When protoplasts from auxotrophie mutant of Trkhoderma koningii CUT121(Lys-, Met-) were mixed with isolated nuclei of wild type T. koningii ATCC 261 13 and treated with PEG solution, protrophic colonies were produced with frequency of more than 30 percent. One of segregants from prototrophic colonies showed increased xylanase activity and other polysaccharide-hydrolyzing activities comparable to those of wild type strain. Through measurement of DNA contents, induced segregation, and analysis of isozyme patterns, it was revealed that the prototrophic colonies were transformants resulted from exchange of genetic materials between the two kinds of nuclei used. These results suggest that nuclei transfer technique is more efficient than conventional protoplast fusion technique for strain improvement of Trichoderma species.
An extracellular chitinase was purified from the culture fluid of Streptomyces sp. 115-5, and its inhibition mechanism by end product was studied. The activity of chitinase was suppressed by the reducing sugar as the reaction proceeded, and the activity was inhibited by the addition of D-glucose. Besides D-glucose, the rate of chitin hydrolysis was inhibited by D-glucuronic acid, D-sorbitol and D-xylose in the reaction system of the enzyme. it was found that the hydroxyl groups at the C-2, C-3 and C-4 position of D-glucose molecule play an important role in the inhibition of the chitinase activity. D-glucose was found to inhibit the enzyme activity by mixed type of competitive and non-competitive mode.

Nakdong Estuary is complex water system, where sea water and fresh water meet each other. After construction of Nakdong River Barrier, the flow pattern and mixing processes have been changed. Variations of physical oceanographic environment in Nakdong Estuary due to opening and closing the floodgate of Nakdong River Barrier are analysed focusing the movement of outflows from the barrier. Surveys and analysis were made for the three cases. 1. Ordinary times (opening and closing the gate by the tidal period) 2. A period of flood time (opening the gate) 3. A period of water shortage (closing the gate).
Periapical cemental dysplasia(PCD) is a condition most commonly seen in the mandibular incisor region. Radiographically it passes through the three phases(osteolytic stage, intermediate stage, and mature stage). At osteolytic stage, the lesion is similar to features associated with granuloma or cyst that arise following pulpal necrosis. So, it is important to confirm the vitality of the pulp to diagnosis. In this case, it is difficult to confirm the vitality of involved tooth because the tooth was covered with PFG bridge. And it is unusual that the PCD lesion at mandibular incisors has occurred at first and the lesion of mandibular canine and mandibular premolar were occurred afterward.
Weathering profiles which were developed under a temperate, humid environment and relatively steep geography, show a thick saprolite and soil horiaon in the Precambrian granitic gneiss of the Yoogoo area. In the weathering profiles, secondary minerals such as interstratified biotite/vermiculite, tri- or di-octahedral vermiculite, halloysite, kaolinite, illite, smectite, gibsite and geothite were observed. Kaolinization of biotite is the most prevalent mechanism but vermiculitization is a minor from all ofweathering profiles. Biotite altered to B/V mixed layer-vermiculite, to illite and to halloysite, kaolinite and gibbsite. Halloysite is the most frequently observed weathering product of biotite in these profiles. Goethite is observed at the around or opened fissures of altered biotite. Tubular halloysite aggregates was fDrmed from dissolution-precipitation of plagioclase. The occurrence of halloysite aggregates is divided into a preferentially oriented type and a wrinkled one which were resulted from the dissolved type of plagioclase. Fe-bearing minerals have also been subjected to dissolution leaving the precipitation of geothite along dissolution voids. The profile of granitic gneiss is a typical weathering pattern showing a clay minerals increase toward the surface. Weathering of minerals were controlled by locally acidic and good-drainage environment, and formed a various and complicated secondary minerals in this study area.
A total of 139 surface sediment samples, collected from the continental shelf and slope off the southeastern coast of Korea, were analyzed in order to understand their grain-size, mineral composition and organic carbon content. Based on the grain-size characteristics, five surface sedimentary facies were distinguished: sand, clay, mud, sand-mud mixed, and sand-clay mixed facies. The sand facies appears to be composed mostly of relict sand. For mud, most of which seem to be of recent origin, two different sources were suggested, based principally on their areal distribution pattern and the local hydrographic conditions. Heavy mineral composition of the fine-sand size fraction allowed us to distinguish different sand populations from the study area. On the whole, the Hupo Bank sediments showed a high content of garnet, while the sediments from the northern part of the continental shelf were characterized by a relatively high content of metamorphic minerals (kyanite, sillimanite, andalusite, staurolite). Among clay minerals, the most abundant was illite, with chlorite, kaolinite and smectite following in decreasing order. Organic carbon contents in the sediments of the study area were generally high and showed an average value of 1.94%. The sediment grain-size exerted a strong influence on the organic carbon content. The highest organic carbon content, on the other hand, was found in the continental slope sediments.
Spatial distribution and temporal variations of phytoplankton population were investigated in Ch$\check{o}$nsu Bay, the Korean western coast. Diurnal fluctuations of phytoplankton standing crop are associated with semidiurnal tidal cycle, as high concentration at low tide and low at high tide. In monthly variations of phytopolankton standing crop, the 1st peak occurrs in March and the 2nd one in August. The study area could be divided into two parts, outer bay and inner bay according to the physical and biological factors such as water temperature and salinity, and phytoplankton distribution patterns. The northern waters of the bay, however, may be affected by irregular fresh water influx through the lock of the dike. Because of the hydrographical differences among the surveyed stations, phytoplankton species succession patterns of each station have some differences. On the whole in this study area, Paralia sulcata and Skeletonema costatum are dominant species all the year round. However, except June, Paralia sulcata, a tychopelagic diatom is not dominant species at Station 6 (northern end of the bay). This seems to be caused by the fact that the waters of northern part of the bay is less turbulent than that of the outer bay. The result of principal component analysis (PCA) indicates that Ch$\check{o}$nsu Bay is normal coastal ecosystem where the environmental conditions are cycled in a year, and water temperature and nitrogenous nutrients such as nitrate, nitrite and ammonia are major factors to influence the annual cycle of environmental conditions.

This study was conducted to evaluate the dry matter yield, quality and utilization of nutrients of wild Korean lespedeza as a forage legume sources. Dry matter(DM) yield of stages, chemical composition and DM digestibility were observed, also DM intake, digestibility and utilization of nitrogen and energy by Korean native goats were determined. Experimental diets include three treatrnents ; mixture grass hay(GS), GS 80% + lespedeza(LA) 20% and GS 60% + LA 40%, respectively. The DM yield of Korean lespedeza(LA) with advancing the growing stage tended to significantly increase(P<0.05). The average DM yield was observed 7,336kg/ha. CP content of LA tended to decrease, but fiber content tended to increase at growing stage advanced(P<0.05). The tannin content of LA was highest in bud stage (54.5mg/g), but tended to decrease at growing stage advanced, lowest in seed ripe stage(26.8mg/g) (P<0.05). With increasing the level of LA supplementation, DM intake by Korean native goats slightly increased, but no differences were observed in all diets. The digestibility of DM, cellular constituents and NDF were slightly lower for GS 100% diets than LA 20% and 40% supplemented diets(P<0.05). Apparently digested N% was not detected significant differences in all diets, but retained N and biological value were higher for LA supplemented diets than for GS 100% diets (P<0.05). Utilization of DE and ME was not detected significant differences in all diets. Above the results, it could be suggested that LA have a potential to provide as forage legume sources considering the DM yield, DM digestibility and nitrogen utilization.
From the early stages of learning algebra, literal symbols are used to represent algebraic objects such as variables and parameters. The concept of parameters contains both indeterminacy and fixity resulting in confusion and errors in understanding. The purpose of this research is to compare the beginners of algebra and pre-service teachers who completed secondary mathematics education in terms of understanding this paradoxical nature of parameters. We recruited 35 middle school students in eight grade and 73 pre-service teachers enrolled in a undergraduate course at one university. Using them we conducted a survey on the perception of the nature of parameters asking if one considers parameters suggested in a problem as variables or constants. We analyzed the collected data using the mixed method of qualitative and quantitative approaches. From the analysis results, we identified several difficulties in understanding of parameters from both groups. Especially, our statistical analysis revealed that the proportions of subjects with limited understanding of the concept of parameters do not differ much in two groups. This suggests that learning algebra in secondary mathematics education does not improve the understanding of the nature of parameters significantly.
In this study, it was sampling from heavy metal-contaminated soil with the waste in railroad workshop. And, the pollution concentration and analysis of particle-size distribution were conducted to design efficient purification process that it was aimed at high contaminated area, low contaminated area and samples containing waste foundry sand. But, it was the other signs of general soil contamination, as construction waste of waste concrete and waste wood, waste foundry sand, incinerator ash, etc is overall buried on the grounds. Thus, the common heavy metal purification technology has not decreased the pollution. However, heavy-metal contamination was reduced by magnetic separation utilizing the magnetic component of the mixed waste.
