EFFECT OF BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE ON DENTIN BONDING WITH NTG-GMA/BPDM AND DSDM SYSTEM (Benzalkonium Chloride가 NTG-GMA/BPDM계 및 DSDM계 상아질접착제의 접착성능에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of benzalkonium chloride solution as a wetting agent instead of water on dentin bonding with NTG-GMA/BPDM system (All-bond 2, Bisco.) and DSDM system (Aelitebond, Bisco.). Benzalkonium chloride solution is a chemical disinfectant widely used in medical and dental clinics for preoperative preparation of skin and mucosa due to its strong effect of cationic surface active detergent. Eighty freshly extracted bovine lower incisor were grinded labially to expose flat dentin surface, and then were acid-etched with 10 % phosphoric acid for 15 second, water-rinsed, and dried for 10 second with air syringe. The specimens were randomly divided into 8 groups of 10 teeth. The specimens of control group were remoistured with water and the specimens of experimental groups were remoistured with 0.1 %, 0.5 %, and 1.0 % benzalkonium chloride solution respectively. And then, the Aelitefil composite resin was bonded to the pretreated surface of the specimens by use of All-bond 2 dentin bonding system or Aelitebond dentin bonding system in equal number of the specimens. The bonded specimens were stored in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours, then the tensile bond strength was measured, the mode of failure was observed, the fractured dentin surface were examined under scanning electron microscopy, and FT-IR spectroscopy was taken for the purpose of investigating the changes of the dentin surface pretreated with benzal konium chloride solution followed by each primer of the dentin bonding systems. The results were as follows : In the group of bonding with NTG-GMA/BPDM dentin bonding agent(All-bond 2), higher tensile bond strength was only seen in the experimental group remoistured with 0.1 % benzal konium chloride solution than that in water-remoistured control group(p<0.05). In the group of bonding with DSDM dentin bonding agent (Aelitebond), no significant differences were seen between the control and each one of the experimental group(p<0.05). Higher tensile bond strength were seen in NTG-GMAIBPDM dentin bonding agent group than in DSDM dentin bonding agent group regardless of remoistur ization with benzal konium chloride solution. On the examination of failure mode, cohesive and mixed failure were predominantly seen in the group of bonding with NTG-GMAIBPDM dentin bonding agent, while adhesive failure was predominantly seen in the group of bonding with DSDM dentin bonding agent. On SEM examination of fractured surfaces, no differences of findings of primed dentin surface between the groups with and without remoisturization with benzal konium chloride solution. FT-IR spectroscopy taken from the control and the experimental group reve::.led that some higher absorbance derived from the primers binding to dentin surface was seen at the group pretreated with 0.1 % benzal konium chloride solution than at the control group of remoisturizing with water.

EFFECT OF TEMPORARY CEMENT ON TENSILE BOND STRENGTH OF DENTIN BONDING AGENT (Temporary Cement가 상아질 접착제의 접착성능에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to the effect of temporary cement on the adhesiveness of dentin bonding agent to dentin surface. One hundred freshly extracted bovine mandibular incisors were grinded to expose flat labial dentin surface. The dentin surfaces were temporarized with either eugenol-containing temporary cement(TemBond and Zinc Oxide Eugenol cement) or non-eugenol temporary cement(Nogenol and TempBond NE) for 7days, and then the temporarization was removed with surgical currette and the exposed dentin surfaces were water-rinsed. Bonding specimens were made by use of All-Bond 2 and Super-Bond C&B dentin bonding agent, and stored in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24hours. The tensile bond strenth and the cohesive failure rate were measured, and then the pretreated dentin surfaces which the temporary cement had been applied to and removed from and the fractured dentin surfaces after bonding test were examined under scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows : In case of bonding with All-Bond 2, tensile bond strength of each experimental group was lower than that of the control group(p<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the bond strengths of the control group and each experimental group in case of bonding with Super-Bond C&B(p>0.05). No significant difference between tensile bond strength of experimental group, whether temporary cement contains eugenol or not, was seen(p>0.05). In case of bonding with All-Bond 2, the control group showed cohesive-adhesive mixed failure mode and the experimental groups mainly showed adhesive failure mode, but in case of bonding with Super-Bond C&B, almost of the control and the experimental groups mainly showed cohesive failure mode. On SEM examination, all of the dentin specimens pretreated with either 10 % phosphoric acid or 10% citric acid after application of the temporary cements demonstrated remnants of temporary cement attached to dentin surface.

Critical Temperature for Early Marginal Transplanting of Japonica Rice in Korea (우리나라 자포니카 벼 품종의 조기이앙 한계온도 분석)

  • We investigated critical temperature for early marginal transplanting (CT-EMT) of the contemporary japonica rice varieties in Korea through the field, pot seedling tray, and the phytotron experiments during 2020 to 2023. The lowest mean temperature for 10 days from transplanting (MT-10DFT) that resulted in earlier heading date was 12.4℃ and the highest MT-10DFT that did not show the earlier heading date was 12.0℃ in the field study when the MT-10DFT varied by changing transplanting date. The lowest MT-10DFT that induced the increased biomass but not the earlier heading date was 11.6℃ and the highest MT-10DFT that showed neither the increased biomass nor the earlier heading date was 11.4℃. Compared to the 10-day later transplanting, the dates of the first root development, initiation of the chlorophyll recovery, and the first tiller development were earlier when the MT-10DFT was 9.1℃ or higher, 10.5℃ or higher, and 11.6℃ or higher, respectively, in the pot seedling tray and field experiments. The earliness of the first tiller development was a practical index for the estimation of CT-EMT during the early growth stage of rice. The response of transplanted rice to temperature treatments with the diurnal change of 10℃ in the phytotron study was similar to that shown in the field study. The data shown for constant temperature without a diurnal change revealed that the extent of positive effects of high temperature at day-time was greater than the extent of negative effects of low temperature at night-time on the early growth of transplanted rice. It was concluded that the critical MT-10DFT for early marginal transplanting of japonica rice in the temperate environments was between 11.4 to 11.6℃ based on the plant growth and between 12.0 to 12.4℃ based on the plant development.

강릉연안 토종 다시마의 양식 연구

  • 동해안의 강릉 연안에 자생하는 토종 다시마인 개다시마는 산업적으로 개발의 여지가 매우 크다. 그러나 천연 자원량에 의존하고 있는 가공산업은 해황에 따라 원료 공급이 좌우되는 불안정성을 가지고 있어서 이 식물의 산업적 생산량을 확보하기 위한 방안으로 대량양식의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 동해안 토종 다시마인 개다시마의 종묘생산기술 개발을 위해서 항온배양기와 실내수조배양을 실시하고 바다 가이식 양성에 의한 환경적응성 실험을 수행하였다. 연구 방법은 2001년 10월에 강릉연안 수심 20m에서 분포하는 개다시마 군락의 모조로부터 유주자액을 받아 온도 5, 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$, 조도 40, 80, 120 $\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$의 조건에서 6주간 정치배양하였다. 유주자의 발아 및 아포체 생장 실험 이후 바다 가이식 및 양성실험은 2002년 1~2월까지 1개월간 실시하였다. 유주자의 발아 및 아포체 형성은 1$0^{\circ}C$, 120$\mu$mo1 m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 배양 2주만에 가장 먼저 아포체의 발아가 관찰되었으며, 이후 15$^{\circ}C$와 5$^{\circ}C$에서 순차적으로 아포체의 발아가 이루어졌다. 2$0^{\circ}C$는 80, 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 소수의 아포체만이 관찰되었으며, $25^{\circ}C$에서는 아포체가 형성되지 않았다. 아포체는 1$0^{\circ}C$에서 가장 좋은 생장을 보였고, 15$^{\circ}C$와 1$0^{\circ}C$에서는 비슷한 생장을 나타냈으며, 2$0^{\circ}C$에서는 80$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서만 아포체의 형성이 관찰되어 가장 낮은 생장을 보였다. 동일 온도에서는 조도에 따른 생장의 차이가 많이 났는데, 40$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 가장 좋은 생장을 나타냈다. 80과 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서는 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$이 약간 좋은 생장을 보였지만 큰 차이는 나지 않았다. 생장이 가장 좋은 조건은 1$0^{\circ}C$, 40$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$으로 엽장 1.28mm까지 생장했다. 전체적으로 수심이 깊은 곳에 서식하는 특성상 저수온과 저조도에서 좋은 생장 경향을 보였다. 실내배양을 통해 얻은 엽장 약 1~2mm의 종묘를 2002년 1월말에 삼척 호산에 위치한 바다 양성장에서 종묘들과 함께 2주간 수심별로 가이식(수온 12$^{\circ}C$)을 실시한 결과, 수심 1m에서 좋게 나타나 엽장이 약 5mm정도 생장하였다. 수심 0m에서는 강한 조도에 의해 엽상체가 사그라드는 기형이 나타났으며, 수심 5m에서는 엽상체의 기형이나 생장의 차이는 없었지만, 색택이 약간 바랜 것을 볼 수 있었다. 종합적으로 볼 때 종묘의 관리나 생장에는 수심 1~2m가 양호할 것으로 생각된다. 바다 가이식을 통해 엽장 5mm의 종묘로 생장시킨 후 바로 본양성장에 씨줄감기를 하여 양성을 실시하였다 양성 1개월 후 엽상체는 약 2~3cm, 최대 4~5cm까지 생장하였다. 이를 통해 강릉연안 토종 다시마인 개다시마에 대한 종묘 생산과 대량 양성의 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • A series of experiments were conducted on procedures of $N_2$ fixation measurements with soybean (Glycine max. L.) root nodules by acetylene reducing assay and estimation of amounts of $N_2$ fixed by soybean root nodules grown in the pot. The results are summarized as follows; 1. In case of nitrogen fixing activities were determined by means of acetylene reducing method, more appropriates results were obtained with direct determination of root nodules which was adhering from root under 2 hours after incubation, while more fluctuated data was obtained with root nodules determined under separated conditions. 2. The weight of soybean nodules was linearly increased from 17 days to 55 days after planting, whereas, the amounts of $N_2$ fixation from soybean nodules were Peaked at 38 days after planting, and declined thereafter. 3. When calculated upon the basis of the amounts of $N_2$ fixed as measured by acetylene reducing activities in single soybean plant, it was found that the average amount of symbiotic $N_2$ fixation falls in the range of 80 kg N per ha.

Studies on coagulation of cheese curd by immobilized Mucor spp L42 milk clotting enzyme (고정화 Mucor SPP L42 응유효소를 이용한 치즈커드 형성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to study of practical purpose of immobilized Mucor spp L42 milk clotting enzyme on activated succimylamino-propyl glass beads with glutaraldehyde in continuous curd coagulation, acidified milk(pH5.6, $8^{\circ}C$) was treated through reactor packed with immobilized beads, and warmed at $30^{\circ}C$ and allowed to coagulation for the determination of enzyme stability, deactivation of milk clotting ability by continuous reaction, the beads treatment conditions, and contact time of milk and beads in reactors. The results obtained were summarized as follow ; 1) After 3 month's storage, activity of immobilized Mucor spp L42 milk clotting enzyme in 0.2M phosphate buffer(pH 4.6) with 0.06% sodium azide was only 80% of initial activity. 2) Milk clotting activity of the beads was decreased by continuouse exposure on acidified skim milk. Nitrogen accumulation on the beads paralled loss of the activity in initial reaction stage. 3) After 6 hours continuous treatment of the beads at 60 sec/ml surface time, the milk-clotting activity of the beads was about 70% of initial activity. 4) Bead reactor and shaking bed reactor were more effective than column reactor on continuouse skim milk coagulation.

  • To enhance the energy saving and comfort of indoors, this study performed a stimulation of sound fluctuation, color temperature, and aroma. The experiment with EEG, HRV, and Vibra images was conducted in an environmental test room with a temperature of $25[^{\circ}C]$, relative humidity of 50[RH%], air current speed of 0.002[m/s], and illuminance of 1000[lux]. The stimulation experiment set up different sensory stimulation conditions, such as before exposure, single-sensory stimulation of fluctuation a=1.106 jazz music, single-sensory stimulation of RED color lighting, single-sensory stimulation of scent aroma, and multi-sensory stimulation of fluctuation a=1.106 jazz music, RED color lighting, and scent aroma. After the multi-sensory stimulation of fluctuation a=1.106 jazz music, RED color lighting and scent aroma, the capacity for work and attention were increased, and the stress index and fatigue degree were decreased. In addition, multi-sensory stimulation of fluctuation a=1.106 jazz music, RED color lighting, and scent aroma were effective in maintaining a stable heart and health. In addition, the Vibra image appeared to decrease tension/anxiety and stress. The multi-sensory stimulation of fluctuation a=1.106 jazz music, RED color lighting, and scent aroma help increase the Neuro-energy more than that by no exposure and single-sensory stimulation.

The Study about Improvement of Neuro Energy Decreased by Energy Saving (에너지절감에 의해 감소되는 뉴로에너지의 증강에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined energy saving and elevating the worker's neuro energy (comfort, concentration, physical, and psychological stability) by compensating for the unpleasant tactile sensation to stimulate auditory and olfactory senses and reduce energy consumption. The experiment was conducted in an environment test room under the test conditions of temperature $25[^{\circ}C]$, relative humidity 50[RH%], illumination 1,000[lux] and air current speed 0.02[m/sec] by stimulating the auditory senses with a 1/f change in rhythm and the olfactory senses with an aroma scent. The experiment utilized the method of EEG, which evaluates human body's psychological status via tactile means, and the method of the vibra image, which evaluates the learning abilities, HRV and human body's psychological status via non-tactile means. The subjects were selected as eight university students (four males and four females) in their 20s, the type that have high relative ${\alpha}$(8~13[Hz]) activation in occipital lobe, which brings the highest level of mind stability and concentration, who had no difficulty in physical activities. The subjects' posture and physical activity was fixed to 1met - when the subjects are seated and relaxing in a comfortable environment - and their clothes condition was standardized as 0.7clo. As a result, the sentimental and psychological stability and concentration were the highest in the multisensory stimulation of jasmine scent and change rhythm of an a=1.106 sound source. In addition, under this condition, the relative $M{\alpha}$ and relative $M{\beta}$ increased by 70.49[%] and 89.72[%], respectively; the HRT decreased by 39.09[%]; and the fatigue and tension/anxiety decreased by 36.85[%] and 15.54[%], respectively.

Effects of an In-package Oxygen Scavenger on the Stability of Deep-fried Instant Noodle (인스탄트 라면의 안정성(安定性)에 대한 탈산소제(脫酸素劑)의 효과(效果))

  • Deep-fried instant noodle was prepared on a laboratory scale (150 units). A part of the noodle was packed in gas-proof laminated film bags with a small package of an oxygen scavenger made from Fe-powder and a 150 ml of air in each bag(Sample 1). Another part was packed in ordinary laminated film bags (Control), and the rest was vacuum-packed (74 mmHg) in the gas-proof film bags (Sample 2). All samples were placed in an incubator kept at $45.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ for 45 days. Oxygen-removing power of the scavenger, and peroxide and thiobarbituric acid values of the samples were determined regulary. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The residual oxygen concentration of the bags in Sample 1 decreased from the original 21% to less than 0. 5% after 48 hr. 2. POVs of Control, Samples 1 and 2 after 45 days were $12.4{\pm}0.4$, $5.7{\pm}0.2$ and $6.8{\pm}0.1\;meq/㎏$ fat respectively. It was noteworthy that the POV of Sample 1 did not change significantly during the storage period. The scavenger seemed very effective in retarding the POV development of Sample 1. 3. TBA values of Control, Sample 1 and 2 after 45 days were $1.31{\pm}0.04$, $0.60{\pm}0.04$, and $0.72{\pm}0.07$. As in the case of POVs, the samples packed with the scavengers exhibited consistently smaller TBA values than the vacuum-packed samples in later stages of the storage period.

Quality Characteristics of Ginger(Zingiber officinale Roscoe) as the Ripening Periods (생강(Zingiber officinale Roscoe)의 숙성기간에 따른 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted to demonstrate quality characteristics of ginger by making aged ginger( AG) with two methods, the frist method was that ginger was aged at constant temperature and humidity chamber for the duration of 10, 20 and 30 days, and the other method was drying the ginger just after steaming it for 3 hours. As the age was being processed, the volume of ginger's appearance decreased rapidly and its color seemed to be darker because of the decrease in moisture. In the case of general components, the content of crude ash was depended on aged periods while the content of crude fat was independent with aged periods, and according to the content of crude protein, there was not any significant differences. The main valuable ingredient which is 6-gingerol showed the decreasing trend as it was exposed to heat with more time, and 6-shogaol which is also one of the main valuable ingredients showed high content at T-II(AG-10days). Free sugar and free amino acid of AG decreased as aged period goes by, and this study found that there were lots of essential amino acid (threonine, glutamic acid, alanine, valine, leucine and tyrosine) in ginger. The amount of unsaturated fatty acid of AG was significantly higher than the amount of saturated fatty acid of AG with the approximate ratio of 60:40, and the amount of free fatty acid of AG did not seem any big differences between AG and none AG. Considering both valuable ingredients and nutritive components, T-I (steamed ginger, SG) and T-II which was aged for 10 days were evaluated excellently.
