This article shows how the university can contribute to regional development through its public services. To that end, this article firstly tried to examine the functions and activities of the universities in civic engagement. Secondly the actual contents and various programs of the Chonnam National University located in Kwangju, South Korea are analyzed as a case study. It is seen that Chonnam National University is emphasizing the civic engagements in terms of continuing educations, openings of the facilities, and volunteers services or social works of the students. But the more active connections between university and its community are still needed for the enhanced responsibility of the faculty about public services and for the enduring civic engagements.

소비자에게 다양한 서비스 제공이 가능한 디지털TV산업은 국내에서 반도체와 휴대전화를 잇는 새로운 수익원으로 부각되면서 어떤 산업보다도 높은 기대를 받고 있다. 디지털TV는 가전과 IT의 결합으로 대표되는 정보가전의 중심축이자, 핵심 애플리케이션이 될 것으로 기대된다. 디지털TV산업이 활성화 되면서 셋톱박스시장에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있어 현 시장에 대한 분석과 전망을 통한 구체적 전략이 필요하다.

한국가톨릭의료협회는 지난 2006년 9월 4일부터 12일까지 9일간의 일정으로 몽골 자갈란트 지역에서 해외의료지원사업을 추진했다. 이번 해외의료지원사업의 준비과정 및 경과사항 등 전반적인 사업현황을 되짚어 보고 한국가톨릭협회의 핵심으로 자리잡고 있는 해외의료지원사업의 미래 방향을 제시해 본다.

Since 1980's, the opportunities of higher education have increased absolutely to the extent worrying of over-education. The over-education means that job-seekers having a bachelor degree flow into job market much more than necessary and the problem of unemployment and under-employment becomes more serious. These changes in the labor market can affect the university selection behaviors of high school graduates. This study aims to reveal the impacts of over-education in Chungbuk, a periphery region, Korea. As expected, many of college graduates flow down into jobs asking school years less than higher education. On the other hand, high school graduates have an tendency of choosing a college, especially a college in center region, other than universities in Chungbuk, to expect more stable and rewarding job in income and upward mobility after the graduation of higher education. As the result of this, a regional university district, which means most of students in the region enter college within region limit, is getting broken into more smaller districts, a kind of local district. It can be thought as a sign that the dominance of regional center is weakening and more cities in the region receive a direct affects from center region, not through regional center.

The objective of this study is to propose the operational organization and connective cooperation plan for the Daegu regional central library which will be completed in 2020. The vision of regional central library was presented as 'the library for the happiness of Daegu citizens and the cradle of knowledge and culture', and 10 core functions also proposed. In order to fulfill the roles as a regional central library, it has been suggested to maintain 5 departments including the department of administrative support, the department of library policy, the department of collection development, the department of information service, and the department of cooperative preservation. Lastly, it has also established the model of connective cooperation plans between other regional libraries and the regional central library as follows: the construction and operation of cooperative system, connective cooperation for the construction of Daegu collaborative repository, cooperative library system of ILL/DDS.
