서울은 600년이 넘는 역사와 전통을 간직한 우리 나라의 심장이자 얼굴이 되는 도시이다. 그러나 지난 30년간의 급격한 개발시대를 거쳐오면서 고도로서의 문화적 향기를 상실하였고, 매력과 특징이 없는 도시로 빠르게 변해가는 것은 안타까운 일이다. 이는 다가올 21세기가 서울의 정체성과 고유성을 더욱 필요로 할 것임에 비추어 더욱 그러하다고 할 수 있다. 서울은 급격한 경제성장으로 인하여 세계에서 그 유래를 찾기 어려운 급격한 변화를 보인 도시이다. 서울의 도심부를 둘러싸고 있는 북악, 인왕, 낙산, 남산은 옛 모습을 지니고 있으나 그 내부는 과거의 모습을 찾기 어렵고, 다만 현대적인 모습만이 흘러 넘치고 있을 뿐이다. 또한 서울은 물리적으로 엄청나게 성장하여 그 경계를 찾기 어려운 도시가 되어버렸다. 따라서 서울은 밝고 번영하는 모습과 어둡고 불합리한 모습이 공존하는 이상한 도시로서 인식되고 있다. 서울을 현재의 모습과는 전혀 새로운 환경으로 개발하고 보존할 수 있는 대책과 계획이 더욱 필요한 때이다. 공공과 민간 그리고 시민이 참여하여 600년 고도의 역사성이 드러나고 걷고 싶고 인간적인 분위기를 간직하며 다양한 기능과 형태가 조화롭게 공존하는 도시로 가꾸어갈 수 있는 지혜를 모아야 할 것이다. 이번 특집에서는 서울을 대상으로 하여 그 역사적인 흔적과 오늘의 모습 그리고 미래의 대안을 회고하고 진단하며 모색하는 기회를 갖기 위해 여러 전문가들의 글을 마련하였다.

현대의 도시재생사업은 도시의 기존 모습을 유지하면서도 낙후된 도심 환경을 개선하여 원주민의 재정착률을 높이고 쇠퇴한 구도심에 새로운 활력을 불어넣는 것을 목표로 한다. 도시재생에서 환경조형물은 이러한 시대적 요구와 그것이 놓이는 장소 혹은 공간이 가지는 의미, 공공성 또는 공익성이라는 영역에서 예술적 가치를 창출해야 한다. 이 논문에서는 마을흔적보전사업의 환경조형물을 '리사이클, 업사이클, 뉴사이클'이라는 3개 유형으로 나누어 살펴본다. 이를 통해 환경조형물이 예술적 가치뿐만 아니라 마을흔적보전이라는 사회적 역사적 문화적 가치를 담아냄으로서 도시재생이 가지고 있는 목표를 실현하는 중요한 요소가 될 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

정부의 중화학공업 육성시책에 힘입어 1976년과 1977년은 각 업체가 심각한 각축전을 벌린 해인 것같다. 1969년에 효성중공업이 154kV 급변압기 개발에 성공한 이래 수년간 독점해오던 초고압 변압기는 1976년 12원에 국제전기가, 1977년 1원에 쌍용전기가, 동년 7월에 대명제작소가 각각 시작품을 성공적으로 제작함으로써 독점시대의 막이 내려가고 치열한 경쟁체제로 돌입하게 됐다. 따라서 국내 수요보다 생산능력이 초과하게 되는 결과가 됐다. 효성중공업은 창원에 대단위 공장을 건설하고 최신시설과 대형 공작기계를 갖춤으로서 345kB 변압기 개발에 착수하였고 현대중공업, 현대양행이 중전기에 코오롱그룹이 국제전기의 경영에 각각 참가하였으며 이천전기는 일본 도시바전기와 합작하고 현대중공업과 현대양행이 참여함으로서 중전기기 분야는 전국시대를 맞는 감이며 치열한 경쟁을 앞으로 면치 못할 것같다.

The value of the Tosi-Hanok have recently been appreciated and accordingly the resultant studies have actively been conducted. This is an attempt to probe our architectural type haying identity through our traditional architecture in Korean society that pursues only something new. But owing to the infusion of foreign cultures and modernization, the archetype of Korean-style house has either been damaged or indiscriminately transformed without the establishment of its proper norms. The understanding of the value of traditional cultures has gradually increased, and accordingly effort to preserve Korean-style houses through legal regulations or systems have continually been made in terms of appearance or cityscape. For this reason, it is thought that it Is insufficient to present the direction or alternative to preservation in relation to the change or use of the interior space with the pattern of requirement for other programs other than dwelling. Therefore, this study attempted to find out the original meaning of Korean-style house by highlighting the advantages of Tosi-Hanok and supplementing its disadvantage while accommodating the diverse requirement for programs as contemporary residential space. And it was intended to propose the model for Tosi-Hanok that accommodates social changes in content while maintaining its meaning by analyzing the Tosi-Hanok with a focus on interior space and preserving historical continuity on its basis.

All kinds of disasters are occurring for several reasons in modern cities. So, We need the disaster management system to deal with them at this point that Those disasters are getting larger and more frequent. We organized the database into three categories; the traffic accident database on traffic accidents that is recognized as a typical disaster resulting from vehicles's increasement rapidly in modern urban life, the gas explosion disaster database on gas explosion that causes to fatal damage through broad areas, and the bridge management database that contains bridge resource information and repair record. In this study, we developed the Disaster Management System using the wireless internet GIS that can access the database and identify field information for the accident area in emergency situation as well as can modify and update the database in field directly, so that can cope with the disaster situations effectively.

This paper aims to explain the Korean urbanization, which can be characterized by the development of apartment complexes and new towns, in relation to urban ideology in Korea. In particular, it examines the impacts of the ideological processes of Gangnam-ization on the ways in which 'the urban' has been represented, imagined, aspired, and consumed by the Korean urban middle class in particular ways. For this research, we interviewed 22 urban middle class people living in three important urban centers (Gangnam, Bundang, and Haeundae).

This paper proposes a new approach to video surveillance systems, which have become essential components in modern urban management. By utilizing blockchain and IPFS, it enhances data integrity and privacy protection. Additionally, anomaly detection and automatic video storage are enabled through object detection technology, thus improving urban safety and security. This integrated approach serves as an efficient management methodology for surveillance systems, providing city administrators and citizens with a safer and more effective monitoring environment.

In Modern Cities, The 'Cultural spaces or facilities' are the core of the urban activity. And it is the field of urban life which can improve the quality of life and change the human's life style. Also in Contemporary society, Cultural spaces are required to express the social and psychological activity of the city life and the diversity and function of human beings. But most of them are located in the Metropolitan area. In these days, the needs of cultural spaces and facilities in 'Medium sized-cities' are growing. And many development plans are working in practice in that cities to accede to these requirements of social, human and current of the times. They include the exhibition spaces which perform function of the field of art and culture, that have powerful and infinite potentiality of the social development. At this Point, this study suggest that 'Optimum level' of exhibition spaces as Museum and Art-gallery in Medium sized-cities. To achieve this study, two phases are proceeded as follows. First, Check the social needs of it based on theoretical inquiry of Exhibition space. Second, Focused on Medium sized-cities, through a comparison between 12 Domestic cities and 4 Japan's cities. A population of their cities is from 500,000 to 1,000,000. We can get a data for Optimum level of Exhibition space. And last, Suggest the strategies of the location and planning of Exhibition space based on Second phase.

Modern urban cities are experiencing various problems like chronic traffic congestion, environmental pollution, reduced open space, shortage of affordable housing, deterioration of old downtown and sprawl. Under these circumstances, the urban sustainability can be grasped in many view points. Among these view points, urban growth management is one of the most recent and important issues that should be implemented by local government for the urban sustainability. This study will investigate the concept of Smart Growth as an executable strategy for the realization of sustainable urban growth management. On the other hand, one of the most important problems that hinder the urban sustainability is the lack of consistency in driving the sustainable strategy originated from the fragility of virtuous cycle of internal organizations themselves. This study will suggest an alternative local government organization model that enables the consistency and virtuous cycle of sustainable urban growth management based upon Regional Innovation System concept.
