The visual characteristics of the World Cup emblem play an important role in conveying culture and identity, highlighting the key elements of the Games, and strengthening the brand image. This study first investigated the visual elements and theoretical background of the emblem through previous studies. Second, the selection of symbolism, shape, and color was the subject of the study. Third, based on the shape-related theory based on the '100 National Cultural Symbols', the analysis was performed using the 'IRI Color Matching Image Scale' as a tool, and a final conclusion was drawn. The World Cup emblem uses a lot of ethnic and living symbols, and the living and ethnic symbols are expressed in a combination. In the beginning, there were many symmetric shapes, but after that it changed to an asymmetric shape. The curved expression form is more used than the straight expression form. And most of the color arrangement image scale distribution shows light, dynamic and modern color arrangement characteristics. In the future, the World Cup emblem design will continue to use national and living symbols. The shape of the emblem should use curves and asymmetric designs, be intuitive, and directly reflect the theme of the competition. In addition, the national flag color should be used as the main color, and other colors should be used as secondary colors. The combination of colors must match the light, dynamic and modern color characteristics of the IRI color scheme image scale.

교차로 교통신호제어의 입려정보로 단순히 차량의 대수만으로는 정확한 신호제어를 할 수가 없다. 여기에는 대기차량수, 도로의 길이, 차량의 형태 등을 고려한 도로의 혼잡량이라는 상징적 정보량이 적합하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 상징적인 정보량은 입력정보인 실제적인 물리량사이에 서로 관련성이 없거나 상충적일 경우, 각 정보간의 선형성과 관련식을 도출하여 상징적인 정보를 얻는다는 것이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 교통 신호처리에서 사용하는 상징적 정보량의 의미와 필요성을 고찰하여 본 후, 퍼지 이론을 통해 물리적인 교통 정보량을 이용 교통신호제어 상징적인 출력 정량인 교통 혼잡량을 산출하여 교통신호제어에 적용하여 기존의 교통신호제어와 비교하였다.

패션잡지에 실린 패션 및 뷰티 관련 상품의 광고들은 현시대의 미의 이상을 제시하고, 상품소비를 통해 이를 성취할 수 있음을 제안함으로써 신체와 관련한 미적 상징성을 보여준다. 본 연구의 목적은 신체수정을 위한 상품의 특성과 상징적 의미를 확인하는 데 있으며, 이를 위해 여성잡지 Vogue와 남성잡지 GQ 광고 중 화장품과 바디케어 용품 광고를 선정하여, 이를 신체의 특성, 즉 색상, 볼륨과 비율, 형태와 구조, 텍스쳐, 향의 측면에서 구분하여 조사하였다. 그 결과, Vogue와 GQ 모두 다양한 종류의 신체수정을 위한 상품광고를 선보이고 있었으며, 상대적으로 Vogue가 GQ보다 더 많은 양과 종류의 상품 광고를 보이고 있었다. 신체의 특성에 따른 상품의 비중을 보면, Vogue는 신체의 색상과 관련한 시각적인 면이 높게 나타났고. 반면, GQ는 신체의 골격과 형태미, 볼륨과 비율, 그리고 향과 같은 덜 시각적인 면에서의 상품비중이 높았으며, 텍스쳐와 관련한 상품은 비슷한 비율로 나타났다. 이들 상품광고의 텍스트와 이미지에서 보이는 특성은 다기능성. 자연성, 개별성으로 구분할 수 있으며, 세계적 미의 추구, 젊음과 건강 이데올로기, 젠더 무경계화라는 상징적 의미를 내포하고 있다.

This thesis is focused on the bat symbol, especially prevalent crafts’ pattern in late Joseon period on museum collections. For the use and reperception of them, I am aimed for appropriate analysis of bat symbol by co connotation which reflects the characteristics on number.plastic.color symbol. This point of view, bat idea and bat paintings in Joseon period will be the source of meanings to the denotation of bat patterns. In the museum collections, bat paintings and patterns are calculated 324 objects. By functional classification, the bat patterns on dwelling-crafts for the royal and for the people will be discussed. In result, the bat paintings were only a few, however, usually connoted Taoist hermit with super-natural powers.longevity.protector of Lightning-God.praying for long life, which were based on Taoism. Meanwhile the bat symbol of dwelling-crafts for the royal projected the longevity and prosperity of king and queen. By he Five Blessings and good auspices in Ching dynasty, number of '5.4' implied 'Five Blessings', Through the correct recognition of homo-phone, "a bat(蝠, fu)=happiness(福, fu)$\rArr$five bats(五蝠)$\rArr$Five Blessings(五福 )." In the case of bat symbol on the dwelling-crafts for the people, especially its for women, it expressed on the metal-decoration of furniture and paper-crafts. In the metal-decoration, the signified of bat symbol were expellant-evil('guard') that of characteristic signifier, white-silver color, number '1' and 'flying-type'. The bat symbol on paper-crafts for the people signified 'double happiness'.harmony.sons with number of '2', 'Five Colors' and the transformation of 'flying-type'. Accordingly, the bat symbol on the dwelling-crafts for the people marked 'happiness and guard', because the people had concrete cognition the bat symbol as a denotation of 'happiness and 'guard' by itself

Game graphics provide players with a sense of immersion, leading to active participation. This paper aims to analyze the mythological meaning for symbolic design of game skill visual effects that reproduce the narrative and the worldview of games borrowing myths. The research method classified the visual effect image into a symbol of the form of a universal archetype representation and a symbol of color expressing the narrative in the game, and analyzed it by applying Roland Barthes' semiological scheme. Through this study, it was possible to analyze the meaning of visual effects as a mythical meaning that can be universally sympathized and an implicit meaning that symbolizes the narrative of the game. The symbolic expression of the visual effect, which reproduces the narrative of the game reflecting the myth, can induce players to engage and participate, and the design direction was intended to provide the visual effect to have a unique symbolism that reflects the game's mythical worldview of the game.

본 연구에서는 기존의 펜형 장치에 진행된 촉감 연구들이 진동이나 역감의 제시에 그쳤던 것에 반해, 더욱 일반화된 펜형 장치에 상징적 의미를 포함한 정보를 전달할 수 있는 촉감 패턴을 생성하는 방법을 제시한다. 상징성이 강한 시각적 아이콘을 촉감 패턴으로 변환하기 위해 점에서 이미지와 의미를 연상해 내는 별자리의 구성방식을 분석하여 이미지를 점으로 간략화하고, 촉감 제시 장치의 핀과 연동시켜 패턴화하였다. 아울러 본 연구의 효용성을 검증하기 위해 펜형 장치를 사용하는 PDA 응용 프로그램인 스케쥴러를 개발하여 생성한 촉감 패턴을 적용하였다. 본 연구는 임의적 배치 형태인 점자와 달리 촉감 패턴 자체가 상징성을 가질 수 있다는 점에서 일반인이 더욱 직관적으로 사용할 수 있다는 장점이 있으며 향후 적용한 응용 프로그램으로 사용성에 대한 검증이 필요하다. 또한 그 응용으로 일반적인 OS용 아이콘을 촉감화하거나 시각 장애인과 일반인이 모두 사용할 수 있는 Caller ID서비스, 게임 등 여러 가지 방향으로 활용할 수 있다.

Sometimes we need to acquire symbolic quantity of information instead of physical quantity for the output of any system. For instance we can not control traffic signal accurately through only the number of vehicles. At that case we can produce better output using symbolic quantity of road length and width and vehicle type. But it is very difficult to aggregate symbolic information from the unrelated and mutually conflicted input after calculating linear and related expression. Moreover that will take much time to produce symbolic output by the physical quantity only. In this paper we implemented the ultimate traffic control information by using fuzzy sensor algorithm and compared our results with the conventional traffic controller after studying the necessity of symbolic information in the traffic control.

Humans desire the achievement a of sense of unity between themselves and place to create an identity of place as a realization of his or her sense of belonging. Humans develop ideas from their culture and environment to be expressed physically within the landscape through symbols. Symbols are formed within a place through the structure of the space and, more visually, through the details. The purpose of this paper is to examine the structure of space and the details of 'the Courtyard of the lions' in the Alhambra and to study how the details influence the formation of the identity of place. This paper also compares the structure and details in terms of the meaning of symbols, design languages, cultural, social and historical background and the experience of the place. The structure of the space in 'the Courtyard of the Lions' represents Paradise in the Islamic religion a common theme in the composition of traditional Islamic gardens. The design languages expressed within the structure are order, balance, accent and enclosure; the inherit meanings of the structure are religion, the natural environment and way of life. The details tell of the ideology of Paradise, royalty, nature, and praise of God, while their design languages include physical and visual continuity, accent, variation, the feeling of movement, rhythm, and depth perception. The details also express the historical background of the Dynasty of Nasrid and the style of Mudejar. The name 'the Courtyard of the Lions' was taken from the detail of the lim figures, details within the landscape which are important in building an identity of place. This study demonstrates that the details at 'the Courtyard of the lions' achieved a sense of unity between man and place. In conclusion, details have immense influence in building of the identity of place.

이슬람 신비주의 교단인 메블라나는 독특한 춤 의식을 통해 종교의 영적체험을 경험 한다. 종교적 춤을 출 때에 착용하는 메블라나 복식은 그 하나하나가 형태적인 면에서 뛰어난 조형성을 가짐을 물론 각각의 형태들은 종교적 상징성을 지니고 있어 디자인의 신비감을 더해준다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 메블라나 복식의 종교적 배경과 형태적 특성을 분석하고, 이를 현대 복식의 디자인에 응용하여 보고자 한다.(중략)
