  • Recently, software education has been emphasized as a key element of the fourth industrial revolution. Many universities are strengthening the software education for all students according to the needs of the times. The use of online content is an effective way to introduce SW education for all students. However, the provision of uniform online contents has limitations in that it does not consider individual characteristics(major, sw interest, comprehension, interests, etc.) of students. In this study, we propose a recommendation method that utilizes the directional similarity between contents in the boolean view history data environment. We propose a new item-based recommendation formula that uses the confidence value of association rule analysis as the similarity level and apply it to the data of domestic paid contents site. Experimental results show that the recommendation accuracy is improved than when using the traditional collaborative recommendation using cosine or jaccard for similarity measurements.

  • Planning a multi-day trip is a complex, yet time-consuming task. It usually starts with selecting a list of points of interest (POIs) worth visiting and then arranging them into an itinerary, taking into consideration various constraints and preferences. When choosing POIs to visit, one might ask friends to suggest them, search for information on the Web, or seek advice from travel agents; however, those options have their limitations. First, the knowledge of friends is limited to the places they have visited. Second, the tourism information on the internet may be vast, but at the same time, might cause one to invest a lot of time reading and filtering the information. Lastly, travel agents might be biased towards providers of certain travel products when suggesting itineraries. In recent years, many researchers have tried to deal with the huge amount of tourism information available on the internet. They explored the wisdom of the crowd through overwhelming images shared by people on social media sites. Furthermore, trip planning problems are usually formulated as 'Tourist Trip Design Problems', and are solved using various search algorithms with heuristics. Various recommendation systems with various techniques have been set up to cope with the overwhelming tourism information available on the internet. Prediction models of recommendation systems are typically built using a large dataset. However, sometimes such a dataset is not always available. For other models, especially those that require input from people, human computation has emerged as a powerful and inexpensive approach. This study proposes CYTRIP (Crowdsource Your TRIP), a multi-day trip itinerary planning system that draws on the collective intelligence of contributors in recommending POIs. In order to enable the crowd to collaboratively recommend POIs to users, CYTRIP provides a shared workspace. In the shared workspace, the crowd can recommend as many POIs to as many requesters as they can, and they can also vote on the POIs recommended by other people when they find them interesting. In CYTRIP, anyone can make a contribution by recommending POIs to requesters based on requesters' specified preferences. CYTRIP takes input on the recommended POIs to build a multi-day trip itinerary taking into account the user's preferences, the various time constraints, and the locations. The input then becomes a multi-day trip planning problem that is formulated in Planning Domain Definition Language 3 (PDDL3). A sequence of actions formulated in a domain file is used to achieve the goals in the planning problem, which are the recommended POIs to be visited. The multi-day trip planning problem is a highly constrained problem. Sometimes, it is not feasible to visit all the recommended POIs with the limited resources available, such as the time the user can spend. In order to cope with an unachievable goal that can result in no solution for the other goals, CYTRIP selects a set of feasible POIs prior to the planning process. The planning problem is created for the selected POIs and fed into the planner. The solution returned by the planner is then parsed into a multi-day trip itinerary and displayed to the user on a map. The proposed system is implemented as a web-based application built using PHP on a CodeIgniter Web Framework. In order to evaluate the proposed system, an online experiment was conducted. From the online experiment, results show that with the help of the contributors, CYTRIP can plan and generate a multi-day trip itinerary that is tailored to the users' preferences and bound by their constraints, such as location or time constraints. The contributors also find that CYTRIP is a useful tool for collecting POIs from the crowd and planning a multi-day trip.

  • In this paper, we propose the LAR_CF, latent attribute rating-based collaborative filtering, that is robust to data sparsity problem which is one of traditional problems caused of decreasing rating prediction accuracy. As compared with that existing collaborative filtering method uses a preference rating rated by users as feature vector to calculate similarity between objects, the proposed method improves data sparsity problem using unique attributes of two target objects with existing explicit preference. We consider MovieLens 100k dataset and its item attributes to evaluate the LAR_CF. As a result of artificial data sparsity and full-rating experiments, we confirmed that rating prediction accuracy can be improved rating prediction accuracy in data sparsity condition by the LAR_CF.

  • Due to the rapid increase of available contents via the convergence of broadcasting and internet, the efficient access to personally preferred contents has become an important issue. In this paper, for recommendation scheme for TV programs using a collaborative filtering technique is studied. For recommendation of user preferred TV programs, our proposed recommendation scheme consists of offline and online computation. About offline computation, we propose reasoning implicitly each user's preference in TV programs in terms of program contents, genres and channels, and propose clustering users based on each user's preferences in terms of genres and channels by dynamic fuzzy clustering method. After an active user logs in, to recommend TV programs to the user with high accuracy, the online computation includes pulling similar users to an active user by similarity measure based on the standard preference list of active user and filtering-out of the watched TV programs of the similar users, which do not exist in EPG and ranking of the remaining TV programs by proposed rank model. Especially, in this paper, the BM (Best Match) algorithm is extended to make the recommended TV programs be ranked by taking into account user's preferences. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme with the extended BM model yields 62.1% of prediction accuracy in top five recommendations for the TV watching history of 2,441 people.

  • As the importance of providing customized services to individuals becomes important, researches on personalized recommendation systems are constantly being carried out. Collaborative filtering is one of the most popular systems in academia and industry. However, there exists limitation in a sense that recommendations were mostly based on quantitative information such as users' ratings, which made the accuracy be lowered. To solve these problems, many studies have been actively attempted to improve the performance of the recommendation system by using other information besides the quantitative information. Good examples are the usages of the sentiment analysis on customer review text data. Nevertheless, the existing research has not directly combined the results of the sentiment analysis and quantitative rating scores in the recommendation system. Therefore, this study aims to reflect the sentiments shown in the reviews into the rating scores. In other words, we propose a new algorithm that can directly convert the user 's own review into the empirically quantitative information and reflect it directly to the recommendation system. To do this, we needed to quantify users' reviews, which were originally qualitative information. In this study, sentiment score was calculated through sentiment analysis technique of text mining. The data was targeted for movie review. Based on the data, a domain specific sentiment dictionary is constructed for the movie reviews. Regression analysis was used as a method to construct sentiment dictionary. Each positive / negative dictionary was constructed using Lasso regression, Ridge regression, and ElasticNet methods. Based on this constructed sentiment dictionary, the accuracy was verified through confusion matrix. The accuracy of the Lasso based dictionary was 70%, the accuracy of the Ridge based dictionary was 79%, and that of the ElasticNet (${\alpha}=0.3$) was 83%. Therefore, in this study, the sentiment score of the review is calculated based on the dictionary of the ElasticNet method. It was combined with a rating to create a new rating. In this paper, we show that the collaborative filtering that reflects sentiment scores of user review is superior to the traditional method that only considers the existing rating. In order to show that the proposed algorithm is based on memory-based user collaboration filtering, item-based collaborative filtering and model based matrix factorization SVD, and SVD ++. Based on the above algorithm, the mean absolute error (MAE) and the root mean square error (RMSE) are calculated to evaluate the recommendation system with a score that combines sentiment scores with a system that only considers scores. When the evaluation index was MAE, it was improved by 0.059 for UBCF, 0.0862 for IBCF, 0.1012 for SVD and 0.188 for SVD ++. When the evaluation index is RMSE, UBCF is 0.0431, IBCF is 0.0882, SVD is 0.1103, and SVD ++ is 0.1756. As a result, it can be seen that the prediction performance of the evaluation point reflecting the sentiment score proposed in this paper is superior to that of the conventional evaluation method. In other words, in this paper, it is confirmed that the collaborative filtering that reflects the sentiment score of the user review shows superior accuracy as compared with the conventional type of collaborative filtering that only considers the quantitative score. We then attempted paired t-test validation to ensure that the proposed model was a better approach and concluded that the proposed model is better. In this study, to overcome limitations of previous researches that judge user's sentiment only by quantitative rating score, the review was numerically calculated and a user's opinion was more refined and considered into the recommendation system to improve the accuracy. The findings of this study have managerial implications to recommendation system developers who need to consider both quantitative information and qualitative information it is expect. The way of constructing the combined system in this paper might be directly used by the developers.

  • In the IoT environment, various objects mutually interactive, and various services can be composed based on this environment. In the previous study, we have developed a resource collaboration system to provide services by substituting limited resources in the user's personal device using resource collaboration. However, in the preceding system, when the number of resources and situations increases, the inference time increases exponentially. To solve this problem, this study proposes a method of classifying users and resources by applying the BIG5 user type classification model. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the inference time by filtering the user's preferred resources through BIG5 type-based preprocessing and using the filtered resources as an input to the recommendation system. We implement the proposed method as a prototype system and show the validation of our approach through performance and user satisfaction evaluation.

  • Currently the mobile web service is growing with a tremendous speed and mobile contents are spreading extensively. However, it is hard to search what the user wants because of some limitations of cellular phones. And the music is the most popular content, but many users experience frustrations to search their desired music. To solve these problems, this research proposes a hybrid recommendation system, MOBICORS-music (MOBIle COntents Recommender System for Music). Basically it follows the procedure of Collaborative Filtering (CF) system, but it uses Contents-Based (CB) data representation for neighborhood formation and recommendation of new music. Based on this data representation, MOBICORS-music solves the new item ramp-up problem and results better performance than existing CF systems. The procedure of MOBICORS-music is explained step by step with an illustrative example.

  • The development of information communication and artificial intelligence technology requires the intelligent command and control (C2) system for Korean military, and various studies are attempted to achieve it. In particular, as a volume ofinformation in the C2 workflow increases exponentially, this study pays attention to the collaborative filtering (CF) and recommendation systems (RS) that can provide the essential information for the users of the C2 system has been developed. The RS performing information filtering in the C2 system should provide an explanatory recommendation and consider the context of the tasks and users. In this paper, we propose a contextual pre-filtering CARS framework that recommends information in the C2 workflow. The proposed framework consists of four components: 1) contextual pre-filtering that filters data in advance based on the context and relationship of the users, 2) feature selection to overcome the data sparseness that is a weak point for the CF, 3) the proposed CF with the features distances between the users used to calculate user similarity, and 4) rule-based post filtering to reflect user preferences. In order to evaluate the superiority of this study, various distance methods of the existing CF method were compared to the proposed framework with two experimental datasets in real-world. As a result of comparative experiments, it was shown that the proposed framework was superior in terms of MAE, MSE, and MSLE.
