  • In this article, we verify to influence in the management performance by the safety management system that is recommended by the ICAO for the safety management on the airside area in the airport. Also, We present a comprehensive mediator effect that the employees perceive safety culture and safety behavior. We design how participants were selected as study the employees from 4 airports on the airside areas of the Incheon International Airport, Gimpo International Airport, Jeju International Airport and Gimhae International Airport in the Korea using the simple random sampling method. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire, and it was developed. Data analysis was to conduct structural equation modeling. Test of the hypotheses were verified to Maximum Likelihood Estimator. As a result of the analysis, safety behavior and risk management of the safety management system found out that affect management performance. Also, the employees of a high awareness about safety policy could be seen that is a high impact on management performance through a safety culture and a safety behavior. Safety behavior has significant mediator effect within the relationship between the safety management system and management performance. So, We provide guidance of the safety policies for the safety management on the airside area in the airport.

  • The world air transport industry has grown steadily with quantitative expansion. The volume of air transport in the world is skyrocketing with the open-sky trend. Air passengers from or to South Korea has shown 5% of annual growth for the last couple of decades which caused South Korea now ranking in 18th in the World for air transport market size. Quantitative expansion of Air transport affects in policy making of air transport operators, such as airports, airlines or authorities, directly and indirectly. Especially, Aviation Safety field should be supported by policy regime with the growth of air transport volume, assured resources for continuous monitoring is standing out as a vital factor. This study is to estimate social costs caused by aviation accidents and investment costs for aviation safety by airports, airlines and authorities as operators. Estimated investment costs for aviation safety verified by comparing and analysing them. Precedent studies were reviewed to refer research methodology to calculate aviation accident costs and safety costs of operators. Safety costs of operators was calculated with literature researches and interview surveys among professionals of each operators in rational range.

  • AeroMACS spectrum is a national resource internationally allocated by ITU at WRC-07. AeroMACS is an airport broadband mobile communication infrastructure based on WiMAX-based IEEE 802.16e that enables real-time video, graphics, voice, and high-speed data transmission. With the approval of ICAO's development technology standards in 2008, 50 airports in 11 countries have already completed the testing of D-TAXI or A-SMGCS technology using the AeroMACS infrastructure in 2019, starting in the United States in 2009. With many advantages in safety and convenience in terrestrial telecommunications operations, the system is becoming an area of performance improvement for airport operations in accordance with ICAO's ASBU plan. This paper examines the current status of domestic development of AeroMACS and lists service areas applicable to airlines and operators. It also seeks to promote safe and efficient next-generation airport mobile communication system services by presenting feasible partners management in the mobile area and use of aircraft communication systems for active technology development.

  • The traditional regulatory approach to managing pilots fatigue has been to prescribe limits on maximum daily, monthly, and yearly flight and duty hours, and require minimum breaks within and between duty periods. This approach comes from a long history of limits on working hours dating back to the industrial revolution. So, the Council of ICAO recently adopted International Commercial Air Transport regarding the development and implementation of fatigue risk management systems(FRMS). The FRMS can provide better safety outcomes than current prescriptive flight and duty regulations while allowing greater operational flexibility. This study aim to analyzing relative importance of pilots' fatigue factors in order to minimize pilots' fatigue-related safety risks. More researches regarding monitoring and managing fatigue, based upon scientific principles, are required in the future.

  • There are various systems that allow humans to safely maintain their space exploration missions and lives in completely different environments, such as the International Space Station, the Moon (the closest celestial body to Earth), and Mars (the only planet in the solar system for manned mission in the 2030s). Among them, when it comes to maintaining the basic breathing of humans, the human life support air management system is a key device system. Such an air management system can be used not only for space exploration but also for undersea bases and submarines on Earth where humans reside. The air management system basically consists of an oxygen generation system, a carbon dioxide removal system, and a harmful substance removal system. In this paper, in order to develop an air management system that can be used in an underwater residential platform, the development requirements of a ground test module to be used as an experimental facility were analyzed.
