Field Wave Data Analysis for Investigation of Freak wave Characteristics (Freak wave 특성 파악을 위한 파랑관측 자료의 분석)

  • This study is carried out the investigation of nonlinear characteristics of the ocean based on the field wave observation data acquired the western sea area in Jeju island during one year. It is aimed to offer the fundamental data for Freak wave forecasting in real sea. For this, the nonlinearity parameters of ocean waves, which are Skewness, Atiltness, Kurtosis and Spectrum band width parameter, are introduced, and the parameters are compared and discussed with some characteristic wave components, ie, significant wave height, maximum wave height, and so on.

A Study on Estimation of Allowable Wave Height for Loading and Unloading of the Ship Considering Ship Motion (계류선박의 동요량을 고려한 하역한계파고 산정 방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposed an estimation method of allowable wave height for loading and unloading of the ship considering ship motion that is affected by ship sizes, mooring conditions, wave periods and directions. The method was examined validity by comparison with wave field data at pier $8^{th}$ in Pohang new harbor. The wave field data obtained with wave height of 0.10~0.75m and wave period of 7~13s in ship sizes of 800~35,000ton when a downtimes have occurred. On the other hand, the results of allowable wave height for loading and unloading of the ship in this method have obtained with wave heights of 0.19~0.50m and wave periods of 8~12s for ship sizes of 5,000, 10,000 and 30,000ton. Thus this method well reproduced the field data respond to various a ship sizes and wave periods. And the results of this method tended to decrease in 16~62% when have considered long wave, and it is decreased in 0~46% when didn't consider long wave than design standards in case of the ship sizes of 5,000~30,000ton, wave period of 12s and wave angle of $75^{\circ}C$. The allowable wave heights for loading and unloading of the ship proposed by design standards are didn't respond to various the ship sizes and wave periods, and we have found that the design standards has overestimated on smaller than 10,000ton.

A Study on the Salinity Variation of Salt Water in an Estuary (하구(河口)의 해수(海水)의 염도변동(鹽度變動)에 관한 연구(研究) - 군산외항(群山外港)부근을 중심(中心)으로 -)

  • Since the estuary is a very complex place in which the sea water and the fresh water meet, it is very difficult to make a general analytical description of salinity distribution in the estuary. As an attempt to investigate the characteristics of salinity variation in the estuary of the Geum River, the field observations were continuously carried out at three points near the Gunsan New Harbor at the time intervals 1 to 1.5 hours during one tidal cycle and the data were analysed. The following results were obtained; 1. It was reconfirmed that most of the ratios of the salinity to the conductivity were widely distributed between the range of 0.5 to 1.0. 2. The salinity showed the peak at the high water, and then it began to decrease gradually and had the lowest value 0 to 2 hours after the low water. 3. The density current was generally the intense mixing type and when the river discharge was very large it was of the moderate type. 4. The vertical salinity distribution was not significantly affected by the wave height. 5. The maximum vertical salinity differences were generally less than 10 g/l and the time of the occurrence of the minimum value was 0 to 3 hours after the low water when in the spring tide and in the neap tide it occurred 2 to 3 hours after the high water.

  • The goal of this research is to evaluate methodology that uses satellite data for the analysis of flood and drought damaged area. Land cover classification were performed using satellite data that were acquired at disaster periods and comparatively normal times. Damaged area was extracted by use of overlay analysis in land cover change and compared with the field survey results. The results show analysis of flood damaged area could be carried out with single scene acquired at adequate day, and are corresponded with field survey data very well. And also, some areas that had been missed in field survey were found. The suggested method proved to be more accurate and effective way for mapping inundated areas of floodplains than field survey that would be held a few month later. The results on the analysis of drought damaged area show that drained water could be detected just only in small area, and crop damaged area could not be verified in objective validity. Drought analysis by remote sensing was proved not to be adequate for practical use in this study.

  • 인간의 보다 질 높은 생활관을 추구하기 위하여 친 환경적인 산업개발 및 환경 복원 사업에 대한 노력이 최근 들어 끊임없이 지속되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 서울시 청계천을 대상으로 청계천 복원 전과 복원후의 지표 열 분포도를 작성하고 이를 기반으로 청계천 복원 전${\cdot}$후의 지표 열 변화를 분석하였다. 아울러 지표온도와 현지 관측 자료인 AWS 자료와의 비교 분석을 수행하여 지표온도와 대기온도 차를 도출하였다. ASTER 영상 열적외센서(TIR) 와 GIS 를 활용하여 도시 지표면의 온도를 추출하고, AWS 기 상관측자료와의 상관성 분석 함으로써 도심의 지역적 인 지표 열 패턴과 국지적인 기후연구에 활용가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 사용자의 위치정보는 에이전트가 상황에 적합한 서비스를 제공하는데 중요하게 사용될 수 있으며 정확한 위치 추적 및 활용 방안에 대한 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그 중에서 사용자의 다음 위치를 예측하는 것은 사용자에게 필요한 서비스를 명시적인 요청없이 미리 제공하는데 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 GPS신호를 이용하여 사용자의 위치 이동경로를 학습하고 사용자의 이동에 기반한 서비스 제공 방법을 제안한다. GPS에 의해 관측된 위치 이동경로는 시간 순서의 데이터에 적합하도록 SOM을 변형한 RSOM과 마르코프 모델을 이용하여 학습되며, 새로 관측된 사용자 위치 데이터에 대해 다음 이동 패턴을 예측하는 기능을 가진다. 실제 캠퍼스에서 수집된 데이터를 이용하여 제안한 방법의 가능성을 평가한다.

Analysis of Littoral Currents by the Coupled Hydrodynamic Model (복합해수유동 수치모형에 의한 조간대 연안류의 해석)

  • To evaluate the influence of the external force components on the littoral currents in the Gusipo beach, Jeonbuk, West Coast of Korea where a wide tidal sand flat developed, a coupled hydrodynamic model considered real time tidal currents and wave-induced currents was constructed in which the EFDC for tides and tidal currents, the SWAN for waves and the SHORECIRC for wave-induced currents were used as the hindcasting models. A series of field observations for tides, tidal currents and incident waves were carried out and especially to observe the littoral currents in the tidal sand flat, the GPS mounted and light weight drogues were used. Also wind data were collected from the adjacent weather station. To analyze the littoral current components, the numerical drogue tracking results considered real time winds, tides and waves were compared with the field drogue data. The drift speed of numerical drogues was reproduced as the range of 68.0~105.2% compared with the field data and the velocity error of main direction component showed a good result as -16.7~10.0%. As a result, in the mild slope tidal flat including wide surf zone, the tides and winds were the major affection component of the littoral currents, on the other hand, the wave-induced currents seemed the minor component when the incident wave heights were relatively small.

  • 산지하천 유역의 물순환 과정은 도시하천 유역보다는 매우 단순한 과정을 묘사하고 있다. 아무리 단순한 물순환 과정을 묘사한다 할지라도 물순환 요소별 정량적인 관측과 측정, 즉 수문자료의 부재, 수문자료가 있다 하더라도 일부분(홍수기 중심 및 단기간 자료)에 불과 하다면 불가능한 일이다. 한국건설기술연구원에서 16년간 운영해 온 설마천 시험유역은 장기간의 신뢰성 있는 수문자료를 축적하고 있으므로, 정량적인 물순환 과정을 규명할 수 있는 여건을 충족한다고 볼 수 있다. 설마천 시험유역의 물순환 구조는 자연계의 유입과 유출이 지배적이며, 이들의 수문성분을 규명하기 위해서는 각각의 수문성분들의 관측 및 해석이 필요하며, 각 수문성분들의 물수지 분석을 통하여 정량적인 합의 결과를 가시적으로 확보함이 매우 중요하다. 신뢰도와 정확성에 근거한 관측자료를 이용한 물수지 분석결과는 수문성분들의 총체적 표현이라 할 수 있는 모형(model)의 중요한 입력자료이며, 모형의 분석결과를 검증할 수 있는 중요한 기준이 된다. 모형의 결과와의 비교 검토를 통해 산지 소하천 유역의 물순환 관계를 규명하는 기반을 확보하게 될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 신뢰성 있는 수문자료를 이용하여 물수지 분석을 하였다. 설마천 시험유역의 신뢰할 만한 관측자료에는 강우, 하천수위, 지하수위, 기상 등이 있으며, 이들 자료를 이용하여 강우량, 유출량, 지하수 함양량, 증발산량을 산정하였으며, 현지조사 자료로는 지하수이용량이 있다. 이상의 분석결과로 산지하천 유역인 설마천 시험유역의 각 수문요소의 물 이동간의 정량적인 값을 알 수 있었으며, 앞으로 추가적이고 지속적인 수문모니터링이 운영되고 산지하천 유역에 적합한 물순환 해석 모형에 의한 검증이 수행된다면 정량적인 물순환 관계를 규명할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 이와 관련된 수문요소 기술을 확보할 수 있을 것이다.

Reduction Method of Shoaling of Navigation Channel Using Composite Channel Slope (복단면 항로를 이용한 항로매몰 저감공법)

  • A large part of shoaling of navigation channel surrounded by fine sand is caused by suspended sediment in non-equilibrium state. We develop a numerical model for predicting shoaling of navigation channel where concentration of suspended sediment in such state is accurately simulated. In this study, effects of channel geometry on the shoaling of the channel are investigated numerically. A composite slope of navigation channel is also proposed to reduce non-equilibrium property of suspended sediment. It is found that the composite slope can effectively reduce non-equilibrium property of suspended sediment and the amount of sediment deposited in the main channel.

Countermeasures for the Siltation in Small Fishery Harbors (소규모 어항의 항내매몰 방지대책 검토)

  • The sediment at the majority of fishery harbors located on the east coast of Korea are affccted by the waves and wave-induced currents as the main external force. And the surroundings of the harbors are composed of sandy beaches. Because many harbors are small and their entrances are located in the wave¬breaking zone, they suffer severe siltation and topographical changes. In order to solve the problems, we have to understand the mechanism through estimations and accurate reproduction of the harbor siltation phenomenon. We suggest economically substantial countermeasures for harbor siltation in the small fishery harbors and investigate the preventive effects using a numerical simulation technique.
