Signal Optimization Model Reflecting Alternative Use of Lanes for Left/Through Traffic at A Signalized Intersection (차로공동이용화를 위한 신호최적화모형 개발 연구)

  • Signal optimization model for alternative use of lanes at a signalized intersection with an stop-line added backward was presented in this paper. The simulation results shot-ed that the traffic fed from the stop-line passed the intersection in each specified phasing interval for left and through traffic. The experimental results indicated that the proposed model was much superior to traditional signal optimization methodology in reducing delay, fuel consumption, and disutility index for delay and stops. The effects for reducing delay were greater than those for doing fuel consumption and disutility index due to the added stop-line. The proposed model is expected to alleviate traffic congestion at intersections, both which have no left turn pocket, and which have large left turn volume. The model is recommended to adapted for intersections spaced long among them with no near driveway.

  • In this study, a mathematical model is developed for sewer rehabilitation planning by considering cost and inflow/infiltration. A sewer rehabilitation planning model is required to decide the economic life of the sewer by considering trade-off between cost and inflow/infiltration. And it is required to find the optimal rehabilitation timing, according to the cost effectiveness of each sewer rehabilitation within the budget. To solve the problem, we formulated a multiple objective mixed integer programming(MOMIP) model based on network flow optimization. The network is composed of state nodes and arcs. The state nodes represent the remaining life and the arcs represent the change of the state. The model considers multiple objectives which are cost minimization and minimization of inflow/infiltration. Using the multiple objective optimization, the trade-off between the cost and inflow/infiltration is presented to the planner so that a proper sewer rehabilitation plan can be selected.

  • The application of conventional method for optimizing firm water supply and hydro-electric power generation has some limitation during abnormal or extreme drought periods. Hashimoto et al. (1982) suggested there risk evaluation criteria such as reliability, resilience, and vulnerability. These three criteria have been incorporated into a mixed-integer programming model for evaluating the possible performance of water- supply reservoir (Moy et al., 1986; Srinivasan et al., 1999). However, till now, these kind of researches have been conducted only for water-supply reservoir. Therefore there have been no other study for multi-purpose dam including hydro-electric power generation. This study presents an improved formulation of the previous model for evaluating a multi-purpose reservoir system operation considering water supply and hydro-electric power generation. The modified model was applied to the Daechung multi-purpose reservoir system in the Keum river basin to demonstrate the efficiency of the improved formulation.

On an Implementation of a Hybrid Solver Based on Warren Abstract Machine and Finite Domain Constraint Programming Solver Structures (워렌 추상기계와 한정도메인 제약식프로그램의 구조를 이용한 혼합형 문제해결기 구현에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • Constraint Programming in AS and Optimization in OR started and have grown in different backgrounds to solve common decision-making problems in real world. This paper tries to integrate results from those different fields by suggesting a hybrid solver as an integration framework. Starting with an integrating modeling language, a way to implement a hybrid solver will be discussed using Warren's abstract machine and an finite domain constraint programming solver structures. This paper will also propose some issues rising when implementing the hybrid solver and provide their solutions.

The Improvement of Signal Timing Model with Mixed Integer Linear Programming for Coordinated Arterials (혼합정수선형계획법을 응용한 간선도로 신호연동화모형 개선에 관한 연구)

  • 신호연동화모형에서 통과폭모형은 지체를 최소화하지 못하고 지체도모형은 좌회전현시순서를 최적화하지 못한다. 이러한 모형의 단점을 극복하고자 개발된 KS_SIGNAL은 지체를 최소화하는 신호연동화모형이지만 지체를 산정하는데 있어 많은 한계를 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 개발된 KS_SIGNAL의 지체모형을 개선하여 보다 우수한 연동신호시간과 현시순서를 산정해주는 신호최적화모형(KS_SIGNAL II)을 개발하여 FORTRAN 언어로 전산화하였다. 개발된 모형은 다양한 평가를 통하여 기존 모형들보다 전반적으로 우수한 것으로 입증되었다. 본 모형을 통하여 차량 출발 및 도착형태에 따른 대기차량 소거시간을 고려하는 옵셋 산정이 가능해져 지체를 최소화하는 간선도로의 신호최적화모형으로 활용될 경우 도로기능제고 및 지체도 감소에 의한 편익을 얻을 수 있다.

  • 본 연구는 컨테이너 터미널에서 선박의 선적작업을 위한 선석배정 및 크레인 할당문제를 동시에 결정하는 문제를 다루고 있다. 실제 컨테이너 터미널에서 고려하고 있는 다양한 형태의 제약을 고려하여 선석계획 및 크레인할당 문제에 대한 혼합정수모델을 제시하였다. 제안된 문제에 대해 좋은 해를 짧은 시간 안에 구하기 위하여 발견적 해법을 제시하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 낙동강수계 일별 운영 계획 수립을 위한 저수지군 최적 연계운영 모형(CoMOM, Coordinated Multiple Reservoir Operating Model)을 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 동적 네트워크 흐름 모형을 기반으로 한 다중목적 혼합 정수 목표계획 모형 (MOMIGP, Multiple Objective Mixed Integer Goal-Programming)을 수립하였다. 이 모형은 월말 목표 수위 및 운영 제약 등을 목표 계획법으로 구성하였으며, 일별 운영의 특성을 고려하여 하도추적의 효과를 반영하였고, 선형화된 발전함수를 이용하여 발전량을 최대화 하도록 한 후 정확한 발전량을 사후에 산정하였다. 이와 같이 수립된 수학 모형을 GUI를 비롯한 프로그램(CoMOM)으로 개발하여 사용자가 편리하게 수행 할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 프로그램은 의사결정자의 운영 목표와 의도를 효과적으로 반영할 수 있도록 대화형 목표 계획법을 구현하였으며, 상충되는 여러 목적에 대하여 가능한 파래토(Pareto) 최적해를 제시하고 의사결정자가 가장 선호하는 해를 선택하도록 대화형 다중목적 계획법 CBITP(Convex hull of individual maxima Based Interactive Tchebycheff Procedure)를 활용하여 구현하였다. 한편 객체지항적 프로그램 기법을 활용하여 수계 내의 노드(저수지, 수요지, 발전소 등)를 추가 하거나 삭제 할 수 있도록 하여, 다른 수계로의 확장이 용이하도록 개발하였다.

Line Planning Optimization Model for Intercity Railway (지역간 철도의 노선계획 최적화 모형)

  • The purpose of this research is to optimize the line planning of the intercity passenger railway. In this study, the line planning problem has been formulated into a mixed integer programming by minimizing both user costs (passenger's total travel time) and operator costs (operation, maintenance and vehicle costs) with multiple train types. As a solution algorithm, the branch-and-bound method is used to solve this problem. The change of travel demand, train speed and the number of schedules have been tested through sensitivity analysis. The optimal stop-schedules and frequency as well as system split with respect to each train type have been found in the case study of Kyoung-bu railway line in Korea. The model and results of this research are useful to make a decision for railway operation strategy, to analyze the efficiency of new railway systems and to evaluate the social costs of users and operators.

A Study of Global Path Planning System for Traffic Information Aware On-demand Delivery Services Using Autonomous Mobilities (교통소통정보 고려 모빌리티 기반 수요응답형 자율배송 서비스 전역경로 생성 시스템 개발)

  • Autonomous driving technologies have entered the initial stage of commercialization. Recently, mobility services that combine autonomous driving technologies and information and communication technologies based intelligent transportation systems are being actively developed. This study develops a global path planning system that considers traffic information and user demands to generate the shortest time paths for autonomous delivery services using Mixed Integer Programming. While providing the autonomous delivery services, the generated paths are updated recursively according to traffic information updates or additional demands. The developed global path planning system was verified by simulations with traffic information in the Sangam autonomous driving test-bed, and comparative analysis with existing manned delivery services shows that operating costs, product delivery time, and empty driving time were reduced.

An Optimization Model for O&M Planning of Floating Offshore Wind Farm using Mixed Integer Linear Programming

  • In this paper, we propose operations and maintenance (O&M) planning approach for floating offshore wind farm using the mathematical optimization. To be specific, we present a MILP (Mixed Integer Linear Programming that suggests the composition of vessels, technicians, and maintenance works on a weekly basis. We reflect accessibility to wind turbines based on weather data and loss of power generation using the Jensen wake model to identify downtime cost that vary from time to time. This paper also includes a description of two-stage approach for maintenance planning & detailed scheduling and numeric analysis of the number of vessels and technicians on the O&M cost. Finally, the MILP model could be utilized in order to establish the suitable and effective maintenance planning reflecting domestic situation.
