3-D Sound-Field Creation Implementing the Virtual Reality Ship Handling Simulator(I): HRTF Modeling (가상 현실 선박 조종 시뮬레이터 구현을 위한 3차원 음장생성(I) : 머리전달함수 모델링)

  • This paper describes elemental technologies for the creation of three-dimensional(3-D) sound-field to implement the next-generation Ship Handling Simulator with human -computer interaction, known as Virtual Reality. In the virtual reality system, Head-Related Transfer Functions(HRTF's) are used to generate 3-D sound environmental context. Where, the HRTF's are impulse response characterizing the acoustical transformation in a space. This work is divided into two parts, the part Ⅰis mainly for the model constructions of the HRTF's, the part Ⅱis for the control of 3-D sound-field by using the HRTF's . In this paper, as first part, we search for the theory to formulate models of the HRTF's which reduce the dimensionalityof the formulation without loss of any directional information . Using model HRTF's we report results from psychophysical tests used to asses the validity of the proposed modleing method.

  • Recently , there have been considerable researches about the fusion of fuzzy logic and neural networks. The propose of thise researches is to combine the advantages of both. After the function of approximation using GMDP (Generalized Multi-Denderite Product)neural network for defuzzification operation of fuzzy controller, a new fuzzy-neural network is proposed. Fuzzy membership function of the proposed fuzzy-neural network can be adjusted by learning in order to be adaptive to the variations of a parameter or the external environment. To show the applicability of the proposed fuzzy-nerual network, the proposed model is applied to a speed control o fDC sevo motor. By the hardware implementation, we obtained the desriable results.

  • 선박의 운항분포는 교량충돌확률이나 선박충돌위험도 등을 계산할 때 매우 중요한 요인으로 작용하지만, AASHTO모델이나 해상교통안전진단에서의 근접도 평가모델 등 많은 충돌 또는 위험도 계산 모델에서는 선박의 운항분포가 단순한 정규분포임을 가정하고 있다. 따라서 특정 항로나 해역에서의 정확한 충돌, 위험 또는 안전 등에 관한 확률을 구하고자 할 경우에는 그 항로나 해역의 특성에 맞는 선박 운항분포를 사용해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 일주일간의 통항선박 위치정보(AIS정보)를 이용하여 다양한 특성을 가지는 항로별로 각각 고유한 특성의 선박 운항분포를 찾아내기 위해, sech 함수를 이용한 새로운 충돌위험도 평가법에서 피항구역의 문턱값을 결정하는 방법을 분석하고 실제 상황에 적용 가능한 식을 개발하였다.

A Study on Response Functions of Manoeuvring Motion of a Ship in Regular Waves (규칙파에 대한 조종운동의 응답함수에 관한 고찰)

  • Final aim of this paper is a study on simulation of automatic steering of a ship in random seas. In order to achieve this aim, we need excitation due to random seas. The excitation may be estimated from energy spectrum of irregular waves and response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. This paper deals with response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. We discussed New Strip Method(NSM) of sway-yaw-roll coupled motions in regular waves. NSM is defined in space axes system and that has been used to predict seakeeping performance of a ship in waves. But ship manoeuvring is defined in body fixed axes system. So we cannot use NSM theory itself in predicting manoeuvring performance of a ship in waves. We introduced relationship between space axes system and body fixed axes system. And we developed modified NSM which was defined in body fixed axes system and was able to be used in manoeuvring motion of a ship in waves. We calculated sway and yaw response functions of manoeuvring motion of a bulk carrier in regular waves.

  • 카캐리어선에 화물을 선적하기 위해서는 각 화물의 선적 순서와 위치를 결정해야 하며, 이를 선적 계획이라 한다. 선적 계획은 선박의 무게 중심과 공간 손실률, 화물 재취급(re-handling) 횟수를 최소화하도록 수립된다. 최적의 선적 계획을 수립하기 위해서는 여러 후보 선적 계획들을 평가하여 적합도(fitness)가 가장 높은 것을 탐색하여야 한다. 하지만 화물 종류의 수와 도착지의 수가 증가할수록 후보 선적 계획의 수가 증가하게 되어, 탐색 시간과 계산 비용이 커지는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 탐색 공간이 매우 큰 환경에서 최적의 선적 계획을 효율적으로 탐색하기 위해 유전 알고리즘(genetic algorithm)을 사용한다. 또한, 선박의 무게 중심과 공간 손실률, 화물 재취급 횟수로 목적 함수(objective function)를 구성하여 최적 선적 계획을 탐색한다. 실험 결과, 휴리스틱(heuristic) 방식보다 공간 손실률과 재취급 횟수가 향상되었으며, 특히 재취급 횟수는 70% 감소하였다.

  • In this study, as the preliminary step for developing an unmanned vehicle to deliver a container-box, we designed and implemented Automatic Guided Vehicle(AGV) Simulator for the purpose of Port Facilities Automation. It is preferable to research the intelligent AGV for delivery all day long. For complementing AGV simulator driving, we used multiple-sensor systems with vision, ultrasonic, IR and adapted the high-speed wireless LAN that satisfies the IEEE 802.11 Standard for bi-directional communication between main processor in AGV and Host computer. Here, we mounted on bottom frame in AGV Pentium-III processor, which combine and compute the information from each sensor system and control the AGV driving, and used the 80C196KC micro-controller to control the actuating and steering motors.

  • The final goal of this research is to establish the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance. This D/B is, essential to develope the seakeeping performance evaluation system built-on-ship. The system is composed of the apparatus for measuring a vertical acceleration to be generated by the ship's motions, computer for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index and monitor for displaying the evaluating diagram of navigational safety of ship. In this paper, a methodology on the establishment of the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance is presented by a numerical simulations, playing an important role on the algorithm of the program for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index. Finally, It is investigated whether the relative dangerousness D/B can be realized an accurate values according to the loading conditions, weather conditions, wave directions and present ship's speed of a model ship.

The Extreme Value Analysis of Deepwater Design Wave Height and Wind Velocity off the Southwest Coast (남서 해역 심해 설계 파고 및 풍속의 극치분석)

  • When we design coastal and harbol facilities deepwater design wave and wind speed are the important design parameters. Especially, the analysis of these informations is a vital step for the point of disaster prevention. In this study, we made and an extreme value analysis using a series of deep water significant wave data arranged in the 16 direction and supplied by KORDI real-time wave information system ,and the wind data gained from Wan-Do whether Station 1978-2003. The probability distributions considered in this characteristic analysis were the Weibull, the Gumbel, the Log-Pearson Type III, the Normal, the Lognormal, and the Gamma distribution. The parameter for each distribution was estimated by three methods, i.e. the method of moments, the maximum likelihood, and the method of probability weight moments. Furthermore, probability distributions for the extreme data had been selected by using Chi-square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test within significant level of 5%, i,e. 95% reliance level. From this study we found that Gumbel distribution is the most proper model for the deep water design wave height off the southwest coast of Korea. However the result shows that the proper distribution made for the selected site is varied in each extreme data set.

  • This study aims to investigate the characteristics of wave generation in a deep ocean engineering basin and to develop a meta-model of the transfer function of the wavemaker that reflects the geometric characteristics of the deep ocean engineering basin. To this end, the two-dimensional frequency domain boundary element method was applied to achieve an efficient analysis that reflects the geometric characteristics of the deep ocean engineering basin. The developed numerical method was validated through comparison with the analytical solution. Numerical analyses were conducted for the boundary value problem of the wavemaker according to various periods and the positions of the movable bottom. The numerical results were used to investigate the effect of the geometric characteristics of the deep ocean engineering basin on the transfer function of the wavemaker, and the effect of depth on wave generation was checked by changing the position of the movable bottom. To efficiently utilize the various results of the boundary element method, a meta-model, an approximate model of the transfer function of the wave maker, was developed using a thin plate spline interpolation model. The validity of the developed meta-model was confirmed through a comparison of the results of the model tests.

  • The container crane is one of the most important equipments at container terminal. If its working time in cycle could be reduced then container terminal efficiency and service level can be increased. So there are many i1forts to reduce working time of container cranes. It means how to design the controller with good performance which has small overshoot and swing motion of container crane. We, in this paper, present a state feedback controller based on LQ theory incorporating a RCGA which means real-coded genetic algorithm RCGA can search state feedback gains under given objective function. A set of simulation works are carried out in order to prove the control effectiveness of the proposed methods.
