  • In this paper, microstrip bandpass filter combined DCRLH metameterial-cells with a hairpin resonator is designed and fabricated to be transferred only fundamental passband signal, and removed a spurious resonant mode occurring when filter design using a microstrip transmission line is done. The bandpass filter is composed of CCRLH hairpin resonator and DCRLH interdigit metameterial-cells. The hairpin resonator with CCRLH property is implemented between two DCRLH interdigit metameterial-cells with DCRLH property, which is parallel to input port and output port. The interdigit metameterial-cells suppress spurious harmonics occurring on the higher order frequency and improve a filter performance. Insertion loss of the fabricated microstrip bandpass filter on the passband from 1.91GHz to 2.41GHz is 0.2dB, and attenuation on the stopband from 3GHz to 7.7GHz is bellower than -30dB. Therefore, this filter has a good performance for both mobile communications of WCDMA and wireless internet of WiBro.

  • In this paper, two types of BPF(Band Pass Filter) which are hair-pin and interdigital have been designed for millimeter-wave application using two types of material which are LCP(Liquid Crystal Polymer) and PTFE(Polytetrafluoroethylene) and also, their performances such as bandwidth, insertion loss, and in-band flatness are compared. The proposed BPF are designed as third-order filters, and their pass band is from 26.5 GHz to 27.3 GHz. Interdigital BPF using PTFE substrate has most wide -3 dB S21 bandwidth of 7.8 GHz and hair-pin BPF using LCP substrate has most narrow -3 dB S21 bandwidth among the proposed four BPF. For in-band insertion loss, hair-pin BPF using PTFE substrate achieves low insertion loss better than -0.667 dB, and hair-pin BPF using LCP substrate exhibits relatively high insertion loss among the proposed four BPF better than -0.937 dB. However, the maximum difference in insertion loss performance among the proposed four BPF is 0.27 dB, which is too small to negligible. For in-band flatness, interdigital BPF using PTFE substrate shows greatest performance of 0.017 dB, and hair-pin BPF using LCP substrate exhibits the lowest performance of 0.07 dB. There are tiny difference in in-band flatness performance of 0.053 dB. As a results, it is considered that the BPF using LCP substrate can derive the performances similar to that of the BPF using PTFE substrate in Millimeter-wave band.

  • In this paper, a $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator is applied to reduce the size of planar resonators for a 2.4 GHz Band LTCC MLC bandpass filter. The $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator operates as stepped impedance resonator (SIR) without changing the width of the planar resonator. It is composed of two sections those are parallel coupled line and transmission line. The characteristic impedance of two sections is different each other. The design formulas of the bandpass filter using the coupling element at the arbitrary position are derived from even and odd-mode analysis. The formulas can take account of the arbitrary coupling of lumped and/or distributed resonators. The advantage of this filter is its abilities to change freely the coupling structure between two resonators. Experimental bandpass filters for 2.4 GHz Band are implemented and their performances are shown.

  • In this paper, for improving the performance of selecting and the sensitivity of the L-Band microwave radiometer for remote sensing of soil-moisture, the harmonic-suppressed hairpin bandpass filter is described. As the harmonic frequencies of the SIR can be controlled by the ratio of the impedance and electrical length, SIRs are used in the hairpin BPF for suppressing harmonics. Manufactured harmonic-suppressed hairpin BPF has the SIRs of three types and its harmonic is suppressed under 35 [dB] until 5 times of the center frequency of 1390 [MHz].

  • In this paper, the equivalent circuit of tapped-line that is applied in the band-pass filter is suggested and the value of an equivalent circuit is mathematically defined. An equivalent circuit of tapped-line is composed by open stub and transmission line that has negative electrical length, and the position of tapped-line and the value of resonator's length can be obtained by the impedance of resonator and the inverter. The new design method using equivalent circuit leads to very good agreement compared with theoretical value. The hair-pin band-pass filter using equivalent circuit of tapped-line shows the insertion loss of 1.1 dB and the return loss of 20 dB at the center frequency of 2 GHz.

  • In this paper, the reduced size of broad bandpass filter with parallel coupled line structure is presented. This proposed filter can control bandwidth of narrow to broadband by adjusting the coupling coefficient. The conventional filter is operated with a narrow band. If a higher bandwidth is desired than the conventional narrow bandwidth, it is hard to realize due to the coupling coefficient between feeding line and resonator. In this paper, to overcome this limitation, a proposed bandpass filter is designed with reduced size due to SIR (Stepped Impedance Resonator), U-shaped open stub with hair-pin and vertical-type structure than conventional one, and it has characteristics of adjusting bandwidth freely as per quantity of coupling coefficient. The proposed bandpass filter that, experimental results of insertion and return losses are 0.42 dB and 24.5 dB with bandwidth of 60 % at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a new design method for narrow bandpass filters using two cascaded hairpin step impedance resonators (SIRs) with wideband harmonic suppression. The proposed bandpass filter utilizes a suspended strip line (SSL) to maximize the characteristic impedance ratio, thereby maximizing the harmonic suppression bandwidth. As an example of the proposed design method, the SSL bandpass filter with a center frequency of $f_0=1.4GHz$ and fractional bandwidth of 5 % was implemented, and proved to suppress harmonics up to $7.5f_0$ with a passband insertion loss of approximately -0.9 dB. This result implies that the proposed SSL narrow bandpass filter (NBPF) can suppress the harmonic bandwidth more than two times as compared with the filter design on a microstrip line (MSL).

  • In this paper, a broadband RF module is designed and tested for 2.4GHz band applications. The RF module is composed of a low noise amplifier (LNA) with a three stage amplifier, a single ended gate mixer, matching circuits, a hairpin line band pass filter and a Chebyshev low pass filter to convert the radio frequency (RF) into the intermediate frequency (IF). The LNA has a high gain and stability, and the single ended gate mixer has a high conversion gain and wide dynamic range. In the analysis of the broadband RF module, the composite harmonic balance technique is used to analyze the operating characteristics of an RF module circuit. The RF module has a 55.2dB conversion gain with a 1.54dB low noise figure, $-120{\sim}-60dBm$ wide RF power dynamic range, -60dBm low harmonic spectrum and a good isolation factor among the RF, IF, and local oscillator (LO) ports.
