The abrupt increase of coarse materials in 175cm-4 deep seems to result from supply of coarse materials due to earthquake or other drastic phenomena.

The Vegetational History of korea During the Holocene Period (홀로세 중 한국의 식생사)

  • The vegetational and environmental history of Korea during the Holocene period has reconstructed by the use of folral, palaeoclimatogical, archaeological data and written records. From 10,000 to 6,700 yeat B.P. in mid-eastern Korea, deciduous broadieaved trees gradually increased trees, notably at c.8,000 years B.P. From 6,700 to 4,500 years B.P., the vegetation remained dominated by Quercus and pinus(Diploxylon). Vegetational informations suggest the postglacial hypsithermal from c.8,000 to 4,500 years b.p. After 4,500 until 1,400 years B.P., the admixture of cryophilous trees in midland and thermophilous trees in south seems to imply the latitudinal divisions of vegetation and climate. The presence of cultivated rice pollen as well as non-arboreal pollen and spores indicates an increased rate of deforestation. From 1,400 years B.P., there was a sharp decrease in the representation of temperate trees, but the presence of the cryophilous genera Abies and pinus (Haploxylon) is noticea-ble and might be related to the occurrence of Little Ice Age. Fossil pollen diagram from western Korea and eastern Korea since 6,250 and 10,000 yeats B.P., respectively have enabled to compare vegetational dis-tribution patterns and changes in the Holocene period. In western Korea, Alnus- dominated vegetation continued from 6,250 to 1,500 years B.P., but pinus took over Alnus from 1,500 years B.P. In eastern Korea, however, Quercus and pinus dominated from 10,000 to 2,000 years B.P., but pinus be-came predominant from 2,000 years B.P. On a time- spatial basis, different vegetational distribution pattern can be recognised between western and east-ern Korea. The use of seven historical records which is unique to Korea also enabled to reconstruct the distributional pattern and temporal change of vegetation from 1425 to 1928.

Carbon Isotope Analysis for the Climatic Environment Change in South Korea During the Holocene: a Case Study in Yengjong Islands of Yellow Sea (탄소동위원소분석을 이용한 한국 홀로세의 기후환경변화: 서해 영종도지역을 사례로)

  • The landform of the study area is defined as a small-scale alluvial plain in the valley bottom adjacent to the coast. By the aggradation of alluvial materials, this valley bottom plain was formed in dissected parts of low hills. For the purpose of reconstructing the palaeo climate environment in this study, $\delta^{13}C$ analysis and soil organic carbon analysis are therefore employed. Main results of this study are as follows: Section I: the period of $6,600{\pm}60yr$ B.P.$-5,350{\pm}60yr$B.P. was mostly in warm and humid climate environment. A little changes of the humid environment are detected as subdry (or sub-humid)${\rightarrow}$humid in terms of the dryness and wetness. Section II: the period of $5,350{\pm}60yr$ B.P.-2,200 yr B.P. was in warm and humid climate environment, which is similar to the present. However, The sediments between $4,720{\pm}60yr$ B.P. and $4,210{\pm}50 yr$ B.P. experienced the most humid climate environment of all studied sedimentary layers. After $4,210{\pm}50 yr$ B.P., the environment started to change from the humid to the sub-humid (or sub-dry) climate. Section III: the period of 2,200 yr B.P.$-210{\pm}60 yr$ B.P. was distinguish from previous two sections as the environmental changes to sub-humid (or sub-dry) climate was apparent.

Interpolation and Reconstruction of the Holocene Sea-levels Using Inverse Fractal Interpolation functions (프랙탈 내삽함수 역산법을 이용한 홀로세 해수면의 내삽 및 재구성)

  • The change of sea-level is a good indicator of the change of climate during the Quaternary period. The sea-levels in the world have been changing very irregularly during that time. The pattern of the Quaternary sea-level change was assumed to be a stochastic fractal in this study. We measured fractal dimensions of the Holocene sea-levels of the Hudson river estuary and the Delaware coast. A box counting method gave almost the same values. i.e., D=1.358 for the Hudson sea-level changes and D+1.346 for the Delaware sea-level changes. the ability of the inverse method of fractal interposea-levels. IFIF reproduction the realistic sea-levels for the both of them. The delaware sea-level data made less statistical errors for the interpolation of IFIF than the Hudson and the Delaware sea-levels. IFIF reproduction the realistic sea-levels for the both of them. The Delaware sea-level data made less statistical errors for the interpolation of IFIF than the Hudson sea-level data. This suggests that the Delaware sea-level data are more reliable than the Hudson sea-level data was calculated from the fractal dimension of the Delaware sea-level data. Fractal interpolation functions (FIF) was used to reconstruct the peleosea-levels of the Korean coasts and the Atlantic Ocean coasts of the United States. The Korean Peleosea-level change generacted by FIF is different from the peleosea-level change of the eastern U.S.. The Korean peleosea-levels are much higher than the eastern U.S. Paleosea-levels, comparing to each other from the present to 8,000 BP.

Holocene Environments of the Buyeo Area Choongnam Province: Reconstructed from Carbon Isotopic and Magnetic Evidences from Alluvial Sequences (충남 부여지역의 홀로세 기후변화 -탄소동위원소분석과 대자율분석을 이용하여-)

  • Multi-proxy analysis was used to produce a high-resolution paleoclimatic record from a thick section of the Holocene alluvial fan deposit in Gatap-ri, Buyeo. According to ${\delta}^{13}C$ analyses, five minor climate fluctuations can be determined. From the stage I to stage VI, climate changes are as follows: cool-dry, warm-humid, cool-dry, warm humid, drier than stage IV, and finally more humid environment than stage V. According to magnetic susceptibility records, four different stages can be identified, among which stage ii shows the highest susceptibility. Stage-i deposit is derived from sediments of back marsh-type wetland. Stage-ii and stage-iii deposits, however, show higher magnetic susceptibility because magnetite-enriched soil from weathered upland was transported to the area to form an alluvial fan deposits. Stage-iv deposit is comparable to the modern plow horizon.
