Current end-to-end congestion control depends only on the information of end points (using three duplicate ACK packets) and generally responds slowly to the network congestion. This mechanism can't avoid TCP global synchronization which TCP congestion window size is fluctuated during congestion occurred and if RTT (Round Trip Time) is increased, three duplicate ACK packets is not a correct congestion signal because congestion maybe already disappeared and the host may send more packets until receive the three duplicate ACK packets. Recently there is increasing interest in solving end-to-end congestion control using active network frameworks to improve the performance of TCP protocols. ACC (Active congestion control) is a variation of TCP-based congestion control with queue management In addition traffic modifications nay begin at the congested router (active router) so that ACC will respond more quickly to congestion than TCP variants. The advantage of this method is that the host uses the information provided by the active routers as well as the end points in order to relieve congestion and improve throughput. In this paper, we model enhanced ACC, provide its algorithm which control the congestion by using information in core networks and communications between active routers, and finally demonstrate enhanced performance by simulation.
Wide spread deployment of infrastructure WLANs has made Wi Fi an integral part of today's Internet access technology. Despite its crucial role in affecting end to end performance, past research has focused on MAC protocol enhancement, analysis and simulation based performance evaluation without sufficient consideration for modeling inaccuracies stemming from inter layer dependencies, including physical layer diversity, that significantly impact performance. We take a fresh look at IEEE 802.11 WLANs, and using experiment, simulation, and analysis demonstrate its surprisingly agile performance traits. Contention based MAC throughput degrades gracefully under congested conditions, enabled by physical layer channel diversity that reduces the effective level of MAC contention. In contrast, fairness and jitter significantly degrade at a critical offered load. This duality obviates the need for link layer flow control for throughput improvement but necessitates traffic control for fairness and QoS. We use experimentation and simulation in a complementary fashion, pointing out performance characteristics where they agree and differ.

본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존의 DSR에 에너지 소비율을 기반으로 경로설정 및 대체경로 설정기능을 추가한 ECLB(Energy Consumption based Load Balancing Method)를 제안한다.

Port congestion has been recognized as one of the critical factors for port service competitiveness and port selection criteria. However, congestion ratio, the congestion index currently used by Korea, plays a very limited role in shipping companies' and shippers' selection of port and port authorities' decision making regarding port management and development. This is mainly due to the fact that this ratio is only calculated as the ratio of the number of vessels by each port. Therefore, this study aims to measure service level related to vessel entry and departure in Korea ports by evaluating waiting ratio(WR) according to terminals and vessel types. The results demonstrate that the waiting ratio of containerships and non-containerships is less than 4% and 15% respectively, which satisfies the reasonable level suggested by the UNCTAD and OECD. Port of Pohang is revealed to have the highest WR of 57% and among the terminals, No. 1 Terminal of the Shinhang area has the highest WR. In terms of ship types, WR of Steel Product Carrier is highest, followed by General Cargo Ship and Bulk Carrier at the Pohang Shinhang area. In addition to WR, berth occupancy ratio as well as the number and time of waiting vessels can be utilized to evaluate service level by ports and terminals from port users' perspective, and furthermore, to improve the port management and development policy for port managers or authorities.

Although a substantial amount of studies have been carried out in order to improve the performance of IEEE 802.11, most of them focused on how to slowly decrease the Contention Window size, instead of resetting it to its initial value. Slow decreasing of the window size reduces the collision probability and increases the channel throughput. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve good results in a heterogeneous network which coexists with the original DCF. For instance, a Gentle DCF(GDCF) has good performance in a homogeneous environment, while it can hardly transmit frames in a heterogeneous environment including the original DCF. It is because the slow decreasing of the window size reduces the transmission probability. In this paper, we propose a Fast Recovery DCF(FRDCF) to solve this problem. In the FRDCF, the reset mechanism of the original DCF is maintained to keep the transmission probability high, while a new counter is used to enhance the performance of the wireless LAN. We prove that, compared with the GDCF, the FRDCF has better performance in a heterogeneous wireless LAN.
