  • Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing technology is one of the key challenge issues in cognitive radio technologies, which enables unlicensed users to identify and utilize vacant spectrum resource allocated to primary users. In this paper, the cooperative spectrum sensing technologies apply the ITS(Intelligent Transport System) and performance of signal detection analyzes. Then, we utilize the OR-rule and AND-rule for the cooperative signal detection. These data fusion rules improve the performance and reliability of the signal detection.

  • Recently, cognitive radio technology has been spotlighted for the efficient use of limited frequency technology. The most important part of CR is to protect the incumbent user's communications. Therefore, CR user should be sensing the currently using channel and another hopping channel for sudden appearance of the Incumbent User. In this paper, we propose the cooperative channel sensing to protect the IU considering each CR user's remained power and sensing-zone, sense the spectrum bands in a fairly distributed manner and share the results among the users within respective sensing zone. Sensing scheme including inband sensing and outband sensing is utilized. The inband sensing is in charge of current using channel scanning while the outband sensing mainly cares about other channels. The performance results by computer simulations show that our sensing scheduling scheme reduces the number of sensing nodes and saves energy need to channel sensing.

  • Spectrum sensing and spectrum decision are the main functions that cognitive radios (CRs) have to perform in order to get the best available spectrum band for the establishment of a wireless communication. These problems are worsened in the presence of users with different demands and spectrum channels with different properties in a heterogeneous network. The primary objective in this work is to design and simulate a new spectrum decision algorithm for heterogeneous cognitive radio system. To this end, first, we consider all cognitive users are separated into different traffic classes according to their Quality of Service (QoS). The cognitive users within one traffic class perform spectrum sensing in centralized group-based cooperative spectrum sensing system and the users of different traffic classes share the sensing results. Second, we propose a novel use of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to optimally select available bands according to user requirements and detected spectrum channel characteristics (SCC). In this paper, utility function is used as spectrum decision algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method shows can effectively select the best available spectrum channels with a low complexity.

  • Recently, the intelligent transportation system (ITS) that provides driver convenience and reduces the number of road casualties is in the spotlight. ITS must quickly deal with the emergency situation and provide information which drivers need. In ITS, a different channel will be assigned for each service to provide the service efficiently. However, if the channel is used at an emergency situation, the service cannot be provided immediately. For overcome this problem, we introduce the cognitive radio technology into ITS and propose a new spectrum sensing method in this paper.
