The South Korean hermit beetle has previously been identified as Osmoderma opicum, which is distributed in Japan. Because of its rarity, this species is classified as an endangered species. To date, however, the identity of this species in South Korea has not been conclusively confirmed. To assess the taxonomic status of the hermit beetle occurring in South Korea, we performed a comparative study with the beetle's Eurasian congeners, based on morphological examination and molecular analysis using COI gene sequences. The results clearly showed that the South Korean hermit beetle is identical to Osmoderma caeleste, which has been described from the Russian Far East. Therefore, we suggest that the taxonomic identity of the South Korean hermit beetle is O. caeleste.

The purpose of this study was to determine the possibility of in vitro maturation of tiger oocytes. Immature oocytes were recovered from a pair of ovaries. A total of 78 oocytes was collected, of which forty three were classified as good oocytes with compact cumulus cells and uniform cytoplasm. Forty three COCs were in vitro matured at $39^{\circ}C$, 5% CO2 in air atmosphere for 48 h in a IVM medium (TCM-199 supplement with 10% FBS, 0.6 mM cysteine, 0.2 mM pyruvic acid and 10 IU/mL HMG). Experiment I: the morphologic evaluation was conducted by measuring the diameter of oocytes with or without ZP, the thickness of ZP and the diameter of cytoplasm by microeyepiece at the same magnification (${\times}$100). Experiment II: the evaluation of meiotic development was conducted of the nuclear development stage of tiger oocytes. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The diameter of tiger oocytes $(176.5\pm6.1{\mu}m)$ with ZP was significantly (p<0.05) bigger than that of bovine oocytes $(150.7\pm4.9{\mu}m).$ The ZP thickness of tiger oocytes $(20.4\pm2.9{\mu}m)$ was significantly (p<0.05) bigger than that of bovine oocytes $(12.0\pm2.6{\mu}m;$ p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the diameter of cytoplasm (without ZP) between tiger $(122.1\pm9.7{\mu}m)$ and bovine oocytes $(118.7\pm7.5{\mu}m).$ 2. The rates of meiotic development of tiger oocytes were achieved GV (12.5 %) and MII (50.0%), respectively. These results indicated that tiger oocytes could be developed to MII in in vitro culture system.

A total of sixteen Xylotrechus species from the Korean peninsula are recognized, including a newly recorded species, Xylotrechus pavlovskii Plavilstshikov, 1954. We present brief descriptions of the Korean Xylotrechus species, except four species which could not be examined in this study. The geographic distribution, host plants, illustrations for each species, and a key to the Korean Xylotrechus species are provided.

This study�s purpose is to contrive the national brand image, developing sportswear design and related-culture by using tiger which represents Korea used to design sportswear�s logo and design. For the method of study, illustrator CS3 was used to design three vests and three sports shirts for both men and women by characterizing tiger image from Korean folk painting tiger. Tiger appears commonly in paintings, folk tales and literature of Korea since ancient times. It was even used as a mascot of Seoul Olympic on 1988. Many global sports companies choose an animal that represents their brand to advertise such as Lacoste, le coq sportif and musingwear, wolsey. This study could provide example design adapting korean traditional patterns, also expects for culture advertising Korean traditional culture and developing designs of Korean fashion companies.

Two dytiscid beetle species, Hyphydrus falkenstromi Gschwendtner and Sandracottus mixtus (Blanchard), are identified for the first time in Korea. Hydaticus pacificus Aube previously recorded in Korea was misidentification of S. mixtus. Habitus photographs, redescriptions, and diagnostic characters with line drawings of the species are provided.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of planting time on the survival rate and growth. Ilex cornuta Lindl., I. aquifolium 'Silver Queen', Ardisia pusilla 'Variegata', and Rhododendron indicum(Satsuki azalea) were planted in pottery pot six times such as April 1, June 1, July 1, August 1, October 1, and December 1 in 2017. The survival rate of I. cornuta Lindl. planted in April, October, and December was 100%, whereas the survival rates were 90% in June, 50% in July, and 60% in August, respectively. The survival rates of I. aquifolium 'Silver Queen' and R. schlippenbachii were also shown about 60% in July and 70% in August, which were lower than in the other planting times at 100%. However, the survival rate of A. pusilla 'Variegata' was shown 100% in the all planting times. The growth rates of plant length, plant height or leaf length or any others of I. cornuta Lindl. were shown 20.0%, 15.5% and 16.5% planted in June, July, and August, respectively, while those planted in April, October and December were 3.2%, 12.3% and 10.7% respectively. Similarly, the growth rates of leaf numbers and plant length of I. cornuta Lindl., A. pusilla 'Variegata', and R. indicum(Satsuki azalea) planted in summer season from June to August for all plat (not only leaf numbers and plant length in was facilitated, while the growth was restrained in planting for spring or autumn. Therefore, the plantation during summer is better for increasing the survival rate and promoting the growth.
