  • Design of a weapon-carrier type of missile requires to provide a highly reliable mechanism of airframe separation and air stabilizer deployment which enables the safe release of payload at high-speed flight conditions. This mechanism is characterized by a relative dynamic motion of multiple separated bodies, proceeding as swiftly as hundreds of milli-seconds, so that the use of modeling & simulation(M&S)techniques could play a crucial role in the design. This paper presents an M&S technique which has been developed for a design of anti-submarine missile employing a clamshell type of airframe separation, and shows some major results of simulation compared to available flight test results. Emphasis of the current study was laid on a proper balance between the quick calculation, which is essential for practical design application, and the credibility of the results.

  • The GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver for satellite launch vehicles which will be mounted on a launch vehicle can be applied to the flight safety system with its accurately calculated position and velocity data during vehicle's flight. This paper analyzes the performance of the GPS receiver such as SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio), fix mode, position and velocity error, number of visible and tracking satellites, and PDOP(Position Dilution of Precision) under temperature variation which is changed from -34$^{\circ}C$ to +71$^{\circ}C$.

  • Calibration mirror mechanism has been widely used for on-board calibration with black body. The calibration mirror is deployed to reflect the radiation energy from the black body to the image sensor for calibrating the sensor system. After the calibration, the calibration mirror is stowed not to hide a main optical path. It also has a fail-safe function which can stow the mirror by just removing the input power of motor when the calibration mirror is stopped at certain position during the calibration. In the present work, the operation concept, design, torque analysis and functional test results of the calibration mirror mechanism with the aforementioned function have been introduced and investigated.

  • In this paper, there is analyzed the disturbances to impact on COMS attitude and the attitude error using the received telemetries in KARI ground station during normal mode of COMS. COMS was launched successfully at Kourou, French Guiana on the 26th of June, 2010. Up to now after IOT(in-orbit test), COMS is performing well the main mission to measure meteorology and ocean during about half and one year. The disturbances to impact on COMS attitude are mostly by the Sun, by the motion of payload mirror and by the spike happened during operation of earth sensor mirror and wheel. The analysis result on the other cases happened rarely during the nominal operation, is summarized.

  • A measurement of spacecraft alignment is an important process of spacecraft assembly, integration and test. Because, it is necessary that a operator of a ground station controls the precise positions of on-orbit spacecraft by using the alignment data of attitude orbit control sensors(AOCS) on spacecraft. And, an accuracy of spacecraft alignment requirement is about $0.1^{\circ}{\sim}0.7^{\circ}$. A spacecraft alignment is measured by autocollimation of theodolite. This paper describes the measurement principle and method of spacecraft alignment. The result shows that all the AOCS on the spacecraft are aligned within the tolerance required through the alignment measurement.

  • Telemetry link is dynamic communication link that antenna gain and polarization are varying with the movement of the airplane. In this paper we calculated the antenna gain, polarization mismatch using the flight trajectory, motion of the airplane and 3D antenna pattern. And we modeled the multipath environment to the 2-Ray spherical earth reflection geometry, estimated the received signal strength when the narrow beam antenna received the RF signal transmitted from the airplane. Also we performed the flight test and after comparing measured value with the estimated value, we confirmed to almost coincide with each other.

  • In this paper, vSLAM aided integrated navigation system is implemented and performance analysis of the system is completed via flight test. The system can suppress divergence of position error of INS only system by updating vSLAM correction information when temporary GPS signal outage occurs in bad radio condition. In the flight test, integrated hardware containing GPS, IMU and camera is loaded under RC electric helicopter. Performance of the integrated navigation system is verified by comparing estimated position of INS/vSLAM system with that of INS only system.

  • Verification and validation of operational software of the flight control computer, which is flight safety critical, is very important to prove correctness and faultness of the software. To verify the real-time softare requirement on operational software of flight control computer, real-time software internal parameter and variable monitoring technics on hardware-in-the-loop environment, similar to on-flight environment, is required. This paper describes flight safety critical software validation and verificiation environment using standard debugging interface, NEXUS 5001.

  • Accurate alignment between high-performance payloads and attitude control sensors is essential factor to guarantee accurate attitude orientation and high pointing stability of the satellite. Space craft developers often use theodolite measurement system for satellite alignment during ground AIT(Assembly Integration and Test) phase. When measuring theodolite, errors may occur due to line of sight error, tilting axis error, vertical index error, and vertical axis error. In addition, errors that can occur during alignment measurements with multiple theodolites are analyzed through the alignment cube measurements test. Based on the alignment cube measurements test, a technical method that can improve the alignment measurement accuracy was suggested and it's measurements results satisfied the satellite design requirements.

Lightning induced surge voltage is bring a malfunction or damage to the aircraft electrical and electronic equipment, that is referred to indirect effects of lightning. In order to protect the electronic equipment on aircraft from the indirect effects of lightning, that is achieved by analyzing the effect on aircraft from lightning and protect design for each devices. In this paper, we introduce an indirect lightning strike level decisions, the protection circuit design method according to the chosen level through the RTCA DO-160G Section 22 category analysis and selection was performed in order to protect the damage caused by indirect lightning strikes in the protected equipment. In addition, we show the indirect lightning effects verification test performed to validate the designed protection circuits.
