A Study of the Construction of Comprehensive Flight Testing Infrastructure to Increase Aviation Safety (항공안전 증진을 위한 비행종합시험 인프라 구축 방안 연구)

  • As demand for drone test flight is rapidly increasing, it is difficult for Goheung Aviation Center alone to meet the test flight demand. Newly developed drones or modified existing aircraft carry potential flight risks due to unpredictable flight performance or poor pilot skill when performing test flights outside the test site. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure sufficient test flight space for the safety verification of manned and unmanned aircraft. Therefore, this study analyzed the status of domestic flight test site and chapter 5 of ICAO DOC 9184-AN / 902 Part 1 (Airport Planning Manual). And to build a comprehensive flight test infrastructure, the methodology for preliminary evaluation of candidate sites for flight test sites and a method for evaluating infrastructure test sites was presented.

  • Three-dimensional landscape map is very useful in terrain analysis as it looks like real shape of terrain. When three-dimensional landscape map is needed, landscape photos achieved at a position of high elevation or by airplane are generally used. But, this approach can not fully satisfy the user's need to get pictures from various view points. In addition, because photos have some geometric displacement caused by the principle of central projection of camera, it is hard to get accurate locations from the photo. This paper aims to get three-dimensional landscape map similar to real terrain feature from vertical stereo aerial photos by digital photogrammetric techniques. This approach can provide a very useful data for three-dimensional terrain analysis as a function of Geo-Spatial Information System.

Development of an Electromagnetic Analysis Methodology for the Aspheric Ogival Radome (원뿔형 비구면 레이돔에 대한 전자파 해석 기법 개발)

  • In this paper, an electromagnetic analysis methodology using reaction theorem based on reciprocity theorem is presented for the aspheric ogival radome applied to a missile and/or airborne radar. The presented analysis methodology is verified using actual measured data. The type of antenna assumed to develope the methodology is a waveguide slot array antenna, and has the structure of 2 axes monopulse of "X" type. The shape of radome is assumed as Von Karman and the ratio of length to base diameter(L/D) is assumed to be 2:1. The electrical characteristics of the radome are measured using radome measurement system and the results are compared to the values estimated using the presented analysis methodology. It is found that the comparison shows good agreement. It is expected that the presented methodology can be applied for the development of missile and airborne radome.

  • In developing an aircraft, configuration determination and requirement proofing depend on flight test results. Since the flight tests require much time and high cost, systematic flight test planning and analysis are needed to reduce cost and development time. This paper presents a desirability function approach to present an integrative measure of vibration levels at important positions and suggests a fractional factorial design which is one of the experimental design methods to help perform systematic flight tests. A method to perform flight tests in stages is also suggested to further reduce the number of flight tests.

  • Micro-defects induced by design and production failure or working environments are known as the cause of SCC(Stress Corrosion Cracking) in aged structures. Therefore, the evaluation of structural integrity based on micro-cracks is required not only a manufacturing step but also in-service term. So we introduce a new nondestructive inspection method using the magneto-optical film to detect micro-cracks. The method has some advantage such as high testing speed, real time data acquistion and the possibility of remote sensing by using of a magneto-optical film that takes advantage of the change of magnetic domains and domain walls. This paper introduces the concept of the new nondestructive inspection method using the magneto-optical film, also proves the possibility of this method as a remote testing system under oscillating load considering application on real fields by applying the method to four types of specimens.

Surface pressure measurement on a wing of SWIM by using PSP (PSP를 이용한 항공기 형상 모형 날개 표면 압력 측정)

  • this study, three dimensional surface pressure distributions of SWIM whose main wing has NACA4412 airfoil with NACA0012 flaps were experimentally measured by pressure sensitive paint. Surface pressures on suction and pressure sides of the wing were measured by changing an angle of attack at a Reynolds number of 3.1x105 in KARI 1m subsonic wind tunnel. The experimental results showed that as an angle of attack increases minimum pressure region on a suction side moved from the wing root to the tip and low pressure region around trailing edge of the wing tip which causes wing tip vortex was observed. Although low pressure region at the tip still observed at an angle of attack 15 deg., other area on a suction side showed flat pressure distribution in a span-wise direction. It was also observed that the mean value of pressure coefficients was about 0.077 through a comparison between PSP and pressure taps at the same test conditions.

  • Experimental study has been a general way to evaluate inlet and exhaust duct performances, but this is not only costly but also time consuming. Computational simulation is hence replacing experimental study and consequently time and cost saving. This paper therefore aims to investigate typical component performance of the intake and exhaust ducts using 3D representation. In this study a specific inlet and exhaust was modeled and analyzed to estimate its losses and flow field using computational fluid dynamic program with flow visualization capabilities. A process that requires geometry data to be modeled. That allowed for possibility of design trade off in designing phase. Installed performance of a specific turbo shaft engine was finally evaluated with the estimated inlet, exhaust and other accessories losses.

A Study on the Characteristics of Coupling Loss factor Associated with Fluid Loading (접수 구조물의 연성손실계수 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is an efficient tool to predict the broadband noise and vibration for the huge and complex structures such as aircraft and ships. To estimate the noise and vibration by using SEA accurately, the characteristics of SEA parameters associated with fluid loading have to be investigated. In this report, the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were calculated for an 'L' and 'T' type line connections and compared to the ones without fluid loading. Then, the vibration levels for steel box model with 'L' and 'T' type line connection were computed using the fluid loaded and no fluid loaded coupling loss factors, respectively. As a result, the calculated vibration levels of the model using the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were lower than those without fluid loading. As a conclusion, it is necessary to use the fluid loaded coupling loss factors for increasing the prediction accuracy on the noise and vibration of immersed structures.

  • SHOP DWG의 현주소 어디까지 왔는가? 설계에서 제조에 이르는 전 과정을 컴퓨터로 제어하고 관리하는 기술. 캐드(CAD)와 캠(CAM)은 각각 computer-aided design,computer-aided manufacturing의 약칭으로 컴퓨터보조설계와 컴퓨터보조생산을 뜻한다. CAD는 설계도면을 한 장씩 수작업으로 제도하지 않고 설계 데이터베이스의 정보를 CRT(cathode ray tube)에서 화상을 보고 합성하면서 설계하므로 작업을 최적화 할 수 있다. CAD로 설계된 설계도의 내용은 CAM을 통해 NC(수치제어)공작기계에 정확한 작업동작을 지시하게 되며, 작업관리∙가공∙조립∙검사 등의 제조과정을 컴퓨터로 관리하여 작업속도와 제품의 정밀성을 높이게 된다. 최근에는 건축현장의 2D system이 보편화되어 있지만 건축현장의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 기계설비의 기계실, 또는 조립화 공법 등에는 3차원 CAD∙CAM시스템이 개발되어 입체형상을 화면에 3차원으로 재현할 수 있고, 대상물의 표면적∙부피∙무게∙강도 등의 물리적 성질도 자동 계산하여 최적상태에서 현장의 시공에 적용할 수 있게 되었다. 1960년대 초 미국에서 자동차 모델∙엔진, 항공기 부품 등 의 설계에 수작업의 한계를 느껴 개발되었으며, 한국에서는 70년대 중반에 도입되어 운용되고 있다. 이에 따라 프로그램 회사들은 다양한 방법 등을 SHOP DWG에 적용하여 판매경쟁이 치열하다. (주)우진아이엔에스는 급속한 산업경제의 변화와 무한경쟁시대에 보다 나은 기술개발 투자에도 노력을 기울여, 2000년 11월 용인공장, 생산라인을 천안으로 이전, 확장 하여 배관 및 닥트의 CAD-CAM SYSTEM, P.F.P공법, 기계실3D, 블럭화배관, 닥트자동화 시스템, 설계, 용접공정을 공장화시켰으며, 신 개발품인 S.C.D(SEMI-CON DUCT)를 신설하여 모든 건축물에 맞는 필수적인 제품을 생산함으로써 선택의 폭을 넓히고, 현장 시공능력 효율을 높이고 있다. 이번 호에서는 (주)우진아이엔에스가 95년 설계팀을 발족하여 제로시스템의 3D공법을 공장 및 현장의 SHOP DWG에 적용해왔고 최근에는“서초 프로젝트A”현장에 SHOP DWG의 최대 결집체인 3D활용의 조립화 공법을 적용하여 초고층 오피스텔현장을 시공한 사례를 게재한다. 우진아이엔에스는 30여년의 기술 축척을 바탕으로 최고의 기술력과 풍부한 경험을 통해 아셈무역센타, 타워팰리스1차, 3차 및 목동트라팰리스, 분당트리폴리스, 수원삼성전자 R4, 등 국내굴지의 초고층빌딩 시공을 근거로 초고층의 기본설계를 이해하고 SHOP DWG을 통해서 기계설비공사의 향후 나아갈 지표를 제시하고 있다.

Conceptual Design and Development Test of an Unmanned Scaled-down Quad Tilt Prop PAV (쿼드 틸트 프롭형 PAV 무인 축소모델 개념설계 및 개발시험)

  • This paper describes the conceptual design and development test procedure of a unmanned scaled-down personal air vehicle(PAV) with drive and flight dual mode capability. Trade studies on operational requirements led to the suggestion of a quad tilt prop platform which has nacelle tilt capability with multi rotor configuration. Motors for propeller propulsion and driving mechanism were integrated into a single nacelle, then they were implemented by nacelle tilt mechanism for conversion between the drive and the flight modes. Primary design parameters and initial specifications were confirmed through conceptual design, then functional tests were performed with the test platforms for the drive and the flight modes.
