  • To construct seamless collaborative environments, what all participants intent should be delivered, and visual elements such gesture, facial expression, and ambiance should be shared with all participants. In this paper, we propose high-quality video service to support DV(digital video) and HDV(high-definition DV) based on Access Grid(AG) which is a prevalent collaborative system. The proposed service is designed for employing versatile media tools and codecs with SDP(session description protocol) and SAP(session announcement protocol). We also design network-adaptive video transmission module to mitigate the impact of network fluctuation. This periodically monitors multicast performance and controls frame rate on sender side considering network condition. The experimental results over the test bed show that proposed service enhances quality of AG video service and provides seamless high-quality video transport by mitigating the impact of network fluctuation.

  • Mobile Collaboration is an enabling technology that makes users share information between mobile devices and various Mobile P2P platforms have been designed and implemented for it. There are, however, few research papers on application of SIP protocol to spatial data sharing on mobile devices. In this paper, SIP based real time sharing framework is proposed to compose a mobile P2P platform on which spatial data can be trans(erred. A new protocol based on WKT and WKB is defined to send and receive spatial objects with SIP MESSAGE method. Base maps such as digital maps and parcel maps can be provided by a map server that is integrated with SIP server after a new SIP session established and client agents are registered. The framework proposed based onSIP enables users to transfer spatial data such as maps and satellite images directly between mobile devices during VoIP based voice call and therefore, mobile applications can be applied in various domains such asforest management and national defense.

  • Character images for the background screen of cell phones are one of the fast growing sectors of the mobile content market. However, character image buyers currently experience tremendous difficulties in searching for desired images due to the awkward image search process. Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) widely used for image retrieval could be a good candidate as a solution to this problem, but it needs to overcome the limitation of the mobile Internet environment where an initial query set (IQS) cannot be easily provided as in the PC-based environment. We propose a new approach, IQS-AutoGen, which automatically generates an initial query set for CBIR on the mobile Internet. The approach applies the collaborative filtering (CF), a well-known recommendation technique, to the CBIR process by using users' preference information collected during the relevance feedback process of CBIR. The results of the experiment using a PC-based prototype system show that the proposed approach successfully satisfies the initial query requirement of CBIR in the mobile Internet environment, thereby outperforming the current image search process on the mobile Internet.
