Development of Ceramic Composite Membranes for Gas Separation: III. Examination of Membrane Characteristics by the Gas Permeation Model (기체분리용 세라믹 복합분리막의 개발: III. 기체투과 모델에 의한 막의 특성 규명)

  • Model equations for the gas permeation through a ceramic composite membrane were derived for examining the existence of crack, the reproducibility, and the microstructural properties of composite membranes. From the results of analyzing the nitrogen permeability data through alumina-tube supported TiO2 and SiO2 composite membranes, the extent of cracking, and the formation and structure of membrane top-layers were modelled. It was proved that the crack-free and reproducible composite membranes could be easily prepared only by the pore-filled coating within pores of the support in the sol-gel coating process.

  • ${\gamma}-alumina$ membranes were prepared by sol-gel dip coating or pressurized coating of boehmite sols on slipcasted ${\gamma}-alumina$ support tubes. The particle size of sols synthesized via the modified Yoldas-method could be controlled below 5 mn according to the mole ratio of nitric acid/aluminumtri-sec-butoxide (0.07~1.0). The reproducible crack-free composite membranes were produced by the 2nd dip coating or the pressurized coating technique using very stable sols with the particle size of 45 nm. Nitrogen gas permeability through the top-layer in the composite membrane was about $70~55{\times}10^{-7}\;mol/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$. The thermal stability of the top layer was proved to be good enough upto the heat-treatment temperature of $500^{\circ}C$.

  • Al2O3/ZrO2-Spinel composites were prepared by infiltrating magnesium sulfate solution into the porous preform made from Al2O3-20wt% ZrO2 composite powders derived through an emulsion route. The microstructure and composition of the modified composites could be controlled by manipulating the presingtering temperature of the preform, infiltration time, and so on. It was found that spinel phases were concentrated near the surface than in the interior of the Al2O3/ZrO2-Spinel composites infiltrated for 6hrs, while spinel phases were uniformly distributed in the comosites infiltrated for 2 days. The relative density and fracture toughness of the composite infiltrated for 6 hrs were 98.6% and 7.2MN/m3/2, respectively.

  • The ceramic composite membrane was synthesized by thermal oxidation after evaporation of Al on the support prepared by slip casting process. Oxidation was performed at $700^{\circ}C$ and 80$0^{\circ}C$ under dry oxygen atmosphere. It was considered as optimum oxidation condition that the membrane showed a knudsen behaviro. A further oxidation resulted in an increase of gas permeability because top layer became densified. Then, a multi-layered composite membrane was synthesized through a sol-gel method, evaporation and thermal oxidation of Al coating processes. While the membrane was thermally stable up to 80$0^{\circ}C$, gas permeability was rapidly decreased even at a slight amount of deposition of Al.

  • ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fibers for fiber reinforced molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) matrix have been produced from LiAlO2 complex polymeric sols using the sol-gel process. The stable and spinnable LiAlO2 sols could be synthesized by mixing LiNO3 alcohol solutions in aluminum complex polymeric sols prepared through the condensationpolymerization reaction of 1 more of aluminum tri-sec-butoxide with 0.55 mole of mixed chelates (mole ratio of acetylaceton/triethanolamine=0.25/0.3). It was found that the viscosity range for fiber-spinning should be higher than 30 poise. The defect-free flexible ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fibers with the average tensile strength of 350 MPa could be obtained when the spinned fibers were heat-treated to 120$0^{\circ}C$ on the specified heating schedule after dried at room temperature.

  • 반도성 세라믹 광촉매 막 반응기 (membrane reactor)에 의한 난분해성 유독 유기물질의 분해공정을 개발하기 위한 기초연구로서 $TiO_2$ 막 반응기의 formic acid 및 trichloromethane에 대한 광분해 효율이 연구되었다. 막 반응기는 용액의 정밀여과 (microfiltration)는 물론 유기물의 광분해를 동시에 수행할 수 있도록 다공성 $TiO_2$ 튜브 (평균기공 : $0.2 \mu m$)를 이용한 새로운 타입으로 ㅐㄱ발되었으며 광원으로는 365 nm 파장을 갖는 UV를 사용하였다. 또한 반응기의 광분해 효율을 증진시키기 위하여 슬립케스팅법으로 제조한 $TiO_2$ 튜브표면을 $TiO_2$ 졸로 코팅하였다.

  • 제 3세대로 불리우는 차세대 발전시스템인 고체산화물 연료전지(Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, SOFC)는 연료전지 가운데 발전효율이 가장 높고, NOx와 SOx의 발생이 없는 무공해 청정에너지 발전 시스템으로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이중 원통형 구조는 전력밀도가 평판형 구조에 비해 다소 떨어지나 반응기체의 밀봉이 쉽고, 기계적 강도가 높으며, 열응력에 대한 저항성이 높아 스텍제작이 비교적 용이하며 장기 운전이 가능하다는 장점이 있으며, 평판형 구조의 경우는 전류의 흐름이 구성요소의 면에 수직방향으로 흐르므로 전력밀도가 높은 장점이 있으나 가스의 밀봉이 어렵고, 기계적 강도나 열응력에 대한 저항성이 높은 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 원통형 구조와 평판형 구조의 상호 장점을 보완하여 기존의 원통형의 구조를 최적화하여 개선한 연료극 지지체식 Flat-Tube형 고체산화물 연료전지의 제조와 특성에 대한 연구를 발표하고자 한다.

Analysis of the Sol-Gel Coating Process for the Preparation of Supported TiO2 Composite Membranes ($TiO_2$ 복합 분리막의 제조를 위한 졸-겔 코팅공정 분석)

  • The titania membrane thickness coated on the porous alumina support by the sol-gel method was analyzed using the slipcasting model. The thickness of calcined membrane layers increased linearly from 1.3 to 3.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with the square root of the dipping time (4~40 min). Growth rates of the thickness of wet gels and calcined layers were well described quantitatively by the slipcasting model. Through the regression of experimental data using model equations, the permeability and the pressure drop across wet gels, and the thickness and their growth rate constants of wet gels and calcined layers could be determined. It was also known that the gellation concentration of the TiO2 sol used in this work and the porosity of wet gel layes were 25 mol/ι and 0.53, respectively.

  • A new pressurized sol-gel coating technique forming membrane layers inside pores of the porous support by the simple operation has been developed. Crack-free and reproducible nanoparticulate silica membranes supported on the porous $\alpha$-alumina tube are synthesized by pressurized coating at 600kPa for 2hr. The pore radius and N2 gas permiability at the room temperature of silica membrane layers are 8$\AA$ and 7.0$\times$10-7mol/$m^2$.s.Pa, respectively. The mechanism of N2 gas transfer through synthesized membrane layers is the perfect Knudeen flow, and the thermal stability of the silica composite membranes is excellent upto 40$0^{\circ}C$.

  • 차세대 유비쿼터스 환경에서 중요한 기술적, 산업적 위치를 차지하는 RFID 네트워크에는 다수의 RFID 리더(Reader)와 수많은 RFID 태그(Tag)들이 통신을 하면서 존재하게 된다. 이러한 RFID 네트워크에서 리더와 태그간의 원활한 통신을 위해서는 주파수 충돌이 발생하지 않아야 한다. 주파수 충돌 현상은 리더와 다수의 태그들 간의 태그 충돌(Tag Collision)과 리더간 주파수 간섭으로 인한 리더간 충돌(Reader Collision)로 나뉘어 질 수 있다. 따라서 리더간 충돌 현상을 피하기 위해서는 근접한 리더들 간에 서로 다른 타임슬롯(Timeslot)을 사용하여 태그와 통신을 시도하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 RFID 네트워크에서 다수의 리더간 충돌을 최소화하며 안전한 태그 인식을 할 수 있도록 타임 슬롯 할당 문제를 CSP(Constraint Satisfaction Problem)로 접근한다. 그리고 CSP를 풀기 위해 리더간 충돌 문제가 가지고 있는 제약조건을 찾아내고 해를 찾기 위한 목적함수를 모델링 한다.
