  • 본 논문은 기존 폰트 디자인을 고찰하여 한글과 라틴 알파벳 디자인의 형태 유사성을 향상시키기 위한 기초 자료를 제공한다. 고찰을 위해 윤디자인 대표 폰트 20종을 선정하였다. 형태적 관점에서 글자 디자인적 유사성을 찾기 위해 낱자, 낱글자, 낱말, 문장을 기준으로 고찰하였다. 윤디자인 대표 폰트 20종의 한글과 라틴 알파벳 글자 디자인의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 낱자(자소) 디자인은 동일한 형태이지만, 크기와 비례가 변화할 수 있다. 둘째, 낱글자(음절) 디자인은 낱글자 전체의 디자인을 위해 부분적으로 다른 형태를 디자인할 수 있다. 셋째, 낱말(단어) 디자인은 낱말의 우월효과를 고려하여야 한다. 넷째, 문장의 디자인은 글줄의 흐름을 고려하여 글자의 크기, 비례와 기준선을 디자인하여야 한다.

  • Among many design processes such as learning, storing, retrieving and applying, the process that learns design knowledge is very important for producing creative results that solve design purposes in design computations. The computer should have the ability similar to human in learning design knowledge. It should recognize not only physical properties but also high level design knowledge constructed from the first level physical properties. The high level design knowledge are recognised in terms of isometric translation relationships. This paper explains properties of isometric translation and methods how the computer can recognize high level shape design knowledge using shape pattern representation.

  • In space design or form design step, recognized necessity of digital design practical use. Also, deduced systematized analysis method that can use various function of CAD system actively. These method can promote the practical use because third dimensional digital design escapes plan and design process in concept that get presentation result after is completed, establishes role of effective and systematic digital design at planning and design of space or form. This uses by a design tool that ease designer's judgment and space and form analysis in architectural planning and design process that third dimension digital design is not part by a simplicity design tool.   • In generative design computer automatically and quickly generates many alternative design solutions, and the computer algorithms which perform the design tasks are important. The main purpose of this study is to propose a computer algorithm which generates three-dimensional shapes from a two-dimensional digital image such as a photograph or a painting. The base geometry of the final shape is a cylinder or sphere. A surface of the cylinder or sphere is deformed depending on the used image. The proposed algorithm was implemented as a computer program, and the program tested with several famous paintings. The algorithm and results presented in this study implicate the possibilities of the generative design which generates three-dimensional shapes from two-dimensional images. It is necessary to find and measure the values of the generated shape, and it will be a future research to find the relations of emotional and cognitive aspects between the input images and the generated shapes. Those studies are expected to expand the possibilities of generative design.

  • The wide range of understanding on form, function and style are very important in design practice. Because any design can't be existed without form and function and, also, every design can be embodied by the style. From this point of view, the new interpretation and their relations on form, function and style are studied in this paper. First of all, 1-In Introduction, a few issues are suggested to the purpose and requirement with explaining the background of the paper. 2-Design Form; original form, hand-made form, standard form and expressive form are researched. 3-Design Function; original function. traditional function, absolute function and relative function are studied. 4-Design Style; survival style, folk style, simple style and fusion style are searched. Finally, 5-In Conclusion, the approach method is expressed on form, function and style, and their relations are discussed.

  • Both the formal type of architecture and free-form architecture have basic factors and methods for basic expression. Because the use of digital design tools for creation of free-form design mostly depends on the character and ability of designer, this study aims to propose establishment of free-form design creation method as a prototype, including the method to create free-form design, through setting up rules that can be used in common. This study is carried out on the basis of the application of digital design tools used for creation of conceptual free-form styles at the phase of conceptualization and development, which is different from the general theory of free-from design. The free-from style in the modern architecture has begun with the changes in digital design tools and design concepts. In the case study based on the free-form designs in precedent studies, the morphological characteristics have been analyzed and interpreted by using the language of digital design tools, so that this study will suggest the techniques to realize the free-form style on the basis of geometric transformation by using the digital design tools, as well.

  • Form and function are not only the most important factors that tell the very essence of design morphology but also the fundamental factors that determine the existence of things. Th -erefore, approaching to the problems of them and the following practical morphological creation are the final goal of solving all the problems of design. Comparing with such importance and significance of the morphology, however there has been no conscious study nor logical achievement but only partial consideration about them. From this viewpoint, the substantial meanings, the intrinsic attributes and the typical patterns of them are inquired systematically and the whole through this study. Also their relations are identified with some appropriate views. As a result of this study, new knowledge base will be cons -tructed, and it will contribute to developing new morphological thinking and method which are especially strengthened these days.
